Widely reported 14 of the 16 Braintree players are back to work today can our players really regard themselves as professional athletes or just non league plodders mugging a living ? I just can't get my head around how they seemed so lively compared to us

I'd be guessing more half a dozen of ours will be looking for jobs outside of football next week

It's not just us, they did finish third after all and nearly everyone in the league is full-time. The top part-time players are obviously as good if not better than the worst pros. It's a good way to earn two incomes so it must appeal to some people.

Absolutely  rob. Clearly they are as good as us football wise (maybe better) but guys training full time should be fitter imo than guys training twice a week doing in some cases manual jobs, we didn't look fitter

In a better position than the full time pros as well. They have jobs they can fall back on if they get the sack.Hence if players get the sack at our club the lives and that of there family's are affected. Eg looking for new clubs, potentially uprooting any kids/family etc.I prefer my boy though to be in a  Braintees players shoes as opposed to Towns though.Life is all about money at the end of the day and at our level clubs cant provide financial/job security for players if there doing it at as a sole source of income .Eg  £35 k on a 1-2 year deal and then what?

A friend of mine was talking to the Braintree supremo after the game in the Notts last night.

Apparently when they played Barrow in a night game recently they arrived back home at 6 a.m. and 13 of their 16 players were at work at 8 a.m. (**Gulp**)

Braintree are a well organised fit team and deserve to be where they are,

( gulp I hate saying that ) but its true,

Now why can't Hurst get our team organised ?

Maybe we should look for a  PT Teacher to take over next season.
