Come on Town, let's get a win tonight.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Benson on for Hess, why didn't their player get booked.

This ref is already  looking shite.

Should have been a sending off. Strangely Town players didn't complain at all. Replay on TV shows he could have easily pulled out.

Ref is a coward and the town players should have made a massive fuss over that challenge instead of just all shrugging their shoulders

Yeah, it really fecks me off that we don't surround the ref like others do to us.

If it was us away we'd probably be down to ten.

Anyway we've scored, golfers favourite player.

Nice ball out wide by Vernam, decent cross by Hendrie. Good save by the keeper but I think it was the defender* that poked it in, not Whitehouse. Anyway, who cares?!

*maybe not, actually

Fabulous move for the goal. Lovely little touch and pass from Benson, great play twice from Vernam. Great cross from Hendrie. Hanson should ld have scored with header but hit target. Tap in from inches for Whitehouse.

We were second best in the game until that move. And still are it seems

Very disjointed display.
Two poor sides tonight.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

AB going on about not getting booked for kicking ball away - nobody does now nor do refs pick em up for pinching yards on throw ins
Stevenage more like a rugby league side very physical bruisy yet JT/AB not said a word about this just that Town not moved on since goal, do me a favour

I reckon the ambulance must have been for Hessenthaler. My guess is collarbone. I didn't think it was a particularly malicious challenge but it was dangerous play. He could easily have minimised the impact and the referee was a coward for not booking him at the very least.

Other than the goal, have to say we've been pretty poor tonight. They've pressed us and we haven't dealt with it. Good, accurate kicking from their keeper and a well-worked long throw has proved enough to cause our defence problems. Luckily they've not made anything of the chances which have come their way.

With their height advantage across the pitch, we need to either play into feet or put it over the top into corners. I'd be happy with a slightly streaky win, but it would be nice to put them away despite the adversity of losing a player in the first few seconds.

Poor performance so far can't tell if we're being lazy with our marking or its just heavy legs from Saturday. Benson has looked good, his control and passing is great. Whitehouse is habing another good game and Hanson looks to be putting a shift in again

A poor ref probably should of sent Jackson off right at the start but I see why he didn't, it wasn't till the replay you could see he could of pulled out instead choosing to dive in.

But it doesn't matter we are winning and hopefully that continues and hopefully our performance picks up as well.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Village have been on a bit of poor form along with Mansfield and Newport who have struggled to win since the Cup exit.

Ref has to book him by the letter of the law unfortunately. This one isn't on the ref its on the FA or FIFA who brought in the stupid rule

Much needed win, Stevenage weren't the worst team we have seen at BP but I think we were worth the win in the end, some well taken goals and 3 points puts us above the Scunts as they lose  3 -0 to Northampton

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Wow, really not sure how we won that, never mind comfortably.

We scored 2 great goals but did nothing else creative for most of the game. Didn't even look solid at the back. Stevenages lack of confidence was so obvious - they never looked like taking any of the very good chances they had.

Not complaining though. Good points, good for confidence. Things for the boss to work on with them all.

Their goal was a great individual goal too.

Good result slightly better second  half pity about thier goal which was a bit like the one Rose scored the other week.

A lot of work needed Ollie but you can do it.

Well done,Town worked hard for that got the rub of the green a bit for a change, but what an awful ref, and our pitch is getting worse game by game.  Be great if we can make it 2 wins in a row again on Saturday UTMM.

Well a poor win is still a win, we certainly weren't at our best today, but came away clear winners. The first half was really poor and we were lucky to lead, second half we improved as and they started to unravel. I'm still not convinced it was a peno, watched it again and I'm sure he gets the ball not Clifton again I'm not going to moan at a freebee like that, its not often we get a bit of luck like that. Vernams individual effort for the third was fantastic, he's been trying to pull that off for weeks now its about time he got it off

The Ref for bothsides was shocking for bothsides, I'm not sure we would of gotten anything off him if it wasn't for the linesman. I can't wait for Holloways view on him.

Special mention to Benson today I thought he did a great job, covered the pitch well, his control and passing was fantastic at times as well, Whitehouse impressed again as did Glennon. Thought we missed Hanson when he came off and we were starting to lose the grip on the game we had gained when we scored number three.

Finally its nice to see the League table has been resumed to normality

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

FGR lost 4_1 at home to Carlisle tonight.

Let's hope they are as bad on Saturday.

Quoted from Rik e B
Clean sheet would have been nice, but three points the main thing.

Would have been great.
Had a fiver at 16/1  for 3-0

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
