Proper excrement day week months. Expected the 2 of them to be placed higher by Burnley, a class above. I must say im concerned. A week to go, no squad. Injuries, think its going to be a tough start

After Day said, in June, that the club would be fine for a an entire year without any football being played, then the fans handed over the best part of £200k (again), you have to start wondering why we’re failing to make any progress.

People have been begging for weeks to be able to buy a season ticket to help out knowing they’re not likely to be allowed in until at least October and they’re finally releasing the details next week.

No surprise, they're both ready for a season at L1 and there's no point in Burnley keeping them in L2 just to work with a particular coach. Good luck to both of them.
Hopefully they'll send us a couple of their next batch in time for the season. My first match watching Town was the 6-5 over Burnley in 2002; now we're their lower league testing ground. If it gets us players as good as Benson and Glennon I won't be complaining.

So what happend to all these players virtually begging to come and play for IO. Or is it waiting to the last minute to save wages and some are here training .The club is very quiate and that is strange so close to the seasons start.. I for one cannot see this coming season running its full course. Lockdown will be brought back as winter creaps in and the virus gets stronger in the colder weather

There was never any chance of Glennon coming back after the way he performed at this level last season, his personal development would have deemed playing up a league as a minimum. I had a glimmer of hope about Benson returning but again he probably warrants being tested higher.
What is concerning and should be a wake up call to all those salivating at the signings we have made so far and the prospect of this being a promotion winning season was the comment from Holloway, The 3 forwards who have come in cost the total wages of Rose & Cardwell (2 of our lowest earners).
We have signed 3 totally unproven strikers at this level, who will need time to settle in find there feet, something I fear they wont be given by some who are expecting too much too soon. Here is hoping they are more Bogle than Bolarinwa.
Be interesting to know if it was Marcus Day or Holloway who decided on not taking it any further.
The reality is we are working with a budget probably not seen at Town for decades and it will be a case of survival, not in the league but as a club.

Don’t disagree with a number of your comments but with the new salary cap, with some exceptions, all L2 clubs are on the same footing so our annual argument that we are over and/or underachieving based on our budget spend compared to other clubs should be out the window. Maybe, big if I know, by waiting that extra month to sign on players means the £1.5M is spread over 11 rather than 12 months for the new arrivals allowing us to pay them a few quid more per week. Have to concede that failing to have any competitive friendlies is a very strange way to start the season and it is unlikely we will be flying out the blocks. Despite IH’s arrival it seems the clubs PR/ Marketing remains in the dark ages with little or no news emanating from them something a decent local rag would be highlighting but hey ho l assume Life as a town fan is not supposed to be fun !!!

Let's prepare ourselves for benson and glennon heading to hull Lincoln or Doncaster on loan.....
Although someone like wigan or Fleetwood might suit everyone more, everyone except us that is.

They found out BP wasn't wheelchair friendly and earning an extra £75 a week might affect their old age pensions and benefits

Never really going to happen was it and regards the triallists then thats what trials are for.....trial done.....they weren't good enough for us or we weren't good enough for them, either way we haven't wasted a wage on something that wouldn't work out.

Gutted not to have them back and as each day goes, things get more concerning. I don’t have a problem with us being careful financially and putting the future of the club first. However what I do have a problem with is the fact we seem to be weeks behind everybody else in almost every single aspect. We’ve organised one friendly and we start the season in 7 days, we’ve not sorted season tickets yet, we’re about 6 players short of what we need and by the sounds of it we’re nowhere near fit enough.
Every single fan totally understands the situation we find ourselves in but it seems we’re not exactly helping ourselves either.

As said above would have been amazed if glennon had been allowed back with us he was clearly destined for a league 1 loan this season. Was more hopeful with Benson and that is a disappointment.
What is a bit concerning is that if we start poorly, (which you would expect with our lack of fitness, pre season games and signings) then that will have a relatively bigger impact in the event of the season being curtailed rather than it being fully completed, and that seems a distinct possibility.

Some of our fans really are drama queens 😂
Would I rather be a Scunny fan, their club signing loads of unproven youngsters who on paper look way out of their depth and a real ‘cheap option’ or trust a manager with almost 1000 games and a huge contacts book?
Looking at other teams, there aren’t many signings made that me wish we had them. I trust IH will bring in a number of experienced signings before the end of the window and we will be much stronger than many other clubs in the league.

My biggest concern is Hanson. We appear to be relying on him so much but I fear he is going to spend more time on the physios couch than on the pitch, I just hope he will be able to pass on his immense experience and knowledge to the three non-league lads off the pitch somehow. I hope he is not going to prove an expensive liability, proven stiker yes but up to a full 46 game season? I doubt it unfortunately

Mohsni can fill in for Hanson says IH. He's injured too of course.

I get sick of the negativity on here . Always doom and gloom. We will be ok . Ollie didn't make any duff signings last season and I'm sure this season's will be just as good . Liven up everyone.

So when you look at our current squad and compare it to the squad that finished last season which included , glennon, davis, hess, whitehead you come to a different assessment?

Wow an assessment based on 1 friendly.
So you think we have strengthened losing Clarke, Vernam, Benson, Glennon and Hessenthaler. Basically our 5 best players, while replacing them with lower league strikers who are out performed by Ashley Chambers and Asante LOL

No doom merchant here, just pragmatic,
Do all the jazz hands and happy clapping you like, we are 1 week from the season starting and have a threadbare squad lacking any depth or notable experience other than Mckeown, Waterfall, Hendrie (Injured), Hanson (Injured) and Green (abysmal last season).

I don’t think it’s overly negative to observe that we’re behind the pace on our preparation. Having no friendlies when every other side seem to have managed it strikes me as absolutely bizarre.
I’m sure we’ll be absolutely fine but we still need a lot of players before the competitive season starts In 7(!) days time.

Just remember, we are allowed upto 5 loan players, which if Ollie's contacts and reputation are taken into consideration (and comparing to who we got from Burnley last season) we could get 5 very good players who could suddenly bolster our team. Hopefully playing the new boys for the Cup games will get them up and running close to match fitness in no time.
