Rochdale away March 1979 was pretty good

After going 2-0 down...

FT...Rochdale 2-5 Town

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

best game for me was Town v Stoke including the agro after the 1 nil win, fair play to them they sang all game and made it a quality atmosphere.

I remember that Rochdale game like it was yesterday.  I was at uni in Yorsksire and one of the lads was a massive Rochdale fan.  We went to a pub before the game called The Cemetery I recall which was a real dive.

It was after that game that I suddenly realised town might actually get promoted - the first time it had ever happened since I started watching town

Me and my late brother went to that game. We decided to go in the side stand to avoid trouble only to find ourselves in the middle of the Rochdale mob trying to get at the Town fans. We kept very quiet when we scored! Seem to remember a very rare Bobby Mitchell goal for our equaliser. After the game it was very interesting in the car park.

We beat Stoke 2-0 at Blundell Park. You're right about their chanting.  IIRC, it was "Alan Ball has got us going, he's so good it's unbelievable!".

2-0

i thought it was 1-0 when they broke the crossbar and tried to storm the lower findus.  Was this the same game that a town fan (skinhead and no shirt) climbed the pole in the Ponny.  Maybe i'm thinking of another Stoke game as i remember it being sunny, and that game on the video didn't look sunny.  I guess it could be the quality of the video equipment.

Seem to remember the fans changing ends at half-time but I can't remember what I did this morning so probably wrong

I wonder why he took Big Keith off, as he looked like he was playing ok, and even put one on a plate with a bit of skill (not bad for a big guy) and good cross only for it to be skied by a town player (Cunnington i think, but he was never known for his shooting lol).
