I might be jumping the gun here, but my source told me Hurst has gone.
If so, should any of these three managers apply, Mr Fenty, please give the fans what they deserve.
These three being Nigel Adkins, Steve Evans or Carl Robinson.
All have promotions on their CV's, all will have good contacts and all will bring a much needed lift to the club.
If anybody says don't employ Evans, then Ayou clearly don't want this club to progress.
Abit of tax dodging 10 years ago should be forgotten, otherwise we won't be employing quite a few managers!

Evan is stuck in the 80's, a massive new romatics fan as the female products he uses on his face are clear sign of this. Also he is a girl private and I think we have one two many at the club to need any more.

Been speaking to my Leeds supporting mate who doesn't miss a game home and away.
He said bringing in Evans would be a massive coup for this club and would certainly get us promoted over the next year or two.
Said nearly every Leeds fan didn't want him at the club but he won them all round and they wanted him to stay. Cellino f*ucked that up.
For me, it has to be him.
- Every club he's managed has achieved promotion. - His contacts in the game will be critical.
Forgot his past and look to the future. I would say a good percentage of managers are dodgy and in fact, Evans still proclaims his innocence.
Make the right choice Evans.

Agree with Corkyefes
Steve Evans did a good job at Leeds. I saw him close up and changed my opinion of him when I saw him in action. He has a passion for the game and is very hard working. Stabilised the ship at Leeds who were a basket case.

I'd imagine we won't be anywhere near the wage demands of any of them. I think some need to think about our recent past and lack of ambition budget wise and lower their sights a bit.

Yeah, started to think the same and reign in my expectations, although a good manager will pay for himself in wins and higher gates. Speculate to accumulate.

Absolutely. The manager is the most important signing you can make. I pray that JF does not go for the cheap option, for once back this club with some serious money. Imagine the crowds if Adkins was appointed, someone of his ilk and ability would really capture the imagination of the public.

Completely agree, but speculating is certainly not our style under the current administration. Questions remain about the quality of our budget and the willingness of the board to invest in the required coaching staff. It is likely to be someone who is struggling to get another job or an up and comer.

You're probably right. Nice to see we have had a drama free re-introduction to League football. We seem to have some kind of crisis about once a month.

It certainly worries me that we seem to have lost a manager to such an underwhelming club. A couple of our best players to Hartlepool and a manager to Shrewsbury. If that is the case it points to problems behind the scenes.

Absolutely. Think I made a similar remark on another thread. He was so dismissive of the speculation that Notts County were sniffing in the summer. He said something along the lines of: 'I've worked hard to get this club promoted, why would I walk away now?' Seems like he's walked after just a handful of games into the new season. I was never in any doubt that he would eventually leave, but not now - and not for Shrewsbury.

A couple of things strike me...
We might be able to get one of those 'name' managers to do it on a short term basis - say until the end of the season or another rolling deal as it would allow those who can't get a job at a higher level, but don't really want to drop down to L2, to renew their claims, refresh their credentials and brighten their profile generally if they can get us in the play offs, or even better-promoted.
We have great potential in L2 - our league position is good, our fan base is in the top 5 in the league etc. if you must drop down to L2, then the job at Town is one of the best to get, and suddenly, you're being talked about again...
From a Town point of view - a deal would be more affordable if only for the short term. Any manager who could pull that off would then presumably have a L1 job, or an improved prospect of getting one with someone else if they have made a fist of it at Town. Got to be better than sitting about out of work for the next 7 months, and going for the rare Championship or other L1 vacancies against scores of others and not getting the gig.
Also - if we receive some compensation from Shrewsbury, it might allow us to afford a better contract offer than we might otherwise have been able to.

If the news is true then we couldn't compete with Shrewsbury for our manager. I'd be amazed if it's any of those three. I just hope it's not someone completely shite.

Argument either way; An unemployed manager is.....an unemployed manager.....lets face it.....the Premiership is out of reach for those mentioned......maybe half of the Championship too...you are down to about 60 clubs in total as your job market now.....knock off the rock bottom few of League 2....and some minnow clubs maybe 50 clubs left.......and you are left with .....who out of those that are advertising now are most attractive? Those mentioned i would imagine arent exactly strugging financially and with the true sacking season still to come they may be eyeing up sides around the bottom of the Chamionship and thinking...a couple of more losses there and there could be an opportunity...i will stay unemployed for now and await for a juicy plum.

There's a lot of them though. How many vacancies in the EFL are there currently? Not many at all with Rotherham and Shrewsbury just off the market. Agree though, appetite is a big factor. I think it's a buyer's market though. Some of those names have been out of work a long time.....

That's acceptable. 'wor' is clearly just a different form of 'our'. "our' was probably pronounced more like 'oo-ur' so it might even be more correct. No flash or gobby cockney gits though please.
