"Grimsby Town boss Marcus Bignot says his Mariners have the X-Factor going forward".

Don't know why but this sprung to mind

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

While I don't disagree with MB in that I think we have more creative options in central midfield, we've actually been diabolical in an attacking sense in games at Stevenage, Crewe and Morecambe.

I think the home game against Mansfield gave us a glimpse of our attacking potential, and hopefully this will happen more regularly once the players settle down.

If you listen to Marcus on the way the team played on Saturday,

We will be a lot better if the players take on board what they are supposed to do.

Understand his frustrations re the goal, basics!! Even at this early stage though I am taking what Marcus says post patch with a pinch of salt, win, lose or draw as it feels like there is a bot too much emotion going on in those interviews which usually results in people saying stuff they don't mean.

He frequently says he doesn't 'manage on emotion' and then promptly actually does! This has him apologising to fans, saying people have shot themselves in the foot, explaining how he is hurt by a defeat, using emotive language - all the complete opposite of, say, Hurst's management style, who wouldn't indulge in any of the above and very definitely does not 'manage by emotion'.

It just amuses me how MB says it all the time and then contradicts himself! Not as much as 'war of nutrition' amused me though - that was the best I've heard for a while.

As I have said before imo he speaks mostly balderdash..

In his summery of the Morecambe game all he seems to go on about is the lack of concentration for their goal.

If I'm not mistaken there was another 88minuets (at least) left for him to sort things out.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
