I fully applaud this.

However, it will be interesting to see how harshly it is implemented in the Prima Donna League ??

I remember in the seventies, the league were going to get tough on violent behaviour. Basil Rathbone and Duncan Wellbourn were sent off for fighting in the derby against scunny. They received six week bans. Next week Kevin Keegan was sent off for Liverpool, for hitting Billy Bremner, and only got two weeks.

The Rathbone and Wellbourn bans were the longest ever served until the infamous Cantana ban for kicking a Palace fan, some twenty odd years later.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the first player caught diving in the 2nd. division will be made an example of, but when Hazard goes down.....

I watched Liverpool v. Atletico Madrid tonight ( yawn )  well... i was being heavily sedated by
a rather nice red wine... saw a Reds player take a slight tap on the ankle... he took two more
paces and then collapsed on the most shambolic fashion onto his knees... ok... the ankle
tap may have warranted a penalty... but clubs seriously need to think about challenging this
tosser anywhere inside the box.... absolute bloody disgrace... a terrible dive....   but hey

Whilst I'm on the left politically, I find my views are somewhat to the right of Attilla the Hun on footballing matters these days.  

Lengthy bans are handed down to players using performance-enhancing drugs because it's 'cheating'. No problem with that.
But a 2-match ban....for teams with strong squads, and players that possibly will benefit from a rest? My solution:

1st Offence: One month ban - the first week to be spent stacking shelves in a supermarket for 8 hours a day, leaving 3 weeks for the
individual to reflect on what he will do outside of football which is what will happen if there's a 2nd Offence.

What would be a good idea is for the player to be FINED A MONTH'S WAGES.
All this money goes into a pot, and at the end of the season it's equally divided amongst all the top 5 division teams who have had NO
players banned for diving that season.
The amount would mean little to most Prem teams - but might sustain/grow a club further down the order (i.e. down to Conference).

I remember it well and, if my memory serves me right, Basil didn't get paid for those 6 weeks! He didn't half lamp Welbourne though!!
