Hi
Those planning to make the trip might want to  consider making a weekend of it. It's still summer, and although our football ain't great we're in a beautiful part of the country, at the heart of the Cotswolds. Our Supporters Trust website has a tourist info page with local attractions and a list of hotels and B&Bs (and even campsites for the adventurous)

http://www.fgrtrust.com/#/visit-nailsworth/4530810694

On match day visiting fans are welcome in the club bar, the Green Man. Large, with several TVs, real ale, weird locals and a hot pre-match meal available .

Under 16s get in for £3 (to the ground, not the pub)

I'll be back later with other local pub info, and any other stuff you want to know. Good luck this weekend

Gonna miss the home made cottage pies in The Green Man this season. What's the alternative now Sledge, Tofu Burgers.

What's all this about FGR putting in a huge bid for Robbie Wilmott (Luton's best player)?

Might be just trying to put them off going for Styche (two or three bids from them rejected) but it's just been announced Styche has signed a new 3 year deal

Close. At the last game it was Quorn curry, whatever that is. Or fish and chips (sustainable hake!) for a tenner

A TENNER!! Maybe if it was haddock.

Will I be able to smuggle a couple of burgers in do you reckon or do the stewards have sniffer dogs now.

Hopefully the coach driver won't get lost on the way home this time Terry. I thought at one point we were going up Mount Snowden.

The police were to blame for that. Sent him out a different way to avoid the roadworks where the roundabout was being replaced

It's near Nailsworth Si, not too far from Bath. It's actually just off the A46, so just down the road really. I'll show you the way mate.

Totally agree, the attitude of  MOST BSP clubs and supporters is excellent, away
supporters welcome in a sort of Rugy club  style and FL clubs should take note,
the football in this league may be a bit unsavoury at times, but  the camaradery
between supporters is far, far superior than  the Vitriol most FL Clubs supporters
hurl at each other.
I think its a breath of fresh air to be honest.

I do love the idea of Grimsby fans travelling to The Cotswolds to pay £10 for fish and chips!

46 or 93, Each one runs every hour but they are half an hour apart so there should be one every 30 mins. Last stop (Forest Green) is outside the school about 200 yds from the ground.

Personally I'm going to run from the station to the ground. It's one long road by the looks of it, just under 5 miles. Should take me about 45 mins (that's the first half!). Then run back again (the second half). The football will be the half time entertainment.

You run at 6 miles an hour?  Only got two legs or something?

As Sledge says, the No.46 drops you right near the ground. I caught the No.46 last season from Cheltenham as I spent a few days down there. Don't get too worried though as after going up a rather steep hill it then goes all the way round a housing estate before it gets to the ground. You'll see the ground as you come up to a mini roundabout and the bus stop is just a few hundred yards further back along the road.

I hope you're joking Rob. The hill up to their ground is a hell of a drag. Quite steep and seems to go on for ever.

The road from Stroud to Nailsworth (about 4 miles) is fairly flat, through a valley bottom, but the hill from Nailsworth to FG is reasonably steep. About 20-25 mins to walk. Those drinking in the Village or Britannia beforehand should allow for that if bladders are weak.

The only place I can find is the Green Man itself, at the club, which is also your nearest pub from Thistledown. Just contacted them and they are definitely showing it.

You like compost toilets then?

My daughter used to live at Thistledown in a yurt, the compost toilets are pure luxury apparently. Others she used elsewhere are a hole in the ground surrounded by a curtain, these are indoor, proper pans in cubicles, but instead of flushing you put a shovelful of sawdust down afterwards.

Sorry, should be in another forum possibly,( though 'going down the pan.....'  )

Plenty of parking at the ground but it's £3. Parking on streets available but you have to get there early as most now have matchday restrictions.

I have just read on the FGR forum "I would be unhappy with a point"
Really, no offense FGR, but that is demoralising. Do they know who we are???? (tongue in cheek here)
But let them assume we are playing badly anyway, that suits me fine.

The welcoming fans at BSBP away grounds are indeed a breath of fresh air but personally, I would rather be chucked off the bridge at Forest (the real one) again or smashed over the back with a pool cue in the Fiveways at Hull one more time if that's what it takes to get us back where we belong.
Sorry about the nostalgia Rob but that's the way uh huh, uh huh I like it . . .

Most antibiotics you can have alcohol (in moderation of course) but I'm currently on 2 different, strong ones and currently taking a very high dosage and have been told to avoid ALL alcohol whilst on them.

Grimrob. Loved the Rocky style sweatband and back pack, for a moment I thought it was Sylvester Stallone running past the the 46 bus. You looked in severe pain to be honest  , it only cost £3.20 return from centre of Stroud, money well spent

The journey back was definitely harder than coming (but I shaved off a whole K thanks to a friendly policeman who even showed me a map of a huge shortcut). Never "severe" pain though, I can assure you whatever I looked like. It meant at least I didn't have to run today (although I might go out on my bike in a bit) like I normally do on Sundays, which was part of the idea. £3.20 sounds cheap but I bet I probably beat the bus including time finding and hanging about at stops (catching buses in strange towns is not my idea of fun).
