Can anyone on here confirm -
a, Fenty owns blundell park and the land.
b, Planning permission will or has been given for 98 houses to be built on the land when blundell park finally gets demolshed.
If this is correct then why doesnt fenty put in the funds required for a new stadium, then have the houses built by himself on his land, then if they sell at say £100.000 a house, thats over 9 million quid. Obviously theres the costs to build the homes but i reckon there would be a tidy profit to go towards new stadium funding. Dont know if im missing something here sure someone will put me straight. cheers.

Do a search on the council website and see if planning permission has been approved for building developments at BP. Without actually being arsed to look, I'd say no seeing as it's still being used as a football stadium by a club that has no intention of moving any time soon.

I know that houses take up less room than they appear but I agree 98 does seem a lot, I'd have thought 50 at the most.

Im not one for rumours but I was told by someone close who worked for his brother at expressions. This was around the time the never to happen great coates project was in full swing, Apparently Paul fenty let it be known once town moved to the new stadium, expressions would get the work to install doors and windows on the 90+ homes that where to be built once the new stadium was up and running. I know this is not concreate evidence which is why I asked the questions, Also heard same kind of thing from other sources.

Fenty doesn't own the ground. The council doesn't own the ground. The ground is owned by Grimsby Town Football Club plc. This is a legal entity in its' own right; you can buy shares in the business but all that entitles you to is a share of the profits and a vote on important matters. It doesn't get you the ground, even if you have 51% of the club.
Besides, according to Companies House the last time I looked, there are two mortgages on the ground, both provided by Lloyds TSB. So they have a charge on the ground so nothing can be done until those funds are repaid.

I stand corrected. It appears that the charges on the ground were cancelled in 2004 when the funds were repaid; one mortgage was with Lloyds TSB, the other with John Shelton Fenty. In 2007 a debenture - a document that either creates a debt or acknowledges it - for £400,000 was created in favour of John Shelton Fenty.

They used to say build two and one is profit so yor 9 million is now four and half less 1 million to clear the site and your profit not looking quite as good

I could be wrong Woz, but i feel sure i read somewhere that we d'ont actually own Cheapside, just rent it, i would have thought in our financial position it would have already been put up for sale if we did own it, cause as you say, it would generate a hefty sum for housing in that location.
