IS he fit yet or what? With Brad wood being out we need a right back, I know Charlie can slot in there or Connor marshal but I would prefer Silk the stranger and not a round peg in square hole. Haven't seen much said about him so anyone know whats the crack?

I think he's still injured. There's been no talk of him returning to training, I think it was a six week job but it must have been six weeks ago.

He played about 5 minutes in the first game, hardly a glowing reference cotd

I thought he had returned to training last week at the same time as Ridley? Obviously had longer out than him mind.

I would rather play anyone other than Silk because he won`t be match fit and will be always be a risk for another injury

Connor Marshall is a defender so it wouldn't be a square peg in a round hole, to be fair, in his case.

Yes I know but Charlie is ahead of him so I expect him to play if Silk isn't fit which looks like the case.

But Charlie plays in a different position. That's like saying Artus is ahead of Duffy so he should play if we drop Elding.

Yes thats what I am saying it will be a square peg in round hole because IMO I think S&H will pick Charlie ahead of Connor and will play tomorrow even if that's not his strongest position.

I'd expect the back four to be;

I'anson Garner Pearson Ridley

Not much else to choose from with Wood suspended and Kempson Green & Silk unfit

According to RH Kempo picked up a knock on Saturday against wrexham so think Charlie will take his place and Connor will take Bradley woods

Kempson out aswell   is Garner fit yet then? is the other question, bet the managers wished they played Steven Watt a bit more last season to trigger that clause

If the gaffers don't play Marshall tomorrow night then there was no point letting him come back to train with us.

Our two right backs are out - if he was ever going to get a chance this is it.

I thought he looked alright in pre season, looks like he will get his chance then if Kempson is out and no garner, if he doesn't get the chance they  might of kept him on to get experience with training with a first team squad as he was willing to do it for free, respect to him though for working for nothing.

Why did he retire? I don't think he ever gave a reason? He's only 32 now isn't he?

Not 32 until November. A great shame really, a very good player at League 2 level.

As for why he retired, I'm assuming it's linked to the hernia injury that kept him out for so long in 09/10. But yeah, I can't remember a retirement actually being announced.

I asked him  (Stockdale) at the last home game of the season (last season) about this and he said he "could still do a job week in week out, especially at this level" but that it wasn't where his services had been required. He also said he loved the Youth job. Pity because I too felt he would have been absolute quality a tthis level with a good experienced head.

Stockdale would be without doubt the best right back in this league if he was fit.
