So after indicating his business was done Ollie now says he is still on the lookout for a striker to add more firepower.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

It's odd really, given the these strange times that we're in, but it feels like we've got the biggest squad we've ever had at this stage of the season. There were probably times in the latter pre-non league days that we had an army of loanees on top of a bunch of contracted no hopers that we couldn't get rid of, but effectively going into a season we're certainly strong in numbers.

Discounting any ex-academy lads yet to make more than a couple of senior appearences, we've got 27 'senior' players on our books at the minute, 28 if we add another stiker (obviously). That's a big ol' squad - I can only assume that our loanees aren't costing us a huge amount and that the average salary of our new permanent signings is much, much lower than in recent years.

It's probably a good job to be fair, provided the numbers stack up. This is a season like no other; we're going to lose players to Covid on ocassions and it seems there will be inevitable postponements and fixture pile-ups on that front, before things like the weather even begin to kick-in.

I agree with Poojah,  the loanees must be costing next to nothing so that enables us to stretch the budget a lot further.

Having a squad of 28 "seniors" if it happens is a lot but then we already need to cram in a load of games and that's before more games are called off due to waterlogged and frozen pitches etc not to mention games postponed due to Covid, so certainly for this season I think it is wise to have a large squad as this is a season like no other.

I’d imagine that whilst we’ve assembled what seems like a large squad, they’re likely on pennies in comparison to the past.

Surely this is more bluster from him though? I’d hazard a guess that pretty much every manager would say they’re on the look out for more fire power.

I guess had we lost 3-1 on Tuesday people would be agreeing but after a 3-1 win it always seems a tad on.
When does our window shut? I can never fathom it out why it’s staggered...

Domestic window slams shut at 5pm tonight. We can sign free agents whenever though.

I think it's just mind games to keep our strikers on their toes although a big target man in the mould of Hanson would be good.

Never figured why it slams shut?

It’s a woman that closes it.

It’s slammed shut (with a collective sigh of relief) by all the managers with saleable assets that they want to hang on to.

Perhaps with it being a ‘window’ it should be operated by Harry redknapp from his car and it closes with a simple press of a switch!

Hanson and Touray will not be ready to battle for 90 min against the likes of Santos and Tozer for a while yet. We know it won't be Green and Windsor is wasted if asked to play with his back to goal. At this level there is a role for players like Jamille Matt who can play centrally or drift wide to move defenders around.

As good an idea as that is, it more than likely wouldn't be a quick fix if we needed someone in a hurry, due to the fitness levels of the free agent. I doubt there are many free agents who are keeping their fitness levels high enough to go straight into the starting XI of any league team. Look how long it has taken for our full time professionals to get their fitness up to a suitable standard.

If Windsor scores a few more in the next few games, and Jackson Jnr can put the ball in the net in reserve games, Sisay makes agood account of  himself at Clee Town, and Edwards can add to his tally, then still having Hanson and Green and a couple of others loitering in the background, do we really need another striker? If Ollie plays 3 up front like on Tuesday then yes, having that many on standby is worth it, but if he only plays 1 or 2 up front then having multiples on the side line cant be good for the players,

Keeping hold of Pollock or getting silly money for him would be my transfer window wish.

I can't see us getting silly money. Only the premier league clubs would spend that, and I'd expect he's too slow for them to be really interested. Championship clubs might have taken a gamble, but their financial situation probably rules out a gamble on a young lad.

Ollie said at the recent GTFC golf day that Leicester were very keen on young Pollock, but he was happy to stay and develop with us.
