A question doing the rounds on Twitter that you may want to answer:
You can choose one game from Grimsby’s history and add one goal for Grimsby’s benefit!
Which game do you choose and why?

A 90th minute winner in the play off final vs Bristol rovers, ideally by a fault by their keeper who should have been sent off, so we would be promoted instead of them. Be interesting to see how that side might have done in the league. Plus would erase the bitterness caused by that cowardly incompetent ref decision.

Town 0-0 Wolves ...4th December 1979
League Cup Quarter-final
A goal would have taken us through to the semi-final with a decent chance of reaching the final as Wolves avoided Forest and Liverpool in the draw and got Swindon

Orient away in 2006. We’d have got automatic promotion. Slave MkI might have stayed (subject to Fenty giving him what he wanted). Could the non-League years have been avoided?

Cue swin moaning that we won’t let it go. I agree with you by the way. Heartbreaker of a day, especially the manner of the defeat when we should have been 1-0 up against 10 men.

Was this the tie when we lost the replay to an offside goal. We also got bombarded with bottles from West Ham supporters at Upton park.

Can't be bothered to be honest, it's just pathetic if that's the only game out of the thousands Town have played and the hundreds you have seen that you wish we had scored one more goal, it's sad.

Can I give a huge thank you to Ipswin and Posh Harry?
I'm a primary school teacher who due to school closures is feeling 'a bit out of practice'. However, your behaviour on the thread that I started has allowed me to go in to 'teacher mode' - I will point out at this stage that most of the 10-year-olds that I work with are much more mature than to write unpleasant messages to each other using technology.
So first of all, I'd like you to consider why on earth you are typing unkind comments to other grown adults on a football message board? Is the lockdown making you this angry or do you have other issues in your life? If so, I'm here for you to talk to as sending cruel messages won't help you to feel happier.
Secondly, if it continues then the pair of you will be writing 'I must not be a nincompoop on The Fishy' 100 times (not a phrase we normally use in the classroom but one that I feel fits you two perfectly).
PS- In a world where you can be anything... be kind!

I think it might be yourself that is feeling the effects of the lockdown! What on earth are you on about? Swin and I often have a bit of banter on here but it’s never more than that and done (from my point of view and I hope from his), with tongue in cheek most of the time. I would ask you to confirm (you are a teacher so I am hoping you have a superior grasp of the English language than I do in what is a very important and responsible role) where exactly any of my comments on this thread have been ‘cruel’? I look forward to you helping me become a better person.

This is great value entertainment now. It was getting quite dull with Swin and Posh (no offence fellas) but it’s moved to a whole new level now. 😆

From experience, I’ve noticed that ‘banter’ can often evolve into something more serious. I just don’t want to see either you or Ipswin hurt in these strange times - we need to be looking out for one another. If you feel that the banter is making you vexed, then it may be best to have a period away from the fishy and Ipswin. Ps this is just tongue in cheek (from my point of view and I’m certain Ipswin appreciates this)!

Me too. I remember thinking "please just let someone scope so I can go home". I had the nastiest cold for days afterwards. Soon as Wrexham scored the winning penalty I dont think anyone had ever got to Wembley underground station so fast - and I only had to get to Greenwich at the other end of the Jubillee Line. I remember seeing all the Town coaches in the carpark and thinking "oh those poor sods"... I remember when we played Wimbledon away in the cup run when we lost 3-1 back in 88/89. We'd just gone 1-0 up and I think Alexander had a glorious chance to take it to 2-0. That would have been one to savour.
