The most under-rated drinking city in the UK?
I was on a mega bender and visited 11 different bars, never having the same beer in any of them. Great selection and choice in bars and beers, no trouble and the train was on time to take me home.

I've never explored Brum's pubs and bars. The most I've seen of Birmingham on a night out was Broad Street on January evening a few years back. There were bouncers on the door of the kebab house.
Manchester and Liverpool are always good places to go out on a crawl. Loads of good places with good beer, especially in Mcr.

Broad Street is the youngsters drinking area, that and the canal basin around Gas Street, not a Real Ale sort of place. Only done Manchester once and that was a New Years Eve before we played at Rochdale for half a game before it was cancelled, can't remember much about manchester or the match! My daughter went to Uni in Liverpool, so I know it very well and yes there are some cracking pubs selling some good Real Ales. BH.

'The Old Contemptibles' by Snow Street station (in Birmingham) is good, their sasauges are to die for and the choice of Real Ales is always interesting and changes all the time.

I hAve only been to Birmingham once and it was a nightmare. It was fro the footie right enough. (B City V Celtic about 1999). A great scrap. A group of they right wing types thought it wopuld be a good idea to attack the visiting Celtic fans. It was good to see the troops in the hoops give them a good doing rioght enough. Would probably like to visit the city properly. Regards Mr Happy

I've only been to Brum in daylight hours on business and never had the good fortune to stay over.
Apparently the area at the top end of Broad Street, near Paradise Circus, is being redeveloped into a new leisure and entertainment complex. Sadly this involves the demolition of the former ATV television studios - to those of a certain generation this was the home of Tiswas and Crossroads.
It'll be strange having a pint in the same spot where the Phantom Flan-Flinger ruled or where Sandy Mortimer ran over Shugie McFee's foot with his wheelchair.

Yeh, you may even bump into Bennie. The man who gave the name to the Falkland Islanders. Although they are now know as "stills"

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |
