The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I’m still packing the Ralgex for my neck after the game on Saturday.

They’re having their time ours will come in due course.

The “non league” style has got St Danny where he is now I doubt in reality he’ll change.

As one curley perm Yorkie once said “I’d love it if we beat them”!!

Whenever I see Lincoln fans I can’t help but think of the modern parents from the old Vizz magazine. I can spot them a mile off when they come here, walking with theirs Head’s bowed whilst whispering to their little Tarquin not to look at the locals and to watch out for the dog pooh. What a bunch of middle class snobs I can’t think of a bunch of football fans looking more out of place except maybe the Forest Green fans.

How come they can use the siren (Now an audio recording) at corners, I thought it was a EFL rule that club could not use their speakers to amplify anything that could cause the match to be affected, or motivate the team or fans.

I was wondering the same. They play it as the ball is in play from their corners which has to put the opposing team off

Whatever happens, remember that Lincoln are experiencing something close to an all time high as they push for promotion from the bottom tier. Meanwhile, we remain very much on our arse as a club, on and off the field, yet harbour much the same ambitions as they do.

Our highs came in the top two tiers of the game. We’ll get back there. One day.

Exactly. This is apparently their most successful period...and it’s one of our worst. But we’re in the same league.

Some games I'd be happy with a fog machine.

I am hoping that they WILL think all they have to do is turn up although the Cowleys are more sensible than that.

This might not be popular being it is Lincoln but we will go into this match as the underdogs but if they think they only have to turn up they are in for a shock.

Same goes for their plastic fans, Blundell Park will rock from three sides they WILL NOT outsing us.

I don't have a great deal of anger towards Lincoln, they have been largely insignificant for most of my time following Town.

The one thing I hate more than most is the whining and moaning at the ref, trying to influence every decision. The diving and play acting.  The 'junior'Crowley is the despicable leader of this it seems. They call it 'professionalism', I call it a total lack of standards and decency.

Hope we can blunt them sufficiently but expect not.

Beforehand I expect we will give it a good go on Tuesday as Jolley has already spoken that he wants to progress in Cup competitions as they are a potential revenue stream, similar to how Lincoln started their high!

Totally agree with the whining to refs both the Cowleys moaning constantly , subbing players the other side of the pitch to slow a game down ‘ game management ‘ they call it

All teams do this one though, Jordan Cook on Saturday was a prime example. The trick is to not give your opponents the lead so that they would want to slow it down.

It's a great stand for making noise thanks to the shape of the roof. Unfortunately the shape also means that a significant proportion of the stand can't see the whole pitch

Yeah its an unusual stand, I fell down the stairs there and scolded myself with bovril when Simon Yeo scored to put us 3-2 up.

Yes Ginny, I think we have a better team/Squad than you at present.
I think we have our best squad for years. We lost Waterfall and Woodyard, fair play to them they have gone to good teams. But we got got good money for them, and replaced them well. I have no idea how we got Shackell (Probably money), and the offer of coaching, Derby fans thought he would have gone to low end Championship or L1. I also watched us on Saturday rip Swindon apart time and time again, with good Football, 4-1 flattered them, we should have been 4 up at half time, but they got a fortuitous penalty and got a bit of momentum.

We have a good squad, good management and good support so we should do well. But I am not naive enough to know that you have to earn promotion and work hard. I maintain that you will do okay this season, FG in my opinion was a freak result, but I do actually think they will do okay. I think Macc will go down, but that was  a good result at a newly promoted team in their first home game. As I have said I would predict 1-0 either way, but I don't think that will stop us being up there this season. We are still after a couple of players so that will only strengthen us further. Either this year or next we will go up in my opinion.

Living in Lincoln myself it’s a City revitalised in terms of football. I’ve got numerous mates even some in Gainsborough who have all of a sudden become Lincoln fans ? Even people I’ve known for years who’ve never been Lincoln fans. Basically anyone who wasn’t a Lincoln fan or is a “Premier League” fan living in the area are all of a sudden a die hard Imp. They’ve gone from 2,3k per week to capacity attendances.

I'd agree with some of that. But fans that were staying away have come back, and thats quite a number too, and the club do masses in the community now too.

