Well the last two paragraphs seem to suggest otherwise. I think fans have every right to be concerned, this may seem arrogant to some but FFS a club of our size should urine this league and maybe even league 2. It seems to me that some people are content to accept our current predicament when they shouldn't. Like I said we have the 2nd/3rd biggest budget in the league and we got copulated over 5-0 by part-timers. Look at York, they've put together a very good team and according to a friend of mine who's a York fan, Garry Mills has re-built a title challenging side for much less. I've saw them play on tv against Fleetwood and they look like Real Madrid compared to us at times. We've had 10 years of misery pretty much. If the club aren't careful more supporters are going to do what Scott says and vote with their feet. He should be trying to encourage support not turn t away by acting like a tosser towards supporters. At the end of the day, we are the people that pay his wages..

If I might venture an opinion...I truly do not believe that people "accept our current predicament". I think it's more a case of some not accepting that it is going to take time (a later poster mentions that it's taken York eight years to get to their current position) to arrest the slide. Each new manager comes here on a wave of unrealistic expectations and at varying points into their respective reigns are hammered because those expectations are not met fast enough. I am on record as saying that we shouldn't have sacked Neil Woods-certainly not in a million years at the point of the season we did. Sadly the situation since has proved for me beyond doubt that the sacking of Woods was the biggest mistake of the last five years. By sacking Neil John Fenty and the rest of the board virtually condemned us to at least another full season down here after this one. The board should have known that a change of manager would inevitably mean serious upheaval on the playing staff front-an upheaval that in all honesty couldn't be justified based on the clubs position at the time of the sacking of Woods. None of this is the fault of Hurst and Scott. They are, as many posters have said, on a pretty steep learning curve. They are making mistakes-regularly. They may well learn from them given time. We simply have to give them that time because I for one and I suspect I'm not alone, do not think the club can survive another huge shake up. It is a great pity that a large number of the regular posters on here couldn't see that the time invested in Woods was totally wasted by his sacking. The very least we can all do is try to ensure that we as fans are not party to the same crash and burn tactics before the two new managers have had a chance to shine.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

I know fans are entitled to their opinions, but it truly amazes me at times how people generate such far-fetched views! According to some fans we played well against Cambridge, what a ridiculous statement! We passed the ball sideways against 10 men for 70 minutes before the occasional hoof forward to give them the ball, the tempo was so slow it was embarrassing, i didn't see any of the "come on, we've got a man extra and a great chance to kick start our season" endeavour that we should have seen and it took an extremely controversial goal to claim the win against a side who looked more like scoring with 10 men than we did with 11. Then u get those fans who say "who cares we won?", when surely they need to look at the bigger picture which is more important? It didn't seem to register with many fans that we would struggle to get many more wins throughout the rest of the season if we play like that again.

So roll on yesterday against Darlo. No changes made despite the lacklustre (yet winning, i know!) performance on Tuesday, with comfortably our best player IMO Coulson warming the bench. Our back four really concerns me, Ridley's legs have gone bless him. I think he's at that stage in his career where injuries are constant and he just looks 'leggy', like running is a big struggle, which in modern football is a massive worry as wide/attacing players are often very quick. Kemps and Pearson are the exact same player, big, brave, strong, good aerially, so so slow and absolutely comical on the ball. I know they weren't everyones cup of tea, but Steven Watt/Rob Atkinson look like big losses to me now as at least they tried to pick a pass form the back, so i think its a massive shame that neither we replaced with a centre half who can look after the ball a bit (there must be some out there coz other teams seem to have them!). It worries me that teams look at our slow back line and exploit us week after week, and our defensive line gets deeper and deeper during games because of this lack of pace, meaning we cannot squeeze out and support our strikers whatsoever. Started well with better tempo which was pleasing to see, but unfortunately we didn't make the most of that start as Darlo found their feet. I presume most of u fans saw the lop-sided formation we played, which is fine if u get it right, but if all of us can see what the problem is with Brad Wood having to defend against 2 all first half, which led to 2 goals surprise surprise. Why didn't Shorty and Shouty see that glaringly obvious issue as quickly as we did and make some changes!?!? To me another piece of concerning evidence to add to their ever-improving CV, the inability to adapt to a plan B if their ill-prepared plan A fails. Credit to the players though who despite this kept plugging away and created chances, keepr made some great saves. Coulo comes on for second half, we score a goal early doors that comes from him, their left back gets in our half once or twice at most 2nd half after playing like a winger first half, and again their keeper does well to keep them infront. Game over, another defeat, i know we perhaps created enough chances to earn a point BUT Darlo looked slightly better overall, and the plot thickens. I think we did well to create chances against a team that will probably do alright this season, but our budget can't be too far off one of the better budgets in league, yet it seems to have been spent suspectly. Hearn needs a goal and is working hard, but Spencer looks unable to move and Elding (whos on a lot of money so i'm told) looks like Conlon part deux. These guys have been tasked to replace Connell and his goals but we don't look like scoring at all, all 3 of those will struggle to score 29 goals put together, but it is early doors. So which midfielders will get us goals? Serge and Coulson maybe, but Rob Eagle got a fair few from midfield last season and he's not even on the bench! If a goal-scoring midfielder is deemed unworthy of a place in the squad then again the signs are ominous for Shorty & Shouty's decision making. Then come the antics from Shouty at full time. Whilst i understand it's only natural to defend yourself when verbally attacked, those 'moronic fans' rightly or wrongly pay for his wages and are entitled to opinion. If he cannot act professionally at a professional (questionable) club then he should sod off back to non-league where his bullying, arrogant and immature behaviour belong. All u fans saying well done Scotty seriously need to question what type of manager u applaud at YOUR club, the man has no class and i know previous managers would have respected the fans opinions and responded appropriately.

