Lethal Vodka

The Daily hate mail is having a field day, if the local yokels in Boston knew that illicit vodka was being manufactured and were indeed purchasing this poteen moonshine for personal comsumption (no tax, VAT etc) why are the migrants getting the blame? I can just see the headline 'Baltic migrants undercut Russians and force chavs to drink illegal booze', It's incredidible, that paper can't decide if Brits are too lazy to work and migrants are doing jobs they refuse to do, if Brits are being forced onto the dole by migrants undercutting them, if Brits are benefit scroungers, if migrants are only here for the benefits, if Brits are spending too much time studying for useless degrees which lead to either non jobs on 100K a year or there are no jobs apart from fruit picking, if Brits are doing 'non jobs' on 100k a year after spending too long obtaining a useless degree but there are no non jobs or even jobs anyway, if Brits aren't working because they never went to school or if it's all down to a few migrants getting white girls into prostitution by plying them with cheap alcohol or something. What would the Daily hate Mail write about if it wasn't for migrants, the underclass and facebook?

This sort of excrement has been going on for years, doesn't matter who is doing it, it is wrong. Of course the daily racist has run a story on it, but again we have come to expect from them and we know it'll be bollox so just ignore it.

Except for the block of prose tempering my enjoyment slightly - excellent, love this post.

aldi_01 - it isn't a case of 'just ignore it'. A decent swathe of the population sees the Daily Mail for what it is and treats its vitriol with the appropriate disdain. An equally significant swathe of our land read it as a gospel on the island we share.

While other tabloids can be said to have a lesser influence due to the economic and social power (or lack thereof) of its readership - the Daily Mail and the views it peddles, unfortunately has a fairly weighty influence on the society we live in.

A significant proportion of those who read the Mail are, especially at local level, those in positions of influence within their community. They swallow and regurgitate (sp*) to their underlings - be they employees or suchlike and without any innate inclination or ability to question - you now have a group of people walking to the Daily Mail's beat. Ad infinitum - it has an appallingly large readership.
