I'm sure we'll get many different answers.... mine is Clive Mendonca.

Elegant, intelligent and proved how good he was when he went to the premier league with Charlton (where he is still revered).

His come-back hattrick v Ipswich in '96 was an excellent performance.

Post 88/89, Mendonca is comfortably the best striker in my Town-watching life.

Jack Lester was classy and capable of the dark arts. Due to the way we played he didn’t really score regularly until he left us.

Amond’s movement showed he had played at higher levels. Gary Jones would always score goals in the 4th tier.

As brilliant as Mendonca was, I wonder if he had the acceleration or strength to play upfront on his own in the modern game at PL / Championship level. We shall never know.

Good point - maybe in  today's game he would have been played in a different position - he wasn't the biggest or strongest player but the way that he brought other players into the game was excellent.

I've always like the intelligent strikers, as much fun as a classic number 9 is (Livinstone for example )

Its interesting how quickly the game evolves and moves on - I'm sure there are defenses now who would struggle to play against a 4-4-2 with "a big man up top"

I go back to 1971, so Matt Tees, Kevin Drinkell, and Paul Wilkinson absolutely have to be on any list of great Town strikers. Of the three, I think Drinkell was the best for his all round game.

Michael Reddy was my idol as a teenager, electric pace mixed with cool finishing.

Drinkell was playing when I first started watching town - was gutted when he left.
Tony Rees I always enjoyed watching because he was in such a great team....

I'd moved away from the area by the time Reddy was playing - never saw him that much live, but looked awesome.  Same with Amond..

Been done on here before but heyho there's little to talk about.

Kevin Drinkell for me, pure class.

You could see he was destined for bigger things, just annoying that we got ripped off.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Stuart Brace - he kept us in the football league with his goals and flourished in his partnership with Matt Tees when Laurie MAC took over - Stuart was really special for us
