Arsenal are direct, it can involve silky passing but instead of knocking it about sideways and probing for gaps is more a case of get it into the danger area quickly and put the opponent under. I'd say we have a 'mixed' style, which is most likely the best as options to differ play.

Nice for us to be the physical ones now after being bullied off the Park for as long as we've been in the lower echelons.

Direct ? Artus was silky, Walt ran with the ball and used a slide rule for some passes.

Physical ? Have they played Fleetwood yet ?

Ye we were direct. We passed direct from one player to the other until we stuck it directly into there net then Brad stuck it direct into there net from 35 yards

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I thought we played a nice mix of styles - we certainly passed it a lot more than we have done, and more crucially we passed it around in the right areas. Once we were within 40 yards of their goal we looked to keep it on the ground at all times (apart from the occasional cross).

This is what Scott and Hurst promised us. They said they wanted to encourage passing but in the right areas. I don't think you'll see us knocking it across the back four or trying to thread the ball through midfield. I think our tactic is to get the ball into the final third of the pitch and make it stick there - either by the strikers holding it up or feeding on loose balls. The Hayes defenders would win headers but Disley and Artus were excellent at pickingh up the clearances - and then we got down the channels and worked openings for ourselves.

In my opinion I thought yesterday was the first time the players got what Scott and Hurst wanted them to do.

You dont get out of this league playing pretty football, Hurst & Scott are trying to get a good mix IMO like richmariner said yesterday was a nice mix between long and short football. If am honest i couldnt care less what Hayes's managers thinks, after all we won 3-0 and out played them. Probs sour grapes.

I didn't think we were very physical, although H&Y did look like the least physical team I've seen this season.

He wasn't slagging our approach off just saying what he saw and that his team didn't turn up which meant we owned them, who cares if we're direct anyway? You still only get 3 points for a win regardless of how pretty it is.

Gotta love that 'his team didn't turn up' bit he.  Maybe it was a case that we were simply much better than they were?  Still trying to understand how we didn't get a proper hatful against them to be honest.

Thought Hearn was outstanding and Disley in the middle and Green at right-back looked most excellent.  Very few had a bad day at the office it has to be said, although I still can't work out quite how Serge is worth a starting place ahead of Eagle.  Especially when it was plain to see how well both Eagle and Green worked together once that change was made on the left.

The only other notable point-out sadly has to be Elding.  My oh my...

Perhaps your judgement isn't that great on players either.
