Yes mate I have.  Passed with one mark short of a distinction (coz I'm a boring c@nt).

I did mine from scratch on a three week intensive course and my brain was proper fried.  If the format is the same as mine you have 3 papers ?

Doubt I could give you any better advice than your tutors but PM me if you think I could help.

Good Luck

Civvy

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Alright you two, this begs the obvious question from someone of a certain age, what the hell is Nebosh and to what purpose does it serve. Bare in mind that I shall ridicule you at the earliest opportunity if it is some sort of spurious unnescessary government inspired nonsensical qualification to allow you to do a job thats been done for years without the need for examination etc.

NEBOSH is an award for Health and Safety stuff, My Masters wife has the qualification for when she was involved in factories, workshops and quarries as an 'Occupational Health Nurse'.

Woof, Woof!

Ah,one of the reasons the country takes five times aslong to get jobs done. Spend time and money writing assessments on things that may go wrong and how you are going to avoid dropping a hammer on your toe or breaking a fingernail. Then put into practice all the stupid precautions some jobsworth has dreamt up while sitting in an office having never done a proper job in their lives.Treble the cost of a job by intiating all the pointless protection you can possibly dream up.Shut down everything within five miles of the project in case the lawyers decide that your work has caused a white van to run over a cat whilst watching you work.

Great stuff.

And yes I do see the point of alot of the stuff but some of it is so ott it's unreal. INHO every second Hse officer should tortured to within an inch of death having shot the first one.

Without health and safety precautions anything could happen - just follow this link if you don't believe me:

Bear with it as it's worth it once it gets going.

Icey i actually agree with everything you have wrote there, Being from a mechanical background all the red tape is very frustrating, the reason for me doing this is for career progression. I find that most things are common sense, but at least i have the experience in the field and not just in the classroom.

those dreaded two words in any work place...health and safety, technically 3 i know, lol.

i was given what could only be described as the second coming of war and peace at my new job in a secure unit for children yesterday, and that was only for the education block, ive yet to read the whole unit booklet, apparently they are saving that for me, lol.

when me dad did his NEBOSH he said it fried his brain big time

As i am gamefully employed in the field i feel i have to respond there old chap. Total b@ll@cks.
Health and Safety saves time and money and most importantly (to the workers anyway) lives. A decent health and safety rep/consultant will work with you and resolve issues sensibly taking into account the views and experience of the workers to achieve a mutually agreeable way of...and lets get this bit clear...complying with the law.
I have no doubt that people have had bad experiences of health and safety staff who have implemented over the top precautions for events that have less chance of occurring than winning the lottery jackpot two weeks on the bounce but thats much the same with any walk of life, there are good and bad.
The aim of every health and safety rep should be just one thing, to make sure you go home in the same condition that you arrived, why workers oppose someone who is there to protect them physically as well as lawfully is beyond me.

The cemetary is full of workers who thought health and safety was for wimps.

Ok, another point or two (and although I hold NEBOSH I do not work in a H&S role.

Who decides the kids at school have to wear protective glasses to play conkers ?

Clue: Not the health and safety advisor.  Nope, It's the Headmaster after taking advice from the H&S advisor.

The Head asks the H&S what are the risks involved in a game of conkers.

H&S do a risk assessment and report findings to Head.

Head then makes the decision - NOT THE H&S advisor.

Why does the Head feel the need to make the pupils wear glasses.

BECAUSE OF THE GREEDY COMPENSATION (MUST BE SOMEONE'S FAULT) CULTURE.

Why do you think firms pay a lot of money to H&S workers to cover themselves.  Because it's cheaper than Dozy Mrs Biddlecome getting thousands for slipping on the floor that was blatently wet and the daft cow didn't look where she was going.  The greedy b@stards that claim for everything have created the monster that is now H & S.  Without them, common sense would prevail.

Off to bed now after a hard night shift.

Stay safe out there folks.  It's Icey (as in frozen H2O, not the poster on this site).  Mind how you go now.