We have always been relatively well supported in L2, but I agree we have good crowds now. Someone mentioned empty seats at our ground Saturday but we still had 8k home fans during a holiday period. I maintain its the kids, and families that are the biggest change. Our Junior Imps has over 1,000 members -Add parents to that and the maths is there for all to see.

Definitely more families that have engaged with the club now & you definitely see people that did follow us but you didn't see in the conference years.
The Cowley's went round the local schools and there was 500 kids singing Lincoln songs at every school they went to it was incredible.
Spent years trying to get the connection between the club and fans then the Cowleys come along and make it so easy.
Junior Imps is a good scheme encourages families it was well priced but had to increase this season.
Something Grimsby could do?

Main point is we are only 2 games in so not getting carried away, normally its no problem getting tickets.
Rememeber being told the same things as i have read about being outsung and the like but we always used to give it a good go with only 500-600.

Fair enough. You are probably right and i will be happy if we take a point from the game.

Good luck to the Imps but with all the families and young kids about it’s a tad embarrassing the way the Cowleys conduct themselves with the officials........ bad sportsmanship and all that........

I actually think the way Rhead conducted himself was worse.
All, and I mean all managers berate officials to attempt to influence.

Surely officials get wise to it all after a while so it becomes counter productive. If I was a ref and knew what the Cowleys are like I would put them in their place from the start and let them know who's in charge.

Lincoln have got lucky with a once in a century (literally) FA Cup run
They also got lucky with the Cowley appt - as GTFC did in the late 80s with Buckley
GTFC were going out of the FL at that time - two successive relegations and were 4th from bottom at one point in Div 4 (I know cos I was on holiday and it was days when you had to wait two days to get the results or face a bloody expensive phone call home!)
LCFC (IMO) were heading for the Conf North before Cowleys - excrement crowds, excrement teams, excrement managers

Having said all of that...LCFC have cashed in, invested wisely and brought in some quality players to add to an already very good squad for L2

I work in Lincoln and you can tell it's a booming city - this often goes hand in hand with football success; at one time in past few years I read Bournemouth was fastest growing town/city in Europe... and they aren't doing badly

Lincoln and Bournemouth are (historically) 'nothing' football teams but GTFC's history counts for 'nothing' now sadly - we are one of several poor relations and just have to get on with it until we 'get lucky' again, primarily a major investor

I think Lincoln's 'crossroads' will be
a)  if/when they lose Cowley - every manager has a price and if Lincoln rip league up, within 10/15 games the sackings will have started elsewhere and L1/Championship clubs must come knocking surely? Any manager with an ounce of ambition would leave Lincoln

b) their ability to get a new stadium - as long as they remain at Sincil Bank they will always be a small club punching above their weight

If they get a new stadium they could be a new Wigan/MK Dons/Scunny

Never really get this stuff. You realise Lincoln is the second fastest growing City in the Country don't you?

FFS, you're on a Grimsby board. And you have shown some levels of smugness at times. Why do you keep harping on about non-football things? Fastest growing? It's full of bloody students. It is not special in any way.
You're a little insecure to be spending these vast amounts of time on a GTFC board, constantly correcting anything you see as detrimental to your town.

Interesting point about schools John Newman/George Kerr and the team with Alec King did it around 35+ years ago for us and it had a similar effect.

Personally I think you’ll go up automatically this season as the level of investment supports that if you miss out some would see it as under achieving but I don’t think you will.

I’d take a point and a clean sheet Saturday.

Look at the post above yours from Devs. No smugness, but i find it ironic with the 6 fingered, pictures etc. Yep lots of students that add an enormous amount to the economy, restaurants , bars , social stuff to do. As I said I can't imagine many Imps work or live in Grimsby.

Good post, the new stadium has already been highlighted in the new Western Growth corridor close to the A46, as part of a sporting village. Our new chairman was talking about it the other day, saying it was an absolute must.

Oh Christ... the 'irony' thing. Moved here because my future wife lived here about 18 years ago. I'm self-employed, my 2 daughters/son in law all in pretty crappy jobs and thoroughly drunk off with the Lincoln jobs scene, 'boom'and all, my wife works in the hell that is modern schooling, so we're all saving our pennies to make a huge family move to the coast.
But yeah, sit on this board all day and boast about boom towns and being higher in League 2 than Town, and I'll continue thinking it's all pretty weird of you.