Unfortunately, i think the onfield antics are masking the over-riding truth of the demise of our much-loved Mighty Mariners. The club is rotten to the core, stinks of unprofessionalism, has no community ethos and is becoming every bit an amateur club more and more by the day. The man who calls the shots from the top must surely be taking stock of what's going on and is no doubt building his latest case for defence. I have seen Mike Parker at the 2 recent home games and one can only hope he can see the bigger picture and is building his latest case to put on us on the right track. Forever UTM

Couldn't be bothered to read after "and it took an extremely controversial goal..." blah blah. You complain about far fetched views then give your own.
Do you think Darlo fans are tearing their forum apart with "We only had 3 shots on goal!! one of them went in via a lucky deflection, and they hit the post and only our keeper kept us in it !!!!"

No. Just another excuse to use the words Shorty and Shouty.

I also thought we played well and it was the first game under shorty and shouty were  the booing was not ringing round after a loss. I did feel however that tactically they let the players down. I feel that since they came in their enthusiasm to impose themselves on the job and the club by having a clean sweep of last years promising team and pissing our biggest assett off towards the end of last season has set us back probably a season's development as i imagine we wont mount a promotion challenge this season.

The real crime last season was sacking woods when we did and not realising that 6 points off the play offs in march having not lost at home since September is not a bad place to be in your first season in the conference. Woods team was not perfect but it was a better team than we have now imo and had he been allowed to make a few changes in pre season we instead of another wholesale change we may have been very strong. If anyone of our fans is a moron its our clueless chairman and his ridiculously itchy trigger finger.

the real crime was giving woods the job

And prior to that we got copulated over 5-0 by part-timers, 1 point at Newport, and outmuscled and comfortably beaten by Fleetwood at home. Are you saying fans who have been to these matches have no right to be mad? Especially when one of the managers comes out and hurls abuse at a supporter telling him to 'intercourse off' and 'don't come'.

Agree with all of the above.  Whilst I agree that anyone that boo'd the players was (IMO) out of order (the players worked and played well), it is NOT Scotts place to tell them and end up using the sort of language anyone else would have been arrested for. This club is becoming more and more amateur in all aspects, from the ground to the club shop and everything inbetween.    I fear that Scott may well get his wish and crowds of 2000 or even below may become the norm.  All the "Who else but John Fenty" brigade had probably never even heard of Mike Parker two years ago.I for one would love to see Mike Parker in charge but feel that Fenty will not give up easily.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

No, I'm saying that we put in a not great but workmanlike display against Cambridge and got 3 points. But we didn't deserve the 3 pts apparently, as we were 'lucky'. We put in a much better, but still tactically lacking display against Darlo, had no luck whatsoever and lost. Apparently that was what we deserved too. The manager didn't bound over to some poor hapless fan having a grumble, he went over to engage some fans who wanted a proper talk with him. The two gobshites jumped in and got both barrels from Scott, and though wrong I'm totally understanding of that.
