I'm really sorry he's gone. Was a treat to watch a midfielder in the Conference so comfortable on the ball and so keen to get hold of it and influence play. Good offer for him to go to League 1 so can't blame him and wish him well.

I was going to post that but decided not to.

We wouldn't have got anything for him even if he was under 24. Those payments are to reflect development work teams have done bringing through youngsters. We'd have done well to claim we developed him much in 4 months.

Disappointing and will be very hard to replace. Always wants the ball and set piece delivery is consistently very good - rare credentials. He was absolutely instrumental in all 3 wembley goals. Sad to lose him.

I can't fault him for going if he's got more money a longer contract plus a league higher , there's no room for sentiment in football these day , just ask some of our players that have found themselves out of work today

Bit of a blow.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Thing is, he might not make a fist of it at Chesterfield, even though I hope he does.

Football at this level isn't the high octane stuff of the National League with only one promotion place available, play offs apart. Relegation from Division 1 isn't the end of things either, where it is from division 2. His game might not suit this level, who knows?

Hopefully we'll have not just one, but hopefully two semi decent midfielders of his ilk to take his place. No one man is bigger than the club. We move on.

Shame, I always thought he was a tidy player since
Seeing him for Stockport. Exciting when he runs with the ball, will be a miss.

Echo all the comments Jon had a touch of class and was the main play maker whilst here. He looked very comfortable on the ball but his movement and keenness to get the ball was refreshing to see. He wanted to run the show and did so, always looked good and shielded possession with a  great turn that often out foxed opponents be a tough one to replace but good luck to him.

Big shame, but it has turned out to be a mutually beneficial 4/5 months. Played a very influential part in our promotion and put himself in the shop window. I genuinely hope his career kicks on now as he looks a class above the National League and League 2. Good luck to him!
