Ricky Miller has scored 36 goals this season, 36! Surely he's worth a look at.

Whilst looking at how Harry Clifton is rated by Granthan (see separate thread), I came across the record of striker Danny Maguire at Blyth Spartans.

I wonder if anyone has heard of him and whether we would be interested in him?   He is 24 and has scored 30 goals for them this season (no pens) out of 109 league goals.  He is the League's top scorer if penalties are excluded.

Middlesbrough have this month signed Blyth's second top-scorer, Luke Armstrong.  He got 21 goals and is the son of Alan Armstrong, their former first-team player. There are diamonds in NL if you look hard enough and wide enough.

Blyth are champions and will play in National League North next season.  A decent standard against maybe Halifax and York.   Maguire has been a consistent and  prolific scorer over recent years, of course at a much lower level.

He has been at QPR and Yeovil (as a youth), so RS may know of him. He also played for Halifax for a short time.   He was good enough to be an England C international and was offered a place at Glenn Hoddle's Spanish academy.

Top clubs are now on the lookout for the next NL Vardy.  Maybe we should be looking at for lower NL versions?

His many achievements and honours at Blyth Spartans are shown below:
– Port of Blyth Player of the Season (2015)
– Supporters’ Club Player of the Season (2013, 2014 and 2015)
– Players’ Player of the Year (2013)
– England ‘C’ Representative Side (2014)
– EvoStik Northern Premier Division Team of the Year (2014)
– Blyth Spartans’ Leading Goalscorer (2014 and 2015)
– Cannock Spartans’ Player of the Season (2015)

Signed by Halifax but never turned up citing travel couple of years back.

No more pub team players please - we already have our quota. The number of teams Slade has managed in the past few years he must surely have a few lads in mind

Yeah.

We've a terrible record with the likes McKeown, Pearson, Hearn, Bogle, Mills and Osborne, to name a few, all coming from that pub team level.  We definitely don't want anymore junk like that.

What we should be doing is getting blokes coming down the ladder like Adam Proudlock, Peter Sweeney and Barry Conlon.

Didn't he turn down Bristol Rovers in the January window to repay the faith Dover showed in him after his member up at Luton? Think the intention was to get them in the play offs but looks like they'll miss out. I think he'll have better options but why not ask the question? Goalscorers are going to cost money at the end of the day..

I hear we are in for Ricky Miller but so are about 30 other clubs! 😳

Danny Rowe of Fylde has 45 goals this season so far and avergaes more than one per game. He'll be getting very well paid at Fylde though as they're bankrollered by big money.

There are so many gems out there below that level though who probably just haven't had the right chance or met the right people.

46, is it not? He scored two v Boston on Saturday. I was there. He took his penalty and second goal especially, very very well. Has been around the block though.

He has already turned down both Preston & Blackpool as he's highly paid by Fylde.

They'll have a great season in the Conference, expect them to be in League Two by June 2018.

Money talks.

Miller wanted by Peterborough - so unless either us or Notts Country stump up, he won't be in League Two.

If you could be sure he could do as well as Omar in L2 then it would be worthwile. Could be the missing link to ensure we at least made the playoffs next season. proven goalscorers are always going to demand a premium because of their rareity,

They said that about Colne Dynamoes as well, nearly 30 years ago now.
