Good, long interview with Matt Dean here ahead of the weekend's game at Walsall:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08r22mr

Amongst other things:
  • Hasn't seen Louis Boyd since Tuesday night as he's back at school, considering naming him in the squad on Saturday if he's allowed to travel

  • Hasn't spoken to anyone about Bogle, although he did intimate he had spoken to his representatives about other players they look after

  • Says he's more excited by Owura Edwards than any young player he's ever had

  • Inferred that he's delivered a few home truths to one or two players during a recent team meeting. No names mentioned, but immediately went on to mention Ohman and how impressed he was with him on Tuesday night; doesn't feel as if he can leave him out after that performance
Decent interview, although to the best of my knowledge the Oxford vaccine hasn't 'failed' just yet...

Well, that's not what's been said, is it? Without wanting to turn another thread into a debate on corona, what's happened is someone who has been given the vaccine has fallen ill shortly after. It's possible that this illness was caused by a reaction to the vaccine, but far more likely is that is an unrelated coincidence. With any vaccine, trialling it on tens of thousands of people means that the chance of someone being ill on the off chance having received it is quite high.

For the same reason, similar concerns have even been aimed at approved vaccines, only for those concerns to turn out to be completely unfounded:

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2009/oct/01/cervical-cancer-vaccination-tumour-natalie-morton

As it happens, I believe the rumblings are that the trial is to resume very shortly and it remains a potentially viable vaccine. Fingers crossed.

Fair enough. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Just a lot of misinformation flying around at the minute, mostly from the media, and it’s winding me up.

Other than a couple of posts on the match thread the other night I really haven’t seen anything that gets close to constituting ‘targeting him’. Having a different opinion to you about his performance/position in the squad yes, ‘targeting him’ no. You need to get a grip and stop being so drama queenie.

Generally I'd be sympathetic with you, but it is the case that there was a  specific thread on Ohman, following his mistakes, but there was v little mentioned, certainly not a dedicated thread  to the mistake made by waterfall

The thread was an old one forza, started a while ago to ask about whether he was training etc post Covid. After his first game back the other night I posted a comment on there about his performance as I thought the thread showed a general interest in him in particular. I offered both praise and criticism but some on here have been ridiculous since suggesting he’s being made a scapegoat.

I just don’t see it and I’m bored of the immature extreme reactions by some on here. I like him as a player, as I think most do, this doesn’t mean I can’t comment on some of his flaws as a footballer - isn’t that the point of a forum?

How much will fitness prove a factor? How many pre-season games have they played?

Wish the interviewers would ask more questions about the Mohsni's and Sisays of the squad. How soon before they are up to speed with the rest of the squad and are able to be selected?
Sounds like we have had many cut backs. No match analyist, i assume Limberick would have dealt with that and not got an organised travel plan to get to the match with Ollie needed to sort out.
Sounds are though we are going to have to cope best we can for first 6/8 weeks till squad fully fit

Whilst many clubs could be in a similar position, we only care about GTFC. Could the lack of pre season games and the players not being up to speed be a negative factor?

Is the possibility that the idea of ‘it’ll take us 6/8 weeks’ likely to impact us for the rest of the season, playing catch up perhaps? Already starting the season on the back foot?

I get that it hasn’t been the best preparation and to be honest, I think Holloway and the players have done well to get anything or prepare anything, elements of the club looks chaotic and clueless but they’ve just ploughed on through...they have to I guess.

I’m not entirely hopeful for the season or the Walsall game however, as we all know, football isn’t an exact science so anything could happen. Take Tuesday, whilst we all know that competition is a disgrace, nobody predicted a 15 year old lad not just making a cameo but coming on and scoring.

Let’s just hope we get a result today...

Looks like they've played 4 friendlies plus Sheff Wed and Bristol Rovers in the cups. I imagine that will put them in better shape than us for the end of the game. Hopefully we've got more in the legs than against Morecambe who also looked spent at the end.

Agree with this totally. It was one of the games i was looking   to come over for. A draw would be a good result but, would love to see us get the same result as last year

Keeping that gobshite Darrell Clark quiet is my main wish for today and 3 points however gained would be the best way to do that.
