Had Vose been fit, he possibly wouldn't have got a start?

I was thinking during the game who would/could be playing in the role that Berrett was playing today and only really Vose could play that role in his place. Maybe Browne if he has the intelligence (need to see more of him).

Berrett was a pure passenger today and his yellow card late in the game was his first involvement in the game. I'd have left Comley on  when we put Vernon on as at least he was winning a few tackles and showing some strength.

I was at the Bolton match and I was there today - and the difference in pressing was incredible.

Bolton were a very good team and were happy to give us space to play in. They didn't press anywhere near as much as Pompey did today.

Come to think of it, it's been a very long time since I last saw any team press as hard as Pompey did.

The point I'm making is that, in my opinion, these players are all 'footballers' and comfortable on the ball - a hallmark of Hurst's tenure - but when put under pressure, and given no time, they don't seem to know what to do.

I'm not sure if we have 'scrappers' - the roll-your-sleeves-up sort.

Summerfield looks like he just wants to sit in the centre circle and dictate play from there. It's quite a contrast from when I saw him on his debut v Morecambe when he was hunting everyone down, Pouton style.

There's a footballer in Berrett but we're not seeing it.

Jackson and Chambers are both capable of scoring goals, but they seem to be playing as wingers in a 4-5-1 rather than wide strikers in a 4-3-3 so they're no real threat for us.

Bolarinwa seems more of a genuine winger but struggles to get 90 minutes.

Bogle didn't score today, and so it's not surprising that we drew a blank as a result.

Although our defence looks a little shaky at the moment, they know their roles and there's some consistency there. Bogle knows what his role is too.

But what's going on between Bogle and our defence is anyone's guess. It's a bit of a mess.
