I've had enough of Shaun Harvey, B-teams, League 3 and all that other nonsense the EFL try and peddle to suit the PL.

We should use one of their Checkatrade Trophy matches to set a new record low attendance at BP.

Not just a boycott.

A proper campaign; an operation, if you like, with a name. We're bloody brilliant at those.

Whatever U23 team we play at BP, we use that fixture to see how low we can get our attendance.

In fact, why don't we organise a fans' match on the same night and see if we can get more people to attend that than BP?

That would make an incredible news story, and be a powerful message to Harvey.

We're so p1ssed off with you lot, that we've just created our own match and it's more popular than your competition.

Any other ideas of how we can tell the EFL to shove their Checkatrade monstrosity?

Agree with the sentiment, but Harvey and his mob really don't get it.

No amount of fan protest will bother him.

He needs to be SACKED

Chairmen, get on with it.... you know you can

We can't trust the chairmen, though.

Harvey waves a wad of money in their faces and that's enough to make most of them vote for whatever he wants.

Fans need to stand together on this and do what those in higher positions won't do.

Maybe the League Cup should be boycotted as well? If we were lucky enough to draw Man Utd in round 3 we'd only end up playing a B team anyway (or at the very best an A.5).

I think we are all being a bit silly---if you don't like it do as i do and don't go, but if some fool wants to it's up to him. To most chairmen it's a business so money rules no matter what we say

If money rules then surely people not going will have some impact? We got around 600 for the games last year. I imagine that would be at least 2000 down on what we might have expected. Sheff Utd might easily have got 4-5K under normal circumstances.

Or maybe we can use it as an opportunity to give some of our younger players an opportunity, maybe a Harry Clifton or an Ahkeem Rose, and get down there and support them. This competition isn't going anywhere, and as much as I'm against any inclusion of 'B teams' in the league, which has already been stated that it needs a huge vote in favour from the FL clubs which it clearly won't get, so I'm not that bothered about them playing in a competition that nobody is interested in until they get within a sniff of Wembley. Just treat it like a reserve competition.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Clearly not. The EFL declared it a success regardless of poor attendances and then proceeded to sweeten the pot with more money to compensate.

The saying " the price of everything and value of nothing" couldn't be more apt.

I'd never stop someone from going to the game if he/she wants to. That's totally up to them.

This idea has been floating around on Twitter and there's a real appetite for arranging a fans game on the same night - possibly at the same time - as our match against a B team, and we should see if we can attract more fans to this than the match at BP.

This isn't turning your back on GTFC. It's saying that football is only worth watching if it has fans at its heart.

I'm not sure if this is something the InternetMariners would like to get involved with, but imagine the coverage we'd get if our fans match attracted a bigger crowd than a 'professional' football match.

I think this sort of publicity stunt, whether successful or not, would attract media attention - and it might just encourage other clubs' trusts to do the same.

Strength in numbers. We create our own fixtures because the 'real' ones have been devalued and are just about money and baying to the PL.

Football is for the fans. Let's actually do something that's for the fans, by the fans.

If a game is arranged in opposition, count me in to attend. Can't think of a suitable venue offhand though?

As an alternative we could host North East Lincolnshire's first hobbyhorse showjumping championship during the game. That would make as much sense as supporting Harvey's B-team plan.

Someone's already suggested Bradley... it'll need floodlights, as it'll be a Tuesday night game.

I suppose we should ask whether anyone is interested in playing, if we can get this to go ahead.

This must be what it felt like to be in the Wellington Arms in 1878!

Dont forget that money would make it happen if they really wanted to do it. Sadly , giving 100m+ to prem teams has got us to the place were at now...youngsters hoarded by the elite/rich then thay female dog because they cant play and finally end up at dover, guisley etc having never made a 1st team appearance

Wonder if we could get any other clubs set of fans to have a match with us, would be even bigger of a deal, call it the anti-league trophy

It's all academic now though isn't it? The decision has been made and we are stuck with this dreadful competition for another 2 seasons.

The vote has been cast and we have what we have, that's true.

But we shouldn't roll over.

We have an opportunity to use this dreadful competition to create something positive.

Never stop challenging those in authority. The moment we do, the likes of Harvey go for the kill and start passing more ridiculous rules through.

Spot on. These changes are most dangerous for clubs like ours, clubs that nobody but us give a toss about. For fans to be consistently ignored is unnacceptable. I just hope that Town have voted against B Teams and that we can show a bit of pride about our club.

Just a thought.

But if you could get the interest. Organise the protest game at Bradley. Play for the 'Shaun Harvey' memorial trophy.
Instead of a cup the winners could be presented with a mounted pound sign £.   I'll quite happily donate the £20 I would have spent at BP.
I did spend at the club shop this season out of guilt at boycotting the trophy. But not next year. Not a chance.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Great idea Rich. We shouldn't just roll over even tough this decision is a fait accompli. There'll always be another one.

If the boycott is total are the Prem throwing enough crumbs from the table to outweigh the loss of match receipts?

Time to kill this idea. I don't generally attend FL Trophy games as they're usually northern games so me boycotting won't make a difference. However, I will travel to attend a fans' game. I'd happily make the 400 mile round trip. I'd happily contribute to any fighting fund or pitch hire.

We've shown before what Grimsby fans can do. Let's do it again. Let's be the inspiration for other clubs' fans.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,

Just to confirm guys, I'm the manager of the Internet Mariners team and we would be more than happy to set something up.

This would obviously depend on who our opponents were and whether they could make it over. May need a little bit of support in terms of venues, as clearly we would need a floodlit facility.

But it would be a great chance to show what fans can do as well as raise some money for charity.

Building on this great idea. If an entrance fee was charged and sponsorship received to cover costs and the whole event became really successful and resulted in a cash surplus, a much needed donation could be made to the Disabled Supporters Club..

Point made. Worthy cause benefits.

How about if the opponents were the fans of the team we were playing.

That would be awesome.  Two clubs joined together against Harvey and Co.

In terms of floodlight facility. I know it's getting boring, but I do believe Town fans would raise the money to sort one out.

Would be good if every (proper) club in the competition could get a team together and have a rival tournament. Although even just a fans Lincolnshire Cup would be good. I'd attend and donate a bit of cash.

Civet that would be the plan.

We need to wait for the fixtures to come out and we will be in touch with Rich nearer the time but early plan says we'd look to use Bradley and play against the opposition team - as we try to do most weekends already. When the fixture lists are out we can see if Bradley is free and not booked for other affiliated matches - then start using some of our IFA contacts to arrange the game.

We love the idea though and already had a brief chat with my assistant about how we'd need to go ahead.

Should crowd fund a blimp to go over the ground during the match. It's bound to receive loads of publicity