Exactly. This is apparently their most successful period...and it’s one of our worst. But we’re in the same league.

If you check the records you will find that Lincoln had several seasons in the 50's at Championship level. In fact since 1945 Lincoln, Scunthorpe and Grimsby have all yo-yoed through the leagues although town are the only one of the three to experience the top tier and that ended in 1948.

How is Lincoln even a fast growing city I was there last week and It didn’t look at all any bigger, it’s still really just a little town with a cathedral. As for mass investment all the building work I’ve seen is for student flats that looks as though they’ve all been built on the cheap.
The little town centre is not big enough for all these students who want to drive on their own resulting in the roads constantly gridlocked.

To be honest I think that Grimsby and Lincoln are quite similar, they both still have that traditional English identity when compared to areas like Derby, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Son at Uni there so have spent more time in Lincoln over the past couple of years. It's become a University city and everything is a lot more accessible. It also benefits from being 30 miles inland and not surrounded by sea on two sides.

Beating Lincoln 4-1 away, a Dizza bicycle kick and Joe Colbeck scoring direct from a corner. The Conference years weren't all bad were they?

Yep, should be good, always think there are decent acoustics in the away end at BP.
Think it will be a tight affair, definite leveller, a local derby.

I imagine you're right. Most will probably never go again either. There is not a lot family orientated around your ground is there really? At our place there is the Family Zone and Fan Zone, which is used by both sets of supporters.. Cant see the Imp or the BP Hotel being very appealing or accommodating can you?

Why the big debate on Lincoln fans, good luck to them I say, its a club that has pulled out all the stops to get the fans on board, I happened to be in Lincoln ladt Saturday morning and there was a real buzz around the city like a matchday should be, I counted dozens of kids and families enjoying ths morning and getting ready for the match, its what its all about and should be an example to us at GTFC, instead of bitter comments critisising Lincoln and its fans however new they are, I recall similar commenta about Hull City and all the new fans a few years back, some have obviously dropped away but there are thousands who have remained loyal to the club.
When can we honestly say there was a real buzz around the town on a matchday?

Sadly due to the elements of both Clubs and the awful Policing any decent Imps fan`s just looking for a drink in decent surroundings are going to struggle. You will be put in the Sub/Buck and Spade pub whatever name it is this week on the seafront then frogmarched to the game under escort. If you are travelling in car and keep a low profile you will get in any pubs around the market place or high st .

Nearleardly, if you need family fan zones etc to entice people to grounds and they won’t come otherwise that just confirms everyone’s suspicions. A so called ‘proper’ fan is happy with a game and pub outsider the ground. I go and always have done to watching the footy. Fan zones just promote plastic fans, something I don’t want at GTFC!

That's a silly position to take. We may have a larger "hardcore" fanbase than Lincoln but without enticing people who need a bit more encouragement, a "plastic" if you will, then we won't progress. We should be doing more to get families with young kids in, we should be improving our facilities so that they don't put people off (because they do), we should be looking at making the match day experience as appealing as possible to as many people as possible.

Lincoln have capitalised on their football fortune in a way that our board could only dream of. In fact, our board couldn't even dream of it because they think we should turn up regardless without any positive input from them. I'm extremely envious of the way Lincoln have been run in the last couple of years. It's still hilarious and completely false to claim they "grew" their fanbase when in fact the vast majority of their fans jumped on the bandwagon during their fantastic FA Cup run. You only have to look at the attendances game to game in that season to see that and no board plans for a once in a lifetime FA Cup run to "grow" a fanbase. But what I would agree with is that they have managed to retain a huge proportion of those fans with the way they've changed the match day experience at Sincil Bank which is highly impressive.

Hah, was just about to say that. If there’s one thing we HAVE got, it’s family friendly areas. The beach/seafront/boating lake are glorious in the summer and a short walk to BP.

Who the hell wants to spend time hanging around a football stadium hours before kick off?

To be honest kids do. Spending money (Or getting their parents to), creating atmosphere, generating cash for the club. Swindon game, you couldn't get in our club shop such was the demand, bars and fan bars , pop up bars were heaving too.

