Would be interesting if the German Football Federation wanted to mark their war dead with a symbol on the national team shirts. There would be uproar here and across Europe.

I can see the logic behind them not allowing any such symbols if I'm honest.

Edit- just to be clear I always buy a poppy and fully support the cause!

Very true Pete, but most of the ordinary men on both sides would've been fighting because they had to and would've been branded the lowest of cowards if they hadn't, it was really sodomist all to do with politics for them, that was for the men in power.
If any of us were German at that time we would've fought for Germany, no doubt about it.

Looks like FIFA have saved our John's bacon this week.  There's always next week John!
In truth our FA should hang there heads in shame over this. Just do it and take the fine. As an ex forces man myself it sickens me to bow to the FIFA organisation that has many wrong within it!
