He's just posted a message on Facebook thanking fans aswell as wishing us look for next season.

Quality guy be sadly missed gave his all when given a chance but due to injuries I don't think we ever saw his full potential.

All the best of luck mate. Always be welcome at Blundell Park.

Provided some decent back up, scored some good goals but wasn't good enough for league football IMO.

Good decision. Thanks for all the efforts JP

Glad he got to put the heartache of that penalty behind him with promotion.

I think this is the right decision, but I'm so pleased that he got on the pitch in the Playoff Final to put the Bristol Rovers thing to bed.  Hopefully the euphoria of promotion helped him mentally.  Good luck to him wherever he goes, he could be an asset to someone.

A good squad player and played his part over the last two seasons.

Just as he would get going again properly after a lay off he would get injured which was really unfortunate for him because he did get a few goals. In the nicest possible way his infamous miss at Wembley would probably go down as our most glorious penalty miss when you consider the following months and season.

Good luck in the future JP and thanks for your efforts.

A great player but too injury prone I'm afraid and there's no room for sentiment. I agree with this one, thank him for his hard work (seems a lovely bloke too) and wish him all the best.

A better player perhaps than we ever saw because he is so injury prone, one of those unfortunate players destined to spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. A great pity for the lad, his ability level is certainly L2 or higher but it wasn't to be.

Good luck JPP, great squad player just a shame for both you and the club that you kept getting injured. Hopefully find a good club where you can be a good asset.

I disagree with this - at his best and at full fitness, he was very good for us.  I was never unhappy to see his name on the teamsheet.  Issue was more about vulnerability to injury.

However his departure seems a strong statement that PH is raising the bar for next season.

If he can remain fit he'll get 20 goals for national league side. Was a decent super sub but without emergency loans his injury record was always going to count against him having a league 2 contract.

Good luck JPP all the best for the future.

I think he will absolutely be an asset to someone

Whatever lies ahead for JPP and whoever he goes on to, you have to say he has got undoubted ability and although he'll no longer be with us, he can definitely take some comfort in the knowledge he played his part in getting our team promotion. That will always be on his CV

Good luck for the future for him....hope things work out well after GTFC

Don't get me wrong he worked hard and turned in some decent performances. I'm not slating the guy I'm simply suggesting he wasn't league standard.

He wasn't better than the front two we currently have therefore for me, he wasn't the league standard we needed. We have to be absolutely ruthless now.

Can't argue this decision.

Really, really good player in there but as so many have said just too injury prone.  This season he never really got going and we can't take passengers into League Two with us.

Can't fault his attitude one bit, just one of those unfortunate cases of a nice guy not getting any rubs of the green.

If someone can keep him fit, especially at Conference level they've got an absolute quality player on their hands.

Not league standard? Spent most of his career at a higher level and there is an excellent player in there who would have achieved a lot more if not for injuries.

Thanks JP and good luck.

Looked pacy and energetic when he first joined but has seemed a greatly diminished player to me this season. I just think he's never got properly fit this year though he's done OK when coming on as a sub on occasion.

Just had a quick look at his stats for the season and 5 league goals from 9 starts isn't too bad a record for a backup striker and he did quite well last year so I expect he will find himself a reasonable club without too many issues.

I'd settle for a replacement who had the same ability but without the injury problems!

only because he's so injury prone .easily good enough for league 1 if he was fully fit and could get a consistent run behind him.
no reason why he shouldn't find himself another pro contract.him and east would both be good signings for the new man at lincoln

Apart from a couple of games where he scored two fine goals I don't think he showed the form he had last season especially in some of the recent games coming on as a sub.

Wish him all the best as he seemed to have a great attitude and thankfully that memory of that penalty miss has been put to bed now we have been promoted.

Would have been great for us if he hadn't had those injuries. Some blistering performances.

Best of luck for the future JPP.

Shame he was injured so much.

Hope he does well wherever he ends up.
Thanks for your efforts in getting us out of that excrement league.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
