As today was David Artell's 12th league game (mis-)managing GTFC I thought i'd see where he ranks against the previous 23 permanent managers of GTFC. He's in at 20 in the table and 3 of the 4 managers below him ended up relegated at the end of the season during which they were appointed as was one of the 2 managers immediately above him in the table...

Interestingly only 4 managers achieved more goals scored than DA has. But unsurprisingly no one comes even close to having conceded as many goals as his side have.

Looking at that table Brian Laws is free.

Does that take into account when it was 2 points for a win?

Very GTFC that not a single one has had a start you'd deem great.

Have we ever conceded more than 21 goals in 6 matches (is it 21 in 6 - I’m too traumatised to check?)?

There’s a clean sheet in that run too!

Edit: I’ve checked the 6 matches around the thrashings by Hartlepoolx2, Sheff Wed, the 6-5 Burnley win etc and we don’t even come close to this level of defensive shïtdom

In no defence of Artell who I think has to go, that table doesn’t really mean a lot . Dave Booth one place below him, managed probably the best Town team I’ve ever seen . I think they finished 5th on goal difference in what would now be the championship.

All that demonstrates to me is that you can't judge a manager after 12 games.

Johnny Newman is 2nd to bottom in the table.  My memory (wrong or distorted) is that he went on to be a good manager for us.
