TOWN V NEWPORT JUST WHAT WE NEED

A win at the weekend, preferably with another clean sheet, should be the objective right now.

Concentrate on playing well against Newport, keeping tight at the back, getting the fans behind the team.

A good win could put a few on the Port Vale gate.

The managers can't possibly plan properly for Port Vale until they know who has not been injured, got a knock etc.

They will have a desired line up in mind, and hopefully a game plan based on playing at home.

It's a must win / one off / knockout cup game, so they need to score a goal or goals to win - hence they will need to play in an attacking vein.

Personally, I'm hoping that the ball will stay on the floor more, then Hearn and Elding (if playing) will benefit more from service.

I would also hope that Jamie Green is fit to play, possibly in both games, on the left flank in front of Conor Townsend. Two interchangeable left sided players who can both defend or attack, also providing good quality crosses, much needed on a regualr basis from that side.

So,........ Newport first, would another five at home be the target?

It would be great if the players proved their capabilities and promise to both managers and the fans in both games.

Yes, there is an expectation, as there has been all season, and the line up is slowly edging towards a more balanced group that must now produce the goods. Quality wins will bring fans back - we need to be shown that our layout of earned money to watch Town is giving value for money and our time in attending games.
