I'd see him as a direct replacement for Arnold. Right winger who has a goal in him.

Don't forget peeps, we will need a bigger squad this year and that don't come cheap.

Good Option IMO.

Better than Marshall, fast pacy winger, only 26, good squad player to have

All goes by the style of play and service you get, look at amonds record in the football hardly brilliant was it then last season scores 37, so anything is possible

There is always one signing a season that some find puzzling and questioned.

This would be that signing.

I'd be surprised if he came in as an automatic first XI pick, but he's got some quality about him and perhaps Hurst sees value in the money we can get him for as a squad player with a chance he'll do better than that.

He's a winger/striker like Arnold. Goals scored doesn't tell the whole picture as we don't know how he was used and his side got relegated. Their top goalscorer got 9.

Exactly so. It also depends on the position you play and how a manager likes players to play in that position.

If it's true, he's not my idea of an inspiring signing but he could be handy to have around.

Hope Hurst doesn't have him down as a starter. Released from a team which got relegated doesn't bode too well with me but I'll get behind him and cheer him on.

I liked him when he was here and I seem to recall him causing us loads of problems in the York side that went up from the Conference.

Definitely feels like we're gearing towards more of a 4-3-3 type system this year.

Can see him being signed as more of a winger as he has similar qualities as Arnold.

We really do look like we are adding a lot of pace to the side this season. Fresh to see after the sight of our left side last season.

Jones and Chambers may not be considered first 11 but we are gonna need a squad of about 22/23 players season so useful to have in the squad.

Welcome on board boys

Have you not learned by now that what happened at other clubs doesn't shape how a player performs for a new club? Think Nolan- couldn't get in a poor Lincoln side.

He's a good player on his day. It's important that we have good options as there are no emergency loans this season. Will do well playing wide in a 3

Jesus here we go again let's give the lad a chance shall we.

Can't judge him too much on last time he was here as he barely got on the pitch. Although do remember him coming on to score a last minute winner against Bournemouth in the 3-2 win when Colgan let one slip through him.

Did seem to be mobile with decent movement when we've seen him since then so let's see how he does here. Good player to have in the squad would be my reaction. May just suit playing here as Amond/Nolan etc have done in the past.

I never understood why he did that...

He wasn't being barracked that day, scored a goal to win the game and then his antics came out of the blue

Maybe it was something hanging over from Burton when we got relegated.... I wouldn't put it past a few of the "fans" who went that day to have taunted him and he was just giving it back when he got the chance with York

Anyway don't want to start on any sour note....welcome back to the club and let's hope we see the lad who tried hard to impress when he first came to us earlier on that fateful season

Very similar to the Marcus Marshall signing last season.

An ex-player who didn't make that much of an impression in his first spell here, brought back in a couple of seasons later. Marshall started pre-season ok but then went well off the boil so lets hope that Chambers starts off well and carries it on into the season.

Last minute winner aside, I can't remember too much about him from last time - mainly because Neil Woods had signed about 30 players on loan when we could only use 5.

My first reaction was that it's an underwhelming one, seeing as he's come from Dagenham; but PH's record is pretty good so I'm fairly positive he can do a job.

I`m going to jump in hard with both feet on this one, I actually saw his last or one of his last reserve games for us where he played on the left wing and in all truth looked more than OK, maybe he has a decent game now and then and was seen as being a useful cheap utility player for us on the run up.
Saying all that he just was not good enough IMO to be anything else other than makeshift

Listening to his interview he sounds like he has something to prove to himself, admits at his age he hasnt set the world alight anywhere. Cant recall him at all during his last spell but he was only young ( now in his prime technically) and with us at a turbulent time in a sh!t side so would be harsh to judge him on that.

You'll not get another manager that will let unknowns who need a boost prove themselves than Hurst.

Ashley, ring Padraig to lalk about opportunities to shine - he produced 37 for us last year and moved on with our thanks !!

Welcome Fergo. Not saying i disagree but it was a long time ago when he played for us and he was a young lad. I've got a feeling he will be a decent replacement.

Thanks for the link. I think he comes across very well. Realistic about his career to date and sounds genuinely excited about being here. As well he might be!

Agree with that.hopefully he's made the right decision about the right club at the right time in his career. Think the young lad from aldershot could do with some media training from chambers!

Bit puzzled by this but good luck to the lad.
He will have my support 👍🏾

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I wonder what position York were playing him when he nailed 10 goals in League 2 back in the 2012–13 season

Found this off Sky Sports from that year >> http://www.skysports.com/football/morecambe-vs-york-city/teams/263262
