I see Ollie has given Russell a new 3 year contract. That will certainly settle down one part of the ins and outs conundrum over the Goalkeeper position as he is still to be a player-coach.

That is a strange one.  At 37 years of age, he must be over the moon with this.  Completely out of left field for me.

Not all left field if you read the article
He has a huge amount to offer - according to Ollie

Good GK at this level - 37 not that old for a GK
He is one of best at playing the ball out - Ollie
He is working towards being a fully qualified coach
Will work with all levels instilling Ollie's blueprint for style of play

It's as much mid/long term as it is short term

Getting these types of 'multi-skilled' people to sign lengthy deals is a great move IMO

No brainer. Stable backup, solid lower league career, seems to work well with Macca, happy to be on the bench and means we don't have to employ a separate GK coach. Better than rolling the dice on a youngster. For every Dean Henderson, there's a Tommy Forecast.

No brainer, as good a backup GK you'll get at this level and even if he did choose to retire before his contract was up we'll still have him for coaching

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best
