The same second I think as the Sweden scored the freakish winner last night.

Pub league defending there. Quality finish as you'd expect though.

England are like Town, can't defend a lead and can't deal with free kicks. So why give them away in dangerous positions?

Taking the wider view,  we should be group winners with some daylight.  As we should reasonably expect. Getting to finals is our thing. As is struggling badly when we get to the real business.

Undeserved point for England and hard luck for Scotland. Pity they couldn't hang on.

This clueless pretend Barcelona, tip-tapping around the back four for 15 -20 passes until somebody, usually Rashford, decides to run with the ball is just hopeless. A better side would have slaughtered England.

The manager will not get anywhere trying to copy other sides with the players he's got.

Quite right TRRFC. For some reason, the current team think that a meaningless, pointless pass sideways that you don't need to make and which gets you absolutely nowhere is a good thing. As is tippy-tappy nonsense around the edge of the box when a shot is worth a go.

We're not as good as the best teams so we shouldn't pointlessly pass the ball around sideways against the weaker nations to pretend that we are. Very poor overall today but credit to Kane for getting a couple of decent efforts on target. Alli yet again nothing more than self-indulgent flicks that went nowhere. Both Smalling and Cahill remain carthorses.

I bet the manager thinks this was a good performance though. In the 2nd half I tried counting passes just for a few minutes and twice England reached 20 passes without getting past the centre circle and three times they did more than 15. They either lost the ball or Radford eventually got it (twice) with his back to goal, turned and ran. He could have been given the ball with the 2nd pass instead of the 22nd and had more space to run in. Stupid tactics but it's all Southgate seems to know or want.

If your strength is pace then surely you want to get your quick players into space with the ball asap. You don't want them tied up with 2 defenders on them while you tip-tap around.
