Well, what a turnup. Maybe Quakerz will fill us in on the details, a few months ago it was all praise for Cooper, he'd slowly turned the team around. It wasn't pretty but they shored up the defence and piece by piece the team was shaping up. Apparently not though.....that Wembley final really seems to have knocked them off course.
Wonder where he'll end up now. Back to Kettering?

I say we sack Scott and Hurst now, get Cooper in and that gives enough time to sack Cooper before the season ends. SACK! SACK! SACK!

Bet he regrets remaining loyal to Darlo and chasing the Wembley dream right now! He could be here instead leading us to a relegation battle and look forward to getting sacked in a few months instead of now.

He be-littled players in public, constantly putting them down and calling them old fogies. He was going to play the YOUTH team in the FA Cup game on Saturday.
He lost the plot, sorry to see him go after seeing him gift us the FA Trophy.

You can do better than him.

Large club with promotion the aim. Manager given a decent budget. Manager wastes budget and buys all the wrong players. Team is shite and festering towards the lower end of the table. Manager slates players for not doing what they should be doing. Fans lose faith !

It all sounds very familiar doesn't it !   http://www.darlington-fc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10339~2492825,00.html

Obviously results haven't been good this season but I thought they were a good side at BP when they beat us this season. And last season to be honest.

If cooper is one of them 'bigger than th club' types what is rob Scott. He comes across as a complete egomaniac who loves the sound of his own voice...

It seems darlo find themselves in a similar situation to us. Thing is though, I don believe sacking our pair of clowns will do any good. After the comments in tonight's telewag he doesn't do himself any favours either, slag off players for having issues managers are paid to solve etc...

Cooper is a manager who's name is always being banded around when a lower league club sacks their manager but he seems to have done very little to gain this so called reputation...

S'all part of football isn't it. I wanted it to work out for him so bad. He's a half-decent bloke who brought me the best footballing day of my life at Wembley, and I will thank him forever for that. But, results this season have not been good enough.
There has been all sorts of rumours about disruption amongst the players and the management team, therefore players haven't been played with any confidence.

There's been all sorts of rumours about who'll come in. Most sections of Darlington fans want David Penney back at the helm, he's been to a few of our games this season. So he'd know the players he'd be working with.

But I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with someone with Middlesbrough connections as our Chairman is a Middlesbrough fan. Also, Gary Pallister does work for us and he has connections with Middlesbrough as does our recently departed Managing Director Graham Fordy. So, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it is something to do with that.

Only way is up now for Darlo .. Hopefully.

I;d bite at the chance to see Cooper here, when we played Darlo a couple of months back I just remember thinking how different things could have been with him in charge, he's not done too well at Darlo this season but they have a lot of problems, money, attendance and many more, they way he sets his team out to play is something were crying out for at the minute, solid, hard working, defensively sound team...

Julian Dicks wants the job.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

A few Terry, if Parker had not resigned halfway through talks with Cooper, he would be our manager now,

QUESTION,

If we can have joint managers, way can't we have SCOTT, HURST AND COOPER as a management team. ?

Been coming really. His comments after Saturday's match were the final straw and smacked of someone who'd lost the plot.
There was no way he was going to come back from Saturday's comments, not with the players at least anyway. Lets be honest if your boss was savaging you every week you'd probably get sick of it as well.

Sounds familiar

Because he was in talks with Parker + Fenty,

THEN

Parker resigned and Cooper said he was very tempted but decided to stay at Darlo,

Parker was the one who chose Cooper , so you can work it out why he did not take up the offer .
.

We don't need to be looking for a change of manager at present. However, there is no loyalty in football these days, Cooper decided to stay at Darlington when he could have left and now he has been rewarded with the sack, pathetic.

Not pathetic, he was employed to get us results and he didn't get them. Therefore he isn't up to scratch at his job.

This wasn't Cooper's first season though.
If we are in this position next year I would be calling for S&H's heads too.
They had a good team at the end of last season but don't seem to've built on it very well - in fact the opposite!

Grimsby Pete is right

Actually Mr Burns told me that Cooper and Dryden accepted terms and all was agreed on the evening of the infamous bust up. Them to take over on the Wednesday.

He said Fenty begged Parker to hold off with his resignation till Thursday which he refused. Cooper turned his back when he could see that he would be jumping out of the fire into the frying pan following Parker kicking off.

Parker Statement
On Town's search for a new manager, Parker commented: "Since the departure of Neil Woods, John and I have been working on appointing a specific individual.

"The club is extremely close to making this appointment, and I would hope for an announcement before the weekend."

I think we should wait till March, when we'll be about 14th in the table. Sack these 2, hire Cooper. Give him a whole pre season and let him build his own team, then when we're around mid table in say January 2013, sack Cooper. Its the answer to all our problems..

Apparently, all betting has been suspended on Craig Liddle taking over as next Darlo manager. He's been caretaker a few times before I think.

He's been at Darlo for around 14 years now. Player, Youth Team Manager & Caretaker Manager several times.

Well it seems to have worked so far..... I see no reason to change our current ethos!!

Colin Cooper looks set to be installed as the new Darlington manager within next few days apparently.

PS; Fleetwood made an offer for Liam Hatch a few weeks back, but we knocked it back. He would have had a long contract and doubled his wages aswell. Just thought yas should know
