...of an adult with learning difficulties who uses the Queen Street Resource Centre, The Molson Centre or has respite?

I ask because my brother has been informed that he no longer qualifies for the latter and that there are serious questions over existing day care provision for him. I want to find out it anyone else is in the same boat and what action could be taken. If you are affected please PM me.

All matters will be held in strictest confidence. If you know of someone in such a position please ask their permission first before putting their details forward.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

Not in need as yet but I'm worried that disabled adults are going to suffer greatly. I accept the need for cuts, we're in shed loads of debt, the council has had its funds reduced but I suspect adult social care is the softest target of all in that the recipients are not necessarily able to defend themselves and that their carers tend to be parents (my brother is looked after by our mum) and as such are older and not so 'streetwise' as they once were.

At the moment I want to see if there are others who are facing this situation and how we can take such matters forward. But thanks for your offer, I may take you up on it one day.

Does your brother need intensive, round the clock care? My brother has Humbercare popping round once a week (or sometimes fortnightly) to check on him and help him with any financial matters (that was arranged by the people at the Molson) but they've recently said they're not visiting him quite as much now. Probably due to budgets being cut I reckon.

A few monts ago he had a letter off the DSS saying something about him having to pay for the visits he had from Lincs Quality Care, so we stopped it as they were useless anyway.

The company I work for have struggled in the recent downturn, local authorities are sending young adults with learning difficulties to main stream colleges and schools rather than specialised college. This will save money in the short term but cost them a lot more in the long run.