A few of the last few posts suggest why your club is light years behind other clubs in generating revenue.

I totally get the need for them, and i'm not against them per se, it was more of a response to what seemed like you saying there is nothing for kids/families to do round here, ahead of this game, in the middle of August.

Not at all, I think you are missing my point, I probably will go to the beach on Saturday, but if it were other months I would not bother.

Which is why having to stuff to do bar the match will get kids there and keep them coming.

You can either engage with the fanbase or just keep giving them the same matchday experience that you had in 1985.
Not everything is a bed of roses but with the clubs success the local economy is booming all the local pubs  beer gardens are rammed on match days ,they seem not to be affected by the Fan zone.
Clubs have to change or they will just keep repeating the cycle they do every few years.

I know we quote Lincoln as suddenly having a load of "plastic " fans, but if they can keep their attendances at + 8k for another 3/4 years are they still classed as "plastic" fans. I would love us to have a good cup run where we attract an extra 3/4 thousand "plastic" fans who give us the finances to improve the playing staff and gain promotion.

I don't know if it's envy on our part the fact that at the moment Lincoln are riding on the crest of a very large wave, mainly due to good cup run, a chairman who can bankroll them and a shrewd board who saw the opportunity, took it with both hands and made the club all about the city and local community, but we don't need to hate them as a club, maybe we all know that with the right resources we would be a bigger and better club, have more supporters coming through gates, increasing the revenue which in turn increases the playing budget and has the knock effect of football fortunes....so, we call Lincoln city fans plastic yet, if all of a sudden we had an extra 2000 fans in BP on a match day, increasing our budget and allowing us to kick on up the football pyramid would you call those 2000 plastic???...

Don't think many of us would complain if we got the 1985 match day experience Helgy - think that the 84/85 season was when we finished 10th in Division Two (now Championship) so sure that most of us would snap your hand off for that match day experience

The acid test comes when they stop winning games.

Well they will be like every club in the land and see attendances fall! Getting our attendances up in the first place would be a good start.

We won't be shitting ourselves but I do think we are a long way behind them at present. They had some 'football fortune' in respect of Cup draws but they then capitalised on it with leadership and engagement.

Splashed the cash big time on wages and signing on fees to attract their targets, better players really, simple as that.

I think we will scrap on Saturday but be outgunned

I like all these comments about Lincoln's surge in supporters, yes they have had a surge because they appointed an excellent management team, questions regarding his integrity I know but there is absolutely no doubting his track record as a manager, some people say they got lucky in the FA cup but in order to get lucky they had to have an effective team to do so and they had a damn effective team even before the FA cup come around, if we have a golden couple of years our gates will double and would all you lot be saying how you'd wish we had 3,500 again? I highly doubt it.

The fact of the matter is they have attracted the crowds and they are keeping them, when we get a big crowd we don't keep them because we deliver a substandard performance. They have a forward thinking board with some money, we have a backwards thinking board with no ambition, the fact of the matter is in a space of a couple of years they have overtaken us rapidly and we are trailing far behind in their wake, they will get promoted from league 1 well before us, Scunthorpe and Lincoln are on the up, we'll certainly Lincoln are and we are not on the up, let's just face facts.

1981, 1991 as well. 1981 would have taken some foresight and vision admittedly, there was no trend for new stadia then. But it was when the building regs / fire regs failure of the Main Stand and Barratt happened.

The new ground location has been identified, and the chairman has said it is an absolute must.
Plans etc have been made, 12 k all seater.

I think it is still a few years away but it will definitely happen.

Think most sensible Lincoln fans realise its 1 game, and a derby game where anything can happen. I certainly don't think we will smash you. We rested 8 last night though, which I think helps. I would take a draw, and look at winning our 2 home games after that.

That Vital site is something else. If the Imps visiting really want to do some form of irony, how about these paranoid little gems on their site..

1700 at blunder tonight, who's plastic now ha ha.
The-slippery-greek - 180 posts

Had a bet with a town fan that our lowest league gate at home will be higher than their highest this season, league only
riby - 64 ( ) posts

I’m not going either, basically because I got the biggest kicking of my life on the North Shore last time I went.

