Seems like he covered himself in glory last night. Taken from Clee Town OS.
Quoted Text
Never like to be too critical of the officials, as they have a difficult enough job to do. However, hard to fathom some of the decisions from the referee and I have marked his performance accordingly in my official Club report to the FA. Hopefully, we will receive some clarification on the more contentious moments.
Who I will reserve by disdain for is Marcus Bignot. The former boss of our neighbours disgraced himself after the final whistle by allegedly threatening to head-butt one of our young fans. Despite chants of “Grimsby reject” in his direction, this type of behaviour has no place at any level. The scars of Blundell Park obviously run deep.
Finally, no ill-will at all towards the Lions’ players and fans. A robust and competitive 180 minutes of Cup football saw you progress – I wish you the best as you try to claim a place in the First Round.

What a Fruitloop.
Surely you mean the idiots who were chanting? What was the point of that I wonder? Presumably to try and provoke a reaction. They really are fruitloops.

Without condoning what Bignot has done or threatened to do (if that's actually true)....
There's 2 sides to every story. Doubt he'd respond like that just to chants of "Grimsby reject".

Genuinely don’t think I’ll ever be as surprised at a Town sacking as I was at that one. Just beat a top team, weren’t playing particularly bad and then bang, gone!

Results tend to not matter if you fall out with your boss.

The game before the Blackpool win was the Doncaster debacle which, on the playing side, was the final nail in the coffin for a lot of fans. I think we were all happy to accept a period of transition under Bignot and were prepared to write that season off to develop for the next season, especially after selling Bogle off and (as it looked at the time) using that money to reinvest in new talent.
But the constant changes, the Gavin Gunning obsession, the over the top efforts at looking like a man of the people and the treatment of fans favourites just became too much. The Doncaster game was all we had to look forward to really for the remainder of the season. To use that game as an experiment which included playing an out of depth left back in central midfield was the final straw for many.
There was other issues too. He had clearly lost the dressing room, both from a togetherness point of view and control of it.
I still maintain that he was led down a merry path by 'the board' who encouraged him to sign the players he did and experiment with the remainder of the season. To use that as justification to sack him was very poor. I'm not saying it was the wrong decision to sack him but get the reasoning right rather than use something ridiculous.

We could draw Guiseley at home in the first round of The FA Cup!

The Bignot era was an extremely odd one. I remember making great efforts to get to the Stevenage away game (lost 2-0) and the Crewe away game (lost 5-0). Both were truly shocking performances - as bad as any under those dismal showings last season under Slade.
There were times when I thought he didn't have a clue, but despite all the changes in personnel, all the signings and all the tactical bingo, he would always pull out a result - and he made some decent signings too.
I don't think any of us truly know what happened. All we do know is that Fenty thought he was a fruitloop yet the board sanctioned all his signings and basically game him free rein of the place.
I believe he upset some of the senior players in the squad (Pearson, Disley) and I think there was an argument to say he lost the dressing room - at least those players he inherited.
But what's odd is that the board sacked Bignot and then brought in a bloke who only released Pearson and Disley anyway, so if we were never going to protect the senior players then why not let Bignot manage his way through the transition?
There's still a lot about that time which doesn't make sense to me, and I doubt we'll never know the true story of what actually happened.

This is a hypothetical question, but as we are mass debaters on here, do we think the team that played at Donny on Tuesday, would have beaten Guisley away?

Disley will always be a GTFC legend for what he did and how he conducted himself as part of that side. However I think the decision to release him was the correct one. Slade entered that summer with 2 contracted midfielders in Summerfield and Berrett, he had no real option to offload either of them. Berrett had done nothing for us in his first season with us, Summerfield was at this point ridiculed beyond belief after a quite abysmal first season with us. Perhaps in hindsight keeping Disley on would have served better than signing Mitch Rose, who was quite poor until Jolley arrived, but we needed to look to upgrade. Only one player was out of contract, the other two wouldn't have had anyone lining up to sign them. Pearson's a different kettle of fish altogether. By all accounts Bignot had promised Pearson a two-year contract long before he was sacked, we all know the club policy is to not make public on deals during the season. How much truth there was in that, or if Bignot was in a position to make those promises I don't know. What I do know is that Slade suggested the reason he couldn't give Pearson a new deal is because he wanted to bring Nathan Clarke in and already had Danny Collins & Andrew Boyce under contract. He then subsequently offloaded Boyce and brought in Karleigh Osborne as a replacement. Boyce wasn't exactly a success during that season, pale shadow of the player we had on loan I thought, but he was damn sight better than Osborne and Clarke. Pearson was light years ahead of both. Summed up Slade's attitude when he was happy to go into the season with a centre-back pairing of Collins in his late 30's and Clarke nearing his mid-30's with the fleet of foot akin to a fly stuck in a saucer of treacle. Meanwhile he let the bastion of his dressing room and fans favourite Pearson walk away on a free transfer. Weakened the team but also the team spirit. There's something to be said about making a statement when you take over as the new man in charge, there's also something to be said about ripping the heart out of your team and making yourself look stupid in the process.
