That would be quite a turnaround, given that he effectively lost his job thanks to his foul-mouthed rant at the press following a 4-0 home defeat to...Swindon.

Personally, as much as I liked Jolley and the heroic job he did in keeping us up that year, I can’t see his next managerial role being in the football league.

Edit: It was Orient that beat us 4-0 and led to the Jolley rant, not Swindon. All other points stand.

Thought it was Orient Poojah?

Agree with your point though.

I'd also be amazed if a League One club took a gamble on him unless of course they're on the bones of their bottom and want to pay peanuts. Might explain why they let Doyle go...

Yeah, you are quite right - my mistake. Swindon beat us 3-0 at home a few weeks later, although that was under Limbrick. It was a rather forgettable period as far as home form goes.

I've been linked with the vacant Swindon managers job, and so has my wife.

Depends what you mean by linked, his name nearly always crops up in the betting when lower league jobs become available.

Says it all when Slades name is there.

He left because Bolton were mad enough to offer a 32 year old a 3 year deal
