Just received my Season Ticket information 2018/19 from the club. Might go for the personalised seat wording this season. £20 ...all proceeds are donated to the Youth Development Association. All suggestions welcome

We might be persuaded when we sign some quality players; the Macca signing is one thing, but to get really exciting players well before the season starts is what will sell season tickets and get people to renew. Having said that, if Fenty walks away tomorrow I would renew straight away.

I suggest anything along the lines of ;
"As a fan.. i accept its all my fault" "PR on the pitch" "One of a small vocal minority" "Free the Fishy 5" "Hoping for football fortune" "Poppycock !"

I get what you're saying completely...but on the other hand.... Selling season tickets and getting people to renew is what might allow us to get exciting players well before the season starts.

And that's the dilemma. It's not just about the players either. Some of the stuff that came out of the club last season was appalling. Do we just forget that, and the last 15 years as well, because we have a manager that looks like he might know what he is doing?

After spending most of last season convinced I wasn't getting a season ticket, the likelihood is that I will show as much spine as a jellyfish and end up getting one in the next week or so. I'm still massively in favour of a new man running the show but I'm very positive with Jolley in charge and actually enjoyed myself watching Town at the back end of last season, even though it was nervy.

Lets give MJ as much cash as we can so he can build a team that will be at the top end of the league next season. You know it makes sense, Big green ticks for all those who said they will not renew their ST but have changed their minds.

Great to see most of the posts above with some much needed positivity. The MT are working tirelessly in the background with the football club to try and change the mentality with the tried and trusted and it`s a hard slog. There have been several positive changes in relation to the ST sales already and possibly more to come? I fully believe in Michael Jolley and I expect us to be challenging for the Play Offs a lot of dialogue is taking place to ensure as many Town fans as possible come and support the team without feeling taken for granted.I hope to see a massive push from the Club and MT together in the next few weeks to try and cash in on the feelgood factor since the appointment of MJ and put right the lethargy seen when we got Promoted. These are going to be exciting times in my opinion ? We all know football goes in cycles we have had the long bad run we started briefly on a good one and the chain came off it`s back on now.Get your money out get a season ticket and get £20 on Town getting promoted you will get most of your ST money back.UTM

I think it's the usual priority on cup/away games and the £20 discount on a shirt. There's also something in the literature about free non-first team games, which I presume is the reserves but if they still kick off at 2pm I'm not sure how much of a benefit that will be to the majority of people.

Just thought the wording was a bit odd.
Don't get me wrong, I think reserve team games should be free and if promoted properly the club would probably make more money on tea and coffee sales than the odd £3. Dunno what the cost implications are with floodlighting etc. but I used to really enjoy the Pontins Reserve games. Perhaps the club could utilise the facilities at Bradley or the new Clee Town ground to play reserve games?

Supporting the players, management and whoever is in charge is supporting Grimsby Town and not the individual, could not imagine not going to matches but hey ho each to his own.

But you could argue that by continuing to go under the current regime, you continue to support the individual.
We can grumble all we like about how Fenty runs the ship but if fans continue to put their money into the club and attend games, he'll continue as he is.
Make no mistake about it, the reason Slade was sacked had nothing to do with the protests or the shoddy performances/results. It was because the gates were dropping at an alarming rate.
I dunno, I wouldn't criticise anyone for going or for staying away. I'm pretty certain I'm renewing despite a previous stance of absolutely not. Part of that is habit, another part is because I was entertained and encouraged towards the back end of the season and providing Jolley is given enough scope I think we're in for a good season. But my renewal most definitely is not an endorsement of the current running of the club from the top. The disgraceful way it has been run, especially in the last 18 months, will not be forgotten that easily.
Rather hopefully, I have a thought in the back of my mind that the more successful we are on the pitch increases the profile of the club and therefore the potential of someone coming in with enough money and desire to buy Fenty out. If only it were that simple...

Great post DHM More or less the way I feel too... I feel I'd be cutting my nose off to spite my face by not going.... I can't even consider it to be honest, but I'm aware that any money I put in to the club supports the current regime It really is a Catch 22 and while there really is only one option to end this impasse, we all know the man at helm will not be leaving so this situation is nigh on impossible to resolve

I do not want to tell anyone to go or stay away,
I hope you go but the choice is yours and yours alone,
What I do ask is you think of what your actions might do,
Our average gate before any games start will be estimated at around 4,000,
That will give MJ a budget he has to work with,
Stay away or not buy your season ticket will reduce that budget ,
Renew your season ticket and with the new ones taken into account and our average gate might be increased to 4,500 to 5,000 giving MJ a lot better chance of success,
I believe with a little bit of early season success and a reasonable cup run for a change,
Our average gate will be nearer 5,500 to 6,000 giving MJ even more clout in the transfer market.
Lincoln have gone from 2,500 to 9,000 so it shows what a bit of success can do.
There is no reason we could do the same in fact we would do even better if our ground could hold more people,
So by the end of the season the return of the green seats in the corners could be the order of the day.
I am really looking forward to this season , Come on you mariners !!!!!!!!!