Norfolk Imp - 46 posts

Louth- always a good place to park when visiting Grimsby!
StrangelyBrown - 336 posts

So there'll be more imps at Blunders on Saturday than there were cods for a home game! What a massive club they are.
Long suffering Imp (suffering apparently for a mere 741 posts)

Just pointing this out as it backs up my view of those fans that I and others bump into in Lincoln, total frauds, popping up only when the going is good.

Just like the thousands that you have lost off your gate, or the thousands that didn't go last night, did they think it was the checkatrade.
I forgot , you must stay away unless you were there during the bad times.

Come off it. It was the first round of the League Cup v Rochdale at full price. You sell out at Port Vale last night then? The mighty Lincoln gonna call Leeds fans plastics as they only sold 19k and closed two stands for Bolton at home?

I can understand you crowing about your err.. success at being in the same division as us, it's been a long old history of being well below us in the pyramid. Every dog has its day etc etc.. Our support holds up when we're shite even with all the crapp that Fenty throws at us, yours doesn't, get over it..

You literally brought 550 to BP on a bank holiday within the last six years, Lincoln fans can never brag about us being "badly supported". Still, well over half of that forum won't have been registered when that happened so I guess their ignorance is understandable.

I've been here through thick and thin, and a bit more thin, check my post count. Unlike Helgy/Impish you showed up on here when you were safe in the knowledge that you were back in the League and Town were down and ready to be kicked after a shitshow from our board brought us to our knees.

I think most knowledgeable Imps fans know that Towns support has been decent, even when things aren't going well. However when we only used to get about 2000 for home games and being mocked for having that few in the NL it's really little wonder, having 6 seasons when we couldn't even manage a top half finish. I don't think there are many sides that would be able to attract home fans witnessing the crap we had to watch, getting turned over by pub sides like Carshalton and Whitehawk with players obviously not bothering for effort and a club run by skeleton staff wondering when the next pay day would come around.

We got 4-5-6000 gates for the bigger games when things were going okay in league two and nearly 8000 for our last league game before the NL demise, so even though we have suddenly sprung up to a very healthy level, the support has been there on and off mainly. Couple that with the novelty of seeing your home side win regularly, something most won't have seen since the likes of Graham Taylor, and they are flocking back, plastic or not.

FWIW, I think Saturday will be a close game.

If we even got a spark of what Lincoln has received we would bit hitting higher levels of attendance consistently. Most lincoln fans have no real idea how lucky they have been.

Certain moments we have had luck like at Burnley it was their goal kick but the ref gave us another corner ,it was a once in a 143 year event the FA cup run.
I could not believe teams kept putting out massively changed teams that was a slice of luck only when we faced Arsenal soon as that team was read out knew we had no chance but if they had put out the team that played Sutton in the previous round i'd have fancied our chances.
The rest has been hard work Cowleys changed how the club was run brought in their team, sports scientists ,diet .every percentage counts.

It's a shame, I frequented the old Lincoln forum (name escapes me) back in the day and it was great fun. Town were in Division 1 (now Championship) back then and Lincoln were Division 3 (now League 2) but it didn't matter, some really good posters and no resentment to be seen.

I think that the fact we have a 13 page thread discussing the increased support of our noisy neighbors, as opposed to the usual 2-3 pages taking the p-ss as to why they’ll only sell 1/3rd of their tickets tells it as it is. I’ll take the Micky out of them more than most.
But there is a grudging envy as to how they are handling their affairs.  I know whose position I’d rather be in right now 😕

So, Lincoln fans think they have the better team and will win, some Grimsby fans think Lincoln have the better team and will win. On paper considering what the have paid in fees and wages they should have the better team. The bookmakers think Lincoln are the favorites to win.

But how will they feel if Grimsby win on Saturday?  Devastated will be an understatement !

I know the internet could go down en mass in Lincoln on Saturday ,when we played you in the conference you were the fancied team we brought our usual turn out of 600 and if i am honest i didn't fancy our chances but we won.
No game is easy especially local derbies form can go out of the window completely think it will be a close game.

They do this because we always have problems  at away matches that are allocated seating and sold out.
Mates always want to sit with mates especially alll those who want to sing thus they are given the opportunity to choose a section where they can all be together.
For what it's worth it doesn't work, never has and never will.
It will be a free for all Saturday as per usual at your place with a few people getting irate cos someones sat in their seats.

