Your favourite TV as a child

Brings back great memories from childhood. I used to watch this with my mother back in the day.

What was your favourite?

Too many to mention but off the top of my head I used to love those French programmes that were dubbed into English they used to show in the Summer holidays.

Robinson Crusoe. The Flashing Blade*. Desert Crusader (if that’s the right name). And that one about the Mirage jet pilots.

* bought a DVD if it the other year. Good historical plot but the fight scenes aren’t as convincing as they seemed back then and it’s excruciating listening to the dialogue.

One we can all relate to, especially us who are 40+

You lot must be very young. In the early 50's there was only 1 family we knew who had a tele so each evening at about 5pm a gang of us clustered round to watch Muffin The Mule and The Cisco Kid and Pancho

This used to terrify me when I was a youngster

Jamie and His Magic Torch was suitably trippy 70s fare when I was a kid. As was Chorlton and the Wheelies, for that matter.

My favourite was probably BATTLE OF THE PLANETS. Sorry for the caps, but I think it should be said that way due to the intro. First ever anime on British TV, I expect.

Wonder Years, it still stands up as a classic TV series in my opinion. Perfect warm mix of humour, drama, history and family life. Compulsory Sunday night viewing slotted between the Harry Seacombe God TV slot and Bullseye antidote to the Monday morning dread.

Loved watching all the sitcoms with the family as a kid with this Bill Maynard classic being a particular favourite, 'Magic, our Maurice'.

Used to love dungeons and dragons there are so many that we forget about.

Well done Chris that was a good blast from the past that Veronica Hamel was fit in her day, reminds me of Linda Carter and she must be in her 60s now but would still get it.

Loved Hill St Blues in the day Chris.

Grim reminded me why I used to watch Wonder Woman. And I was no longer a little kid then.  

Going by some of the posts on this thread, a lot of people had more "grown-up" taste in programmes than when I was a kid.

I loved these when I was a kid.

And 3 favourites from my "young kid" days.

And I don't think anyone has mentioned this gem from the late 60's, still spawning offshoots now.

Some good ones Les although a couple I can’t rember seeing when I was a kid.

Now this is a real blast from the past, I loved this!

Maringer has been in touch and said his internet has gone down and asked me to forward this old favourite of his....

Not sure if anyone remembers this series from the mid-70's but I remember really enjoying it.

Just realised they've all 6 full episodes on Youtube so I might have another watch.

Holy Nostalgia Brechinman. My big sisters made me and my brother Batman and Robin outfits out of old sheets as capes and their discarded tights and knickers. How naive we were. They must have been pissing themselves seeing us run round the street dressed like that.

Ha, yep, and if that doesn't work, we send on the yard dog in midfield (literally in this case) to get his teeth into the opposition.

Hong Kong Phooey was ace. I've been nice to janitors ever since especially if they looked like dogs.

I Absolutely loved the A-Team. Airwolf, Knight Rider and British Wrestling were also big favourites of mine too.

"The Woodentops" so I've been told, now I'm showing my age
