Its a tough one by the letter of the law its a red, but you can see theres nothing in it its not malicious at all, its just a stupid decision made a player bot using his brain. If we did appeal it I don't think we'd get it overturned but I also think we should go for it on the off chance we do, can't see the F.A. adding aby more ganes on for it.

I think we look at all tv evidence ( as would a panel). The we need to be happy that we are well in the right. (In any doubt the FA would rightly back the official).
Then we should decide.

Unlikely to overturn that. He went into the tackle from a long way off with his outstretched leg off the ground and right in front of the ref too.

Seemed a bit harsh at the time as he took the ball, but he did go through and over with studs showing. We had been under pressure so I can understand the intent, but also gave the ref a difficult decision, to be fair he went by the letter of the law. It might have been a different outcome at home but doubt it’s worth appealing. Thought Rose did ok apart from one time when he dallied coming out of the box.

Is it a 1 game ban or 3 and does the Rochdale game count ?

Rose is bloody stupid. Look at Yeovil last season, just because he scored a couple of penalties last season doesn't absolve him of his other crimes. He is poor in possession and makes stupid challenges when he has no chance of winning the ball. Look at penalties conceded against Accrington and PV at home last season. That challenge wasn't 'reckless' or 'malicious' but he gave the ref an opportunity to get his red card out and bask in the self-promotion that all refs crave. It was a stupid decision and only goes to demonstrate why he's a L2 player. Don't appeal it, just play Welsh, Hess and Wooly in midfield and play Vernam in the role Wooly was today on Tuesday. At least one of the suspensions is for a relatively meaningless league cup game.

Would appear there was a similar red card at the Everton game. It was explained by the head of the referees at the FA why that was a red card and even though I thought it was harsh at the time the rules are fairly clear that it should be a red card. Thought the Macclesfield player was a class actor as he remembered to limp for a full minute after coming back on and then sprinted down the line!
Thought we rode our luck at times after the sending off but top marks to Vernam for nicking the ball back and then slamming it in at the near post. Made the trip back more enjoyable!

Looking at the video evidence, you might call it a yellow at a push, but you can see why he was red carded and absolutely no point appealing.

Whilst it wasn’t malicious, it was quite reckless and he didn’t seem to have much control over the tackle. Red card understandable but it shouldn’t be a three match ban.

Will be classed as dangerous play so an automatic 3 match suspension. From this season though cards are competition specific so he will will have to miss 3 league games but will be available to play in the cups....or so I'm lead to believe.

Looking at this it is obvious there was no intent but it still looked reckless Mitch is a good player he will learn from that unlucky not to score. The highlights look great the two goals superb in there own right. Venahams is sheer determination really glad we got him. http://www.skysports.com/watch.....lesfield-0-2-grimsby

If my understanding of the new rules are correct, he can still play Tuesday as cards are now only valid in the competition they were gained, so if we don't appeal that's him out of our next 3 league games, gutted because I think we'll miss his strength and determination, especially against gimpoln next weekend..

Looking at the laws of the game the question is whether the challenge was careless, reckless or serious foul play:
'Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed'
'Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned'
SERIOUS FOUL PLAY - 3 game ban
'A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play'
In my opinion Mitch's tackle was somewhere between reckless and serious foul play.
The club could try to argue that the challenge was reckless and therefore only deserved a booking but my feeling is that the FA would side with the referee, which means a 3 game ban!

Not the case, as all cards get put back to zero at the beginning of the following season, but if we progressed in said cup he would miss the subsequent 3 games in that competition..

Just watched the highlights. Two things struck me
1. The sad play acting Neymar type roll from their player.
2. Not one of their players went to their ‘injured’ player until after they had harassed the ref.
How sad is that.

If you look at the tooltip for a red cross all it says is "disagree with this post". In this case, if you disagree with the assertion that we should appeal then it seems perfectly reasonable to me to click on it. Does that make the person a "loser or nutjob"?

Red card all day, absolutely no point in appealing it. He wasn't in control of his tackle, his studs were showing and he went into the man. I don't think there was any intent and Rose was arguably unfortunate as the poor pass left him stretching for the ball, hence the lack of control and studs on show.
Regardless of what we think of the current laws of the game, it breached them.
If we appeal it won't get overturned. There's no limit (that I'm aware of) of how many appeals you can make but if you appeal every red card, you surely decrease the likelihood of getting the genuine appeals rejected.

As others have said, a red all day long for me. Mitch Rose has a tendancy to go over the top front on with studs showing. He doesn't seem to anticipate too well, a daft challenge IMO and something he needs to work on.

No appeal. I like the physicality he brings to our midfield but he has to make better decisions if he is to retain his place. He got away with dwelling on the ball several times at Macc and became involved in needless handbags at Gainsboro'. Lots of plusses to his game but opposition managers will target his weak areas.

On a side note. Mitch should of scored a ha trick prior to his sending off. Some poor misses in front of goal. Watch the highlights and most would agree? It didn't look a red from the angle I saw it on Saturday but hard to argue with the TV highlights. No appeal.

According to MJ (Pre Rochdale Pess Conference) Rose's 3 match suspension will include the cup game against Rochdale.

Totally agree, not a leg breaker, but very technically poor challenge, totally missed the ball and went through on the players leg. Not so much "mistimed" as totally misdirected
