It grates with me that the Premier League aren’t helping a great deal, but there’s surely enough clout in the upper echelons of the EFL (ie ex Premier League chairmen) to get this sorted.

I’ve never expected a handout from the a Premier League - they don’t have to so they won’t. What they do have though is the ability to borrow money money very cost-effectively, much more so than the EFL because they carry virtually zero credit risk. I suspect that as an individual club, Town couldn’t borrow a bean right now.

A £1m loan secured at an interest rate close to zero, repayable over say ten years would be a life saver for a club like Town and an easily manageable debt.

They have no obligation to do so, but borrowing that money and passing it on is the least the Premier League can do at a time when altruism is more important than ever.

A smooth sea never made a skillful mariner.

I was listening the RH earlier and they explained about this 200 mill for the EFL but nothing has happened yet.  I've heard this mentioned a few times it's the Premier League that are forcing clubs to play" but not sure how, surely clubs need to play to get any money in whether it be limited attendances or online streaming.  Unless clubs wanted to delay the start of the season.

Certainly we didn’t appear to want to start as soon as we are. There’s a very fine balance between trying to get back to normal and continuing to protect public health.

I understand football is not a massive part of the economy but it is a big part of many people's lives, even people who don't attend many games in person.

It's very disappointing that the government are treating it as such a low priority. It's seemingly more important to them keeping coffee shop chains afloat than it is businesses that have been part of our landscape for over a century.

and saving money.......there is no way the club have protecting public health at the top of their agenda on this.....if they could start the season with open doors tomorrow they would do, If they could start tomorrow behind closed doors with guarantees of income from the league...they would do.....they are a business....not care in the community.
The reason we dont appear to want to start is that we dont as its currently losing us money to start.

There’s a very real danger that the population will soon not have a great deal to look forward to. People are reluctant to go back to their offices, reluctant to send their kids back to school and reluctant to get on with their life. There’s no guarantee of a fully effective vaccine within the near future.

Why would the premier league just hand out cash to clubs outside of their remit? Similarly, why are the EFL literally just sat cap in hand?

All seems to reinforce the ineptitude of the EFL and their lack of willing to solve their own problem. Are they just pushing it back on the top flight.

Was there any light shed on why we were unable to get any pre season games? Was there any praise for some fans dipping their hands in their pockets?

Was there any explanation as to why we, as a club, felt the salary cap was a good idea?

From what I’ve read he basically said we won’t go bust (not sure as many will as people think) and the EFL are waiting for a hand out of some sort.

I’m normally first for having a go at the club but what Day has effectively said is the EFL are useless and are pushing everything back on them and suggesting they run the game. Any mention about the FA in there? All seems too easy for the EFL to blame or say they’re waiting for someone else...

How many of the “ex Premier League chairman” care about anything else other than getting back on the Premier League gravy train or securing a big slice of any windfall? They’d never be representative of anything other than their own self interest.