The worst type of football fan is the type who whinges someone is sat in their seat in sold out away end. Just be thankful to have a ticket as others would no doubt love to have had it off you and sat on the roof to get a view.

The second worst is the ones who request a seat at the back and then moan at everyone who is at the back standing up.

I have a new favorite fishy post, from Robocod, just when you start to detect the odd sign of grounded reality..
Long Suffering Imp

Wooh for me!!

I think you miss the point though, Mr Suffering Imp, as your forum and newfound fans have been awfully unpopular on the League 2 and Conference forums. Some of your newcomers last season were infesting the post-match Lincoln away threads asking/demanding/begging for acknowledgment of their HUGE following. As one rival said at the time, what do you all want, medals? You are PLAGUED by newbies, all finding this football watching lark such a novelty, whereas to most fans and clubs it's the norm.

The odd thing is I was posting on the old forum back in around 2000 and have probably made more posts on the Lincoln forums than 80% of the Vital lot. But as some Lincolnites keep telling me, Vitals is idiotic and insular and not at all representative of Lincoln City BC

I often find myself through work in various properties throughout Lincoln, and there are parts of both Towns that reflect each other. Lincoln isn't a boom town, growing slightly maybe with investment in new campuses but it has the same crappy areas and same crappy people in those areas like Town. Like the type of Lincoln morons who attacked old Town fans trying to get to their cars at the park near the roundabout. Yet they are on here blubbering about not being family friendly, when Lincoln isn't even OAP friendly.

Scunthorpe went through a purple patch but as the novelty wore off so their new fans found other things to do, the same will go for Lincoln, that's if we are lead to believe they are becoming a golden metropolis like they claim.

When Grimsby was a boom Town we played in the top flight, over to you gimps, (drops mic).

Seemingly all the Gimps on Vital are now commenting in their match thread with stuff like "Told you we weren't going to win 4-0!!!...told you not to get over confident!"

Is that some sort of techno club? With all that 'big club, little club, cardboard Imp' dance move.

To be fair, i think any right minded Imps like Helgy will admit we were better and should have won. I'd be over the moon with a point if we had done that at Sincil Bank. Remember fatty Rhead doing the same thing to us at their place for a very dodgy penalty. Akinde has done it countless times, twice in one game against us when we played Barnet a couple of seasons ago.

Here's some of my favourites from the pre-game thread on us and other comments on our players and general chances this season:

"That article on the Grimsby OS only hints at the strength of Lincoln's squad, and probably deliberately so. The gulf in class man-for-man between the two squads is monumental - place them side-by-side and see for yourself. If the game were to be played on paper..." ScotImp

"Bit like their midfield general Mr Welsh is meant to stop us tomorrow, hasn't had much success so far has he?" DavidImp

"Serious Achilles rupture two years ago, was released in May after an indifferent season.
Exactly the sort of error I would expect an inexperienced manager like Jolley to make." On signing Wes Thomas, ScotImp again.

"In midfield, Welsh is completely finished, a terrible signing. At nearly 35, younger, faster midfielders will run rings round him, even if he can stay fit. " ScotImp on Welsh.

"One defender came from dire Chesterfield (Alex Whitmore), and appears to have been signed because Jolley knew him as a teenager at the Burnley Academy. The other one (Harry Davis) has been playing in the Scottish Championship, which is National League standard at best." ScotImp on half our defence who played today. Whitmore is such a dire defender that he had your £4K a week striker in his pocket until he moved over to Collins.

"Most of Slade's squad had to go because they were dreadful, but the seven replacements so far look no better. Different name, more of the same. " ScotImp once more.

"Prediction: Bottom four. There should be enough poor sides for Grimsby to survive." ScotImp's infamous pre-season review.

In fact I'd just like to point out what a bias, pompous, arrogant and completely misinformed helmet he is  . Near enough everything he spouted as though it were fact was proven wrong today against a team that has a "monumental" difference in class supposedly. Well if that's true Scotty boy then your managers are nowhere near as good as you all claim given the money they've spent and the time they've had in charge because we should have won today and most of your sensible fans know it.

