Seems as though a lot of league 1/2 teams are being knocked out by non-league sides in the FA cup.

Other upsets do not make our defeat any less acceptable or bearable.  We did not deserve to win.

Some game between Torquay and Crawley
Crawley were 2 down then got back to 2-1 then 3 goals scored in the 104, 108, 111 min to make the final score 3-3 extra time
5 penalties in the game
Crawley currently winning 6-5

Who needs the Premiershit when you have games like that.

Lets hope we don't end up back in the National League then, god forbid.

To me this is the sad state that this club has got to. I was there through the Buckley years and the pride we took in scaring the sh*t out of the big boys and how we looked forward and up. Now we are happy that there are some clubs worse than us in the 4th Division.

So that's alright then? I'm not saying we've got a divine right to go up but, if the height of our ambition is wallowing in the lower reaches of League 2, that says an awful lot about the last 17 years of GTFC.

Hasn’t our objective to be slightly better than about 5 teams every season since we came up?

For at least three seasons now, when we’ve gone through a rough patch or had some poor results the excuse of ‘it’s ok, there’s at least 3 teams worse than us’ is trotted out.

How ambitious of us.

As Lew says, are we the only club affected by Covid?

It boils my urine. We use other league teams losing to non league teams as a justification for our own failings, yet the board say how skint we are and take a six figure sum from the fans in donations, share purchases and saved ST refunds. Looking forward to seeing the reduction in director loans when the accounts go public 🤨

Yet another league club knocked out by non-league opposition.

I don’t think anyone is saying losing is alright. Just saying that getting beaten by non-league clubs is not all that unusual. A bit of perspective. We’ve lost 5, drawn 3 and won 3 this season. Not great. A lot of silly mistakes which could easily be cut out. We need a goal scorer or two added to the squad. But it’s hardly 2009-10.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,

Yeah, we are not that far away from being a half decent side. Wins at Cheltenham and Orient show what we're capable of when we get it right. Three games have been 1-0, losing two of those and winning one against Barrow. Could have got a point in the Walsall game, as Barrow could have got a point against us, with late shots hitting the post in both games. It's not like we have been taken apart by anyone (Salford was an aberration), with mostly self inflicted goals costing us.

I always think the first ten to twelve games of the season are not really worth getting too excited or depressed about, especially in this strange season. I've seen nothing yet that indicates we will be up there challenging, or down the bottom end struggling. At the moment, we are par for mid table again. The next ten to twelve games will give us more of a clue.

We are getting 1.2 points per game at the moment so 55.2 points for the season. Lower mid table.

That wasnt my wish, desire or expectation for this season......i was just saying it how the club have decided to approach it.

While i understand the restrictions and that there would be a gulf between clubs who are pretty much going to budget/ run as normal and those that batten down the hatches to survive the storm i wish we could have seen this season as a potential opportunity to prepare better than the rest , potentially smaller but better quality squad and hit the ground running , get some early wins, build momentum etc.....

i really should have known better.

It’s anyone’s guess what will happen this season but there’s a high chance of many clubs going bust.  A club run on a sensible financial basis and focusing on developing a young squad is a good one to follow at this point.  You only have to take a look at the National League North to see how nearly every team is an ex league club.  Football mirrors society and the north of England has suffered in the last 10’years.  Most of the clubs progressing are from the South.  Harrogate are the exception but Harrogate is hardly a typical Northern town.

I want us to be back in the championship but I will also always be happy every season we stay in the league.

I think we should hang fire until we've played them! (admittedly they are looking decidedly bottom of the Conference material at the moment and we all know how dangerous they can be)
