I thought yesterday we looked far more comfortable playing 4-3-3 and going on what Paul Hurst said this week, it seems to be the managers preferred formation

Based on yesterdays game and the little I've seen so far (and based on Connells exit and an injury free squad) I think we will be looking similar too

Arthur/Mckeowen (Depending on who comes pre season the best)
Silk                             Pearson            Kempson                    Ridley

       Disley                             Church                   Artus

       Coulson                           Hearn                   New Striker/Spencer

So Aaron would pick McKeown despite posting that he looked awful in a warm up

All places still up for grabs yet. Will see how pre season develops during games and transfers before any sensible suggestions can be made

Change Macca for Arther then i would agree, he didn't look committed in the warm up.

looks ok to me. Artus is more of a left sider I think. goalie job is up for grabs. It will be down to whoever impresses in training and pre-season games. May the best man win.

Fail to see how Arthur looked awful in the game. He possibly could've done better for the second goal but other than that, he didn't do much wrong. Made a great save at the end.

Based on yesterday, I'll go for:

                    Arthur

Silk     Kempson   Pearson      Ridley

    Disley      Church      Artus

     Coulson    Spencer       Hearn

Agreed about Arthur, but at the same time how can you put Kempson and Pearson in front of Garner? Garner played for the full 90 mins and hardly did anything wrong, was better than Pearson, although Pearson looks a handful at set pieces, and you've not seen Kempson yesterday.

Having Pearson and Kempson in the same side will gift the opposition too much possession. The CB paring needs to have a bit of balance to it, Garner and another from Pearson, Kempson & I'Anson does that.

I am very surprised that Makofo doesn't feature more in these lineups. I thought he looked strong on the ball yesterday and I would
rather have him on the left or up front. I'd give him the chance. UTMM

Think i'd rather see him come off the bench and used as an impact player with his pace.

i'd have Duffy in based on yesterdays performance.... he won everything, never stopped running and showed some neat touches/control.

I think that we should play Makofo more if we work more on his ball skills. He seemed a bit too clumsy yesterday and some of his touches just took the ball away from him. Other than that he showed a good bit of pace and the ability to be a decent player in our side. UTM

I personally thought Duffy was slow off the mark and lacked anticipation when the ball was played forward into space on the ground. None of our bigger players or Mulready looked a goal threat whatsoever!!

I thought Duffy looked sharp and was chasing down there back four which was rare to see from him, also his first touch was excellent, hope he keeps it up  because he could be very useful for us this season, never thought i would say that tbh.

Think it just goes to show what effect managers and coaching can have on players.
It's all well and good writing off players, but even older ones can improve when shown the right direction.
I just hope it's not a short term flash in the pan and with Scott and Hurst I don't think it will be.
Unless we start getting stuffed every week because it eventually affects players motivation levels.