I'm just honoured he's so obsessed with our little club. Other than Akinde, I didn't have a clue who Lincoln had signed and to be quite honest, really couldn't give a excrement so why is he so obsessed with us?

ScotImp is a complete tool, taking advantage of his environment ie a bunch of clueless, embittered Lincoln fans who view his anorak-like stat collecting and match previews in awe. He's just too bitter and full of spite to actually give an unbiased and reasoned match preview/review if it involves Town. He'd be torn to shreds for his bile on any other forum, Luton Outlaws aside

Get out of jail ,daylight robbery ,any of those i really don't like all the pre match predictions of hammerings and said that derby games can really even things out i was wrong on that.

We didn't turn up at all ,formation was wrong and were extremly lucky several times in the 2nd half if it had been a boxing match the ref would have stopped it.

Fair do's Helgy, good luck for the rest of the season, except the return of course. I still think you'll be at least a play off side, but you weren't at the races today. I also think we are not half as bad as some were saying and it's early days in our re-build after Slade destroyed us.

Fair play once again Helgy!

My take on your side on the basis of today is that you look like a side in transition from a more direct approach to playing the ball a bit more. I think today MJ arguably out thought Cowley as your flanks never got going. I know Bostwick from his time at Stevenage and I can see what your manager is trying to do with him at the back but your mid field did look like it’s missing an enforcer.

When you started to do well in non league/cup run and came up you had a real spine and spirit which often meant you won games in injury time and it seemed your players where “in this together” though it’s a snapshot I felt that was missing a bit today though you did deal well with our 2nd half onslaught before the penalty.

All that said league 2 is unpredictable but once again competitive and I expect you guys to be right up there in an automatic spot come May.

Allegedly from some of the gimps, that scotimp eats the yellow blocks in the urinals because he thinks they are free cakes.

Bit disappointed our old friend Mr O'Dare Towncrier hasn't been pontificating on
how magnificent the Gimps 1 - 1 thrashing of us was.... perhaps he didn't come and witness
the mauling of GTFC by his superior 6 fingered numpties.... too scared.... or maybe he was
on civic duties welcoming more yorkies to Skeggy who had comef't day and stopped fert'week...  😉

Yeah, i found that quite astonishing myself. I could maybe understand people thinking we may not win the game, but the predictions of losing by three or four goals seemed a bit pessimistic to me. Jolley actually mentioned it in his post match interview, saying he had been shown what was being predicted. I imagine he shared it with the players.

Well done to the Lincoln fans for finally filling the away end.👏🏼 although there were empty seats visible throughout visible for some reason. But in all the years of going to BP I’ve never seen a full away end so quite. The osmond stand must be one of the best in the country when it comes to generating noise, you only need a dozen fans singing in there to sound loud and the only time I really heard anything was when and just after they scored.

Can't argue you weren't the better team, think there was far too much crap talked about it being a walk in the park.

Judging by my last walk into the High Street last week, half of Lincoln are on Zombie Spice. Maybe the same goes for their following; half on Spice the other half watching team tactics made by a scared Cowley = not much to sing about.

I think now the dust has settled I think there has been a little bit of respect earnt from  both camps. To be fair to Lincoln most of them (morons aside*) have been honest in the comments in that they were lucky to come away with a point and for 70 minutes we were much the better team. Even Danny Cowley, who I dislike intentsly, was magnanimous in his assessment of the game.
I note also that a lot of fans are shouting down those going on about the current attendances and reminding them it wasn't always like that and not so long ago plus it may not be always like that in the future. In addition they also shout down the 'our place is better than yours' constant argument and respect what the decimation of the fishing industry has done to the Town.
I think Saturday have given them a massive wake up call so respect to them for that.
One or two if them have questioned whether we can play with that intensity every week which is a valid point and one that I made over the weekend. Hopefully we can.
Maybe a mutual respect has been delivered which will of course go out the window when we play them at there place but I doubt they will be giving it the Billy Big B@llox they did prior to this weekend.

When you come up against counter arguments like..
Looking at what the children's have written about DC & NC you can see why a lot of them that have posting show names about booze!
it's hard to wonder where we may go from here in trying to discuss things when reading/decoding that. But yes, some mutual respect was shown, more than I've seen in a long time, I'd love some more positive and fair input from them.
