I know we are all still fighting our way through are own campaigns but the next FM10 will be out soon and I've found it at Zavvi for £17.95 if anyone is considering buying it.

If you can get it for £18 thats a right bargain. I'm still hooked on FM09 though. Just finished 2039/40 season, I beat Town 6-0 at Blundell Park on the penultimate day of the season to a) win the title for my Newcastle team and b) relegate Town from the Premiership (they've been there for 15 seasons since I got them promoted back in the early 2020's.)

Wow. Thats a hell of a lot of seasons gones by.

Not sure I should buy it or not. I've had previous versions 09 and 08 and only seem to do about 2-3 seasons and the novelty wears of. What features has this years got?

I have recently just bought Championship Manager 2010 for a whopping £2.51 as per a promotional off by them.

Bargain.

However, i won't lie to you. Football Manager beats it hands down.

Before it was released on the 11th, you could go to the web site and pre-order a downloadable copy for 2.51, a bit like radiohead did with a recent album,
then you got an email giving the link to download a copy of the game

Premier Manager for the Sega Mega Drive was the first manager game i played. Loved it at the time.

I seem to remember you could only start with a (then) division 3 team, (now league 2).

Bloody loved that game was so easy to get Town in the Premier League on it too, McManaman, Gazza and Anderton all playing for mine at one point.

To be fair, no management game is that realistic. I'm the manager of Gainsborough and its 2017 on my game and my strike force is Billy Sharp and Yakubu .

I dont think ill be getting the next FM 2010, Ive bought the series since 2006, and bar a few major improvements and new features the game has become a bit stale, but Im more the fantasy man where managers get to manage the stadium facilities and such, which is why I prefered Premier Manager as it gave you all control, less realistic but more fun.

I'm excited about the new game, the revised tactics (similar to that used in FM Live) will vastly improve the game imo. It's still by far and away the best footie management sim out there and I don't think I've ever known a game that can keep me so engaged for so long (currently in 2040/41 season, addictedness rating is "Congratulations from everyone at Sports Interactive. We never thought you'd make it this far".

Just downloaded the demo of it this morning, and I'm not really that excited about it to be honest... Just for a laugh I might apply for the GTFC job and see whether I can get an interview based on previous experience on Football Manager, in getting Grimsby to the Champions League final.

This is the guy that started it all; Kevin Toms - he wrote the original Football Manager game in 1982 and set things on their way. I wasted many a day back then playing this.

You can even play the original 1982 version of the game in your browser:

Somehow managed to finish 4th in my first season with town playing hoofball. Conlon as the target man and Akpro playing off him was stupidly effective. Conlon finished League Two top scorer with 28 goals and Akpro finished with 18 goals and 11 assists. History then decided to repeat itself and I lost in the play-offs to Cheltenham

Early in my second season and top of league one. Very little money. Just rejected 650k, all up front from Notts County as John wound only give me 10 percent of the cash to spend. Too easy in my opinion.

Willy Topp and Vincent Pericard hit 35 each in my first season. Finished fourth, but beat Rochdale in the play off final.

Currently top of League One, and unbeaten, after 11 games.

First think I did is rid myself of Danny Boshell and Jamie Clarke. I replaced them with proper footballers. That would be a good start for any real life GTFC manager.

I struggled on fm09 ... People i know started at teams like Man UTD offered town stupid money for excrement players then moved to town and had £5m in the bank. To me thats boring, i just played it straight off with no extra cash or f-ck all. Will do the same with this 1 when i download it

When you install the game, disconnect your internet and you won't have to enter a key. This works on whatever "version" of the game you have.

You will need the DVD inserted to start the game unless you get a crack from gamecopyworld but I would not condone that sort of thing. That or you could mount the image via Daemon tools or similar. (hyperthetically of course).

If anyone else here is playing Football Manager 2010, don't sign robert enke. He never moves off the line and his one-on-ones are awful.

Started a new game as Grimsby on it - have to say I really don't like the new layout but hopefully I'll get used to it after a few hours gaming.

Got shut of Hegarty (Northampton on a free) and I'm trying to offload Northy and Heywood. Nobody is biting though.

Brought in Lewis Young and Aleksandar Prijovic on loan (Prijovic at your recommendation, Chris!), Matt Watson from Carolina Railhawks (to replace Boshell as tough centre mid) and Sean Doherty on a free (tricky left winger).

Hoping to sign Willy Topp as well and then I'll be sorted for the season. Expectations are low so the only way is up!

I started a game with Grimsby, I'm about 11th mid-november but ridiculously inconsistent

Signed:
Riccy Scimeca (cardiff)
Maxime Chanot (free)
Eric Lichaj (Villa loan)
Ibrahima Thiam (quality player- free)
Jeremy Helan (man city loan)
Ibrahim Sissoko (free)
Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz (blackburn loan, my top scorer with 11 goals)
Tristan Plummer (bristol city- loan)
Donal McDermott (man city loan)

Only got rid of Stockdale I think, nobody else will sign my crap like Hegarty, Heywood, Clarke, Boshell, Jarman, Forbes etc. I'll make a concerted effort to get them out in Jan

I have signed Christian Gyan, Ibrahim Sissoko for my centre mid, Willy Topp upfront and then in Januray signed Gareth Ainsworth to play right wing. Only got rid of Heywood and Proudlock.

Making a small profit of about 50k a month atm.

I am 2nd in the league, 2 points behing Notts County with 16 games to play. 8 points clear of Bury in 3rd though.

Promoted in my first season in the play offs after a thriller against rotherham. Went 3-2 down with 2 minutes of extra time left but turned it around to win 4-3 with the winner coming from Ryan Bennett.

Fenty then sold Bennett for £600k in the summer. Currently 7th in League One after about 10 games.

Sold Clarke, North, Boshell Jarman & Heywood early on and only have Stockdale and Widdowson as regular starters from current squad although Sweeney is on the bench as is Akpro

I downloaded the demo and was doing pretty well up until the demo ran out.

Can anybody tell me if I can continue the saved game on the demo when I have installed the actual game I've just bought.

BTW got it for £17 on play.com. Think it is a promotion only for today.

I dont know about continuing the save game or not but I think Play.com has been selling the game at 17.50 from the start.

May be wrong.