Supporting the players, management and whoever is in charge is supporting Grimsby Town and not the individual, could not imagine not going to matches but hey ho each to his own.
Not many of us could imagine not going to watch our beloved Mariners, except in really exceptional circumstances. Imagine a scenario where your beloved team has had 16 or so years of abject failure; years in non league football and those years that were spent in the league fighting relegation, and sometimes escaping because of other teams points deductions. Imagine the people running the club not having learned a single lesson in all those years of failure. Imagine every season the fans getting slagged off by the board and the main man doing a passable impersonation of Alan Partridge, and for all that we have to watch the football in a stadium that hasn't had as much as a lick of paint for 20 years. I think people are entitled to threaten a boycott under those circumstances myself. The heat is off for the moment because of Jolley, but when the day comes when Fenty will not play ball/wiggles his tie/lets him go too easily/baulks at paying the going rate for players the whole sorry saga will start again. I will continue to go, of course I will because it is in my blood, but I have every sympathy with those who are still weighing it up, and of course there are a lot of people who will never go whilst Fenty is in charge.

I'm still torn over buying a season ticket as i felt like i was an irrelevance to the club last year. A bullying irrelevance at that. It was all our fault that we were sh1te, and we couldn't attract good players and the reason Hurst left, etc etc. Away fans don't count because they didn't put money into the club. Operation Promotion was a massive burden and it had nothing to do with the buying of Bogle. Basically, give us your money, put up with the sh1te and shut up. Now i know if i don't buy one, we will have the best season for yonks and i will end up sat in restricted view seating anywhere i can get, and will miss out on first dibs for cup tickets when we finally draw Man Utd in the FA Cup, after i have sat through season after season of mainly bilge, waiting to see some sort of spark.

I agree totally but over the years I've often said that we keep going through the dire performances wondering why then out of the blue you see an exciting performance and say ' that's why I bother'. I am leading towards renewing in spite of John Fenty simply because I don't want to miss out after Jolley has shown so much promise

Chairmen , Board members, players and managers come and go. I've seen them all in 50+ years but GTFC is the reason I go to BP and watch the Mariners.

I completely agree, rancido. But ginnywings sums it up for me when he says he was made to feel like an irrelevance to the club last year.
For that alone I can understand completely why people won't renew, Jolley factor or not. Eventually people say enough is enough.

Almost 400 sold already is good, nice to see the club are trying to keep the S T banner at the top of the OS, they need to really try get it out their and put it in people's faces. If we can get 3,000 and get a good start to the season we should get over 5,000 most games.

One big myth M.J. well and truly put to bed was players bottling it at Blundell Park when big gates were in attendance. Those last few home games saw a stronger team mentality and physically not seen at Blundell Park for years. It was impressive and infectious the work rate was brilliant if Jolley can continue to do that I'm in. For once in a very long time, I enjoyed my Blundell Park experience as much as going to an away game and that is a credit to Mike Jolly alone. UTM.

Good point Mrs D. Think he brought a sports psychologist in didn't he? Might have had something to do with it. The improvement in team resilience was noticeable by all the late goals we got.

The thing is that if we allow are dislike for the Board and non-Chairman to avoid BP or not renew a ST then we hit the club financially. We could reach a point when the financial situation drags the club down to a point where, even if JF and Co were to leave, we might not recover. I'm not saying we would cease to exist but another relegation into non-league could see us sink into the abyss that York, Stockport and Darlington are in. That could put us out in the cold for a long time.

Look when I phone up and want to buy a ticket on the few times I return home, I don't want the office girls to ask me " where would you like to sit " I want them to say " Findus is sold out but we have a few seats in the Pontoon and the Main Stand " Annoying for me but pleased for the club.

Not really. It's a simple decision if you buy a season ticket or not and that helps the club financially. By dragging JF and the Board into that decision you are just complicating that decision. It's a fact that if fans ,that can ,don't buy a season ticket then that affects the club financially. If the reason for not buying is because of the Board then that financial shortfall will continue until the Board decides to call it a day.

So you are saying the only way to effect change is to inflict financial pain on the board so they 'call it a day'? I think thats what most suspect. the alternative being 'put up and shut up' which has been the boards line for 15 years

Support the team but protest against the board,
You never know Fenty and Co might have learnt their lesson and will remain silent and let MJ do the PR.

Feelings have eased somewhat since but around the height or the Fenty protests there was an awful lot of tall about a phoenix club. I don't think this was the preference for anyone but it was there as a genuine discussion point. When it's got to that point, it's not surprise people aren't prepared to renew.

This sounds pretty much like Project Fear: 'We could reach a point when the financial situation drags the club down to a point where, even if JF and Co were to leave, we might not recover. I'm not saying we would cease to exist but another relegation into non-league could see us sink into the abyss that York, Stockport and Darlington are in. I'd say the opposite is equally true. Unless we see real evidence of changes in practice, we're equally risking the future of the club whilst the present regime remains in place.

By all means protest against the running of the club by any vocal means you think best but I feel that withdrawing financial support is not the answer. It's not a case of " put up or shut up" as I believe an earlier poster suggested but approaching the issues that the club is in by two different routes. Support the club financially but make it absolutely clear that that it in no way reflects how we feel the club is being run by the current regime. I want JF gone as much as the next man, not because I dislike the guy but I believe his tenure has run it's course and we need a new direction that only " fresh blood " can give us.

I think we're not that far apart on it. If I was up there, I'd be torn about getting a season ticket. It's easy for me because it's academic anyway. I think each person needs to come to whatever decision they are comfortable with. Whatever it is it should be respected. We need to find another way.
