When Biccy's pointed out I was nearly up to 2000 posts I thought I had better save the 2000th for something special.  Was going to do a tongue in cheek review of the fishy or something.

However, I have today received my son Daniel's school report and I am very very impressed.  He is 9 years old and goes to Signhills.  Although his report is very good all round, the most pleasing bit is that he is polite and cheerful. Sorry to bore the pants off the rest of you, but to me it is well worth the 2000th post.  When I show him this post I know it is going to cost me as I promised him a treat that compares to his report.

On the subject of school reports though it has amazed me at how much they have changed over the years.  Mine was just a form with the various subjects listed and the grade next to it, with a two or three line comment at the end.

Eg:

Maths                   B
English language    A-

A generally pleasant pupil, Civvy can do well when he tries but tends to be the class clown and can be disruptive at times.
Needs to concentrate more.

Nowadays though the parents get an in depth report of each subject, and the pupil.  Teachers nowadays seem to know a lot more about the children in their care than ever happened at my old school. I guess a teachers lot is not as cushy as it used to be.

Well now I have passed the 2000 mark I can now go back to cluttering up the main board with my inane drivel.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Civvy you'll have to start saving now for his uni fees or he'll end up £100,000 in debt by the time he graduates.

Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play.
It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfullness,
disregard of all rules and a sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence;
In other words it is war without the shooting.

He'll do a bloody paper round and wash cars like his dad did.

I wont be sending him anywhere.  But if he should choose the Armed Forces it will be as an officer (should he be educationally qualified, which at the moment looks very likely).

One thing for sure. He will not under achieve at School like his old man did.  Having a Dad that knew all the tricks for not doing homework and twagging it etc etc will be a help to him in the end.

At the moment he wants to go into the world of making promotional video's, possibly in the pop world.  He is talented as a musician and loves media studies.  This has purely come from him.  What happened to boys wanting to be a boxer or a train driver etc and girls wanting to be nurses ?  I feel old

My report in the last year at school said,

If Peter showed half of much interest in the classroom as he does on the sports field,

He would be top of the class,

That was before all pupils took exams before they left school.

I basically put that in a lads report this year. I have never seen such sportsmanship/ dedication by a lad on the football field. Get him into a classroom, rubbers fly, chair gets rockeed on and at times refuses to work.

I'm glad that you have commented on the quality of the report. We always say 2 hours to write 5 minutes to read and thats for those that bother to read them.

My reports this year were areound the 1500 word mark. I have 30 kids in the class. I wrote less in my dissertation!

Signhills is a good school, the GF's neice goes there and so did the GF. It's an outstanding school in Ofsted's eyes and that is no easy task.
