What was the point in him buying all those shares only to give them away? Is he now nothing to do with the club at all? I'm really confused by all of it.

Mike Parker is still a significant shareholder in GTFC even after gifting the 500,000 shares

Until we know otherwise, I think we should just treat it as a gift to the fans and give them a voice.

This!, I think as a fan he's probably upset the majority dont have any say at all within the club, And probably to take some power away from Fenty and the board members already

If the trust accepts the shares and are allowed to do so, what financial guarantees will the new amount of holding shares force on them as a yearly requirement - we are losing money and need financial backing not just fans' voices giving their opinions.

I think he had to give away the extra shares or take the club on which he doesnt fancy doing, I'm not knocking him for that as hes been good enough to help the club whilst its deep in the excrement - same as John Fenty , whatever people think - he's a fan like the rest of us -the only differance between us is I wouldnt have the balls to chuck 2 million into something I knew I wasnt going to get a penny back for.

It's not often I quote the bible but wealth is relative Luke 20:45-21:4As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
The parable means that you spending your last tenner on a ticket to BP or even going overdrawn to buy a Town shirt are actually giving more than Fenty and Parker.

very dramatic, except we wouldnt exist now if it wasnt for JF wealth. We would without the odd tenner

Don't think anything will be sorted until the AGM, it's looming soon isn't it? I suspect all the dealings are being done behind the scenes now, with an announcement at the meeting. As to what the 'deal' will be, I suspect it will either be more of the same with JF back at the helm, or a wholesale change in ownership. Both avenues are riddled with dangers. I could of course be talking absolute balderdash, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't be surprised if JF wants out of the club. I've also heard on the " rumour mill " that one other director wants out. Maybe they feel that with all the abuse and hassle then it's no longer worth it. I've heard that JF has received " hate mail " at his own address and his partner wants him to walk away from the club. If these things are true then I wouldn't blame him for calling it a day.

He did resign on the very day he was made TOTW for the second week running. Must have been the final straw. I hope he comes back but wouldn't be surprised if he's had enough.

The way Parker has dumped his shares on the trust probably spells the end of any immediate take over. The whole fiasco leaves the club in a mess and is typical of Fenty's time with club, his reaction to Parker taking the major shareholding looked spontaneous and empassioned but it was an issue he must have known about for ages as he and the board approved the share purchase.
The treatment Parker has recieved from the current board has been frosty to say the least and Fenty's public outbursts against him would suggest that the two would never be able to work together.
I find Fenty's benign loans the major stumbling block in any possible progress for the club, if he has written them off in his mind why not make it official? He said he would only ask for them back if we get a rich chairman, this means any possible investor would have to factor a further 2 million pound into buying a broken club and pay it to the man that has broken it.
The man should never recieve a penny of his money back out of the club and should have the decency to write of the loans and allow the club to move forward.

Obviously he should be able to receive monies from selling shares but WHS It's one thing saying loans won't threaten the club, it's another if it's stopping the possibility of investment into it.
I think your phrase "end of any immediate take over" is spot on.
Not saying it will necessarily happen later, but factually it's correct.
Seems to me some fans are in a difficult position - they don't want the club to suffer but they don't necessarily want to fund Fenty's return as chair. (though I'm sure quite a lot do) But they know if they don't, a major investor might walk away too. (is it a bluff or not ?) and they don't want that either.
Is this what GTST mean when they say "get them by the balls" ?
In any case, where are the guarantees or re-assurances from JF ? (or MP for that matter) Do the fans know he'd be prepared to put his own money in even if they do ? You might say it doesn't matter cos the club is gonna die and maybe you're right, but how long can the fans keep the club afloat all by themselves without any assurances or agreement from the big 2 ?
