From what I have seen so far, updated from last night. Would love to hear your opinions:

McKeown - Steady as always, yes we have leaked goals in pre-season but this isn't down to Macca, more the protection in front of him, made a cracking save last night before their 3rd goal.

Davies - Solid, composed on the ball and defends really well. Great signing and gets forward well.

Boyce - Big player, looks strong, calm on the ball but gives away too many fouls in dangerous areas at the moment for me. Positionally can be caught too high up also but difficult to judge in pre-season.

Jones - Good on the ball, average pace, quite strong and certainly won't back out of a challenge.

Andrew - Similar to Davies, looks to be a great signing. Calm on the ball, defends well. Would like to see him push on a further 10 yards as without a natural left footed winger we may struggle for width on that side.

McAllister - Protects the back 4 fairly well, comfortable in possession and keeps things ticking over. Looks to be a good signing.

Summerfield - Has visible quality on the ball, can play the ball about, has neat touches, good attacking intent and made some good runs beyond the strikers especially for his goal. My worry would be he looks like he could be battled out of games.

Chambers - Quite useful yesterday as he was tidy on the ball, linked up well with the strikers and pressed well. Would like to see him run at players more often.

Bolawinra - Diamond in the rough this one, only had 45 minutes last night but he was a hand full when he was on. Unbelievably quick, direct, tricky and runs at defenders with purpose. You can see he is a little raw, once he finds the quality on the end of his runs etc we will have a real player and a constant threat.

Bogle - Very impressed first half as Bogle would turn and run at the defence, link up well with the other players and his goal was a finish of the highest quality. Unlucky to have another goal ruled out for offside. Second half Bogle showed glimpses of quality but as previously stated struggled to link up 2nd half or made the wrong decision when in possession.

Vernon - Was useful in the first half and I don't think it's a coincidence that we didn't hold the ball up and play much in their half 2nd half when Vernon was off. Linked up well, set up the second goal and was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. It will be interesting to see him against Oldham.

SUBS:

Clifton - Did well for the most part when on, composed on the ball, great communicator always talking to his winger and players around him. Played some good passes and intercepted a few balls.

Venney - Looked quite confident on the ball, played left back so was obviously out of position and mid judged a few balls over the top and had his position wrong but that's to be expected. Made some good runs forward and intercepted play on a few occasions. Will be a good experience for him.

Max Wright - Looked lightweight compared to his opponent however showed some good touches, took up some good positions and worked hard for the team. The right side of Clifton and Wright was over ran at times in the 2nd half but the experience will stand them in good stead.

Berrett - Looks comfortable in possession and willing to get forward and makes things happen. I think will prove to be a decent signing however caught out of position a few times especially when not in possession.

Vose - Has clear quality on the ball, running at his full back, playing in dangerous crosses, little combination plays with Summerfield etc. Showed neat touches and played a great ball in for Jackson near the end. Will be useful throughout the campaign.

Jackson - Made some very good runs, which would have had him through on goal had the players spotted him earlier. Was a threat with his pace and was unlucky with a glancing header going just wide. Should have perhaps scored when Vose played him through but his lob attempt went over the bar.

Overall first half we were very impressive, played some good, quick, entertaining football. Should have really been 3/4-1 up by HT. Second half wasn't nearly as good as the first but with the number of changes that was clear to see.

Had a solid game but IMO dived to early for the pen, never saves pens anyway

Davies - Solid, composed on the ball and defends really well. Great signing and gets forward well.
Agree

Boyce - Big player, looks strong, calm on the ball but gives away too many fouls in dangerous areas at the moment for me. Positionally can be caught too high up also but difficult to judge in pre-season.
This partnership with Jones is not as good as the Gowling Pearson one IMO
Jones - Good on the ball, average pace, quite strong and certainly won't back out of a challenge.
See above
Andrew - Similar to Davies, looks to be a great signing. Calm on the ball, defends well. Would like to see him push on a further 10 yards as without a natural left footed winger we may struggle for width on that side.
Improving all the time
McAllister - Protects the back 4 fairly well, comfortable in possession and keeps things ticking over. Looks to be a good signing.
Ok but has not the physique of Clay IMO
Summerfield - Has visible quality on the ball, can play the ball about, has neat touches, good attacking intent and made some good runs beyond the strikers especially for his goal. My worry would be he looks like he could be battled out of games.
My MOM
Chambers - Quite useful yesterday as he was tidy on the ball, linked up well with the strikers and pressed well. Would like to see him run at players more often.
Disappointed with him as a wide player, jury out on this one at League 2 leval
Bolawinra - Diamond in the rough this one, only had 45 minutes last night but he was a hand full when he was on. Unbelievably quick, direct, tricky and runs at defenders with purpose. You can see he is a little raw, once he finds the quality on the end of his runs etc we will have a real player and a constant threat.
One of Hurst`s best signings, he will do well for us IMO
Bogle - Very impressed first half as Bogle would turn and run at the defence, link up well with the other players and his goal was a finish of the highest quality. Unlucky to have another goal ruled out for offside. Second half Bogle showed glimpses of quality but as previously stated struggled to link up 2nd half or made the wrong decision when in possession.
Was a threat all night and is looking his Wembley self
Vernon - Was useful in the first half and I don't think it's a coincidence that we didn't hold the ball up and play much in their half 2nd half when Vernon was off. Linked up well, set up the second goal and was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. It will be interesting to see him against Oldham.
Too early to judge TBF but looked better than what we`ve got as a hold up man at the moment which is zilch
SUBS:

Clifton - Did well for the most part when on, composed on the ball, great communicator always talking to his winger and players around him. Played some good passes and intercepted a few balls.
Out of position and it showed
Venney - Looked quite confident on the ball, played left back so was obviously out of position and mid judged a few balls over the top and had his position wrong but that's to be expected. Made some good runs forward and intercepted play on a few occasions. Will be a good experience for him.
As above
Max Wright - Looked lightweight compared to his opponent however showed some good touches, took up some good positions and worked hard for the team. The right side of Clifton and Wright was over ran at times in the 2nd half but the experience will stand them in good stead.
Never really got into the game and was easily bullied off the ball, one for a bit later in the season for me
Berrett - Looks comfortable in possession and willing to get forward and makes things happen. I think will prove to be a decent signing however caught out of position a few times especially when not in possession.
Complete disappointment last night, for whatever reason, looked like a player who has lost his confidence through relagation
Vose - Has clear quality on the ball, running at his full back, playing in dangerous crosses, little combination plays with Summerfield etc. Showed neat touches and played a great ball in for Jackson near the end. Will be useful throughout the campaign.
Skillful but lacks aggression, its OK to have someone of his ability in the team on that basis though
Jackson - Made some very good runs, which would have had him through on goal had the players spotted him earlier. Was a threat with his pace and was unlucky with a glancing header going just wide. Should have perhaps scored when Vose played him through but his lob attempt went over the bar.
Would have scored playing the full 90 IMO, but PH needed to try the new man

Interesting what you say about McKeown's technique with penalties.

He has saved the odd one, but he has an infuriating habit of lolling to one side as the taker strokes it in the opposite corner - he nearly always moves too early. If he is going to loll why doesn't he loll full length in case it goes that way?!

You would have thought this would have been practised endlessly to try to get him to save more, but if it is it is not having much effect. Luckily we don't tend to concede many penalties touch wood, but not so good if you are involved in a penalty shoot out.
