As I live abroad, I obviously can't go. This is your chance people. There will be an attempt to fill the place with sycophants. Don't let them paper over the cracks. Make sure you all go if you can make it. Do not let him use the words "keyboard warriors." Prove him wrong.

If anyone wants to ask any of these questions for me in my absence.. thanks in advance

Benign and football fortune are words that do not sufficiently define the impact of your director's loan on the club and for potential investors. Could you be more definitive in what is meant? Wouldn't it be more honourable to convert them into shares like every other investor?

It is written in the club accounts that you are in effect in control of the club. After fifteen years of poor performances on the pitch, three relegations, six years of non-league, not a single season above tier four that didn't end in relegation, non delivery of a new stadium and lack of ability to attract new investment, wouldn't you have got the sack by now if it was an accountable paid position and how can you think that you are the best person to run the football club with this record?

Who is in charge of your PR and marketing? Who has the final say on output and why are they still in their job?

Bragate, why no comment?

Checkatrade, do you really think that fans were bullied into not going to matches? If so, what proof have you got as bullying is a strong word to use on your fanbase?

Checkatrade, why not vote against the competition and still take the money on offer? Surely that would be even better financially for the club as it would have brought you closer to the fans and earned their respect.

Your brother has stated that you have looked all around the world for investment. What marketing methods have you used and is that offer open to anyone even if it meant losing your controlling interest or is it just investment for the new stadium project?

New stadium, how and when?

What is the playing side philosophy of the club?

Most clubs market their season tickets before the end of the season, why do we leave our marketing to the last minute and why are there no new ideas of how to incentivise them after 15 years in charge?

How long do you want to remain in your position and what is your price to leave?

Shouldn't there be a minimum catering standard for the fans? Was the standard checked before handing out the contract and should it be better than it is?

Couldn't you publicly put your controlling interest up for sale as a package and see what happens?

With reference to Big Dogs "suggested" questions I am sure the person concerned will have a meeting with "friends" to try to come up with some answers and then contract influenza and have to cancel meeting

You could spin this the other way by saying JF took over a club 3 mil in debt, with a Massive tax dept and possible winding up order, A massive overdraft and a previous Charmin /Director asking for his Directors loans back of circa 800k now whilst he has been Chairman / None Chairman he has seen 1 relegation and 1 Promotion 4 times to Wembley and 1 trip to Cardiff, No overdraft or Tax bill outstanding and the club dept is reduced to 2mil and self sufficient..

and I believe for the record town has been relegated twice out the football league previously in the 1960 and was re elected both times back, this period the gates also where around 2k per game .

Spin is the word. And not even clever spin.

The reduction in debt by £1m, exactly the amount given to the club by MP and the Trust

Plus £1m Bogle money gone whose transfer fee was raised by OP

3 relegations not one, you're using a technicality

Promotion - From non fooking league
Wembley appearances - Non fooking league competitions
Cardiff - We lost

Are you seriously defending the last fifteen years?

Facts are Facts and can be spun both ways to suite,
You being a very angry glass half empty poster only see the negatives and irrespective of what league we where in or if we lost or won we still went to these places.
The club is in a far better place than Halifax, Chester or Darlington for example, all of which we have played in the last decade.
Did I enjoy none league No, Do I think we can do better on the pitch YES am I happy with the performances this season NO but I am just trying to put things in perspective,

Anyone who is happy with the performances this season must also spend their time comparing beige colour charts to decide which tone to decorate their house with, writing to the Grimsby Telegraph letters page and trainspotting.

How are these facts for you, the club paid back the tax debt because if the tax man put us in Admin JF would lose the money he had put in so far, so to manage the repayments was in his financial interest. Yes he paid Ramsden off and he took that back in pension payments over 4 years whilst we were paying the taxman back, how much was those repayments and how did those repayments effect the books and playing budget.

The biggest fact of them all, the hiring and firing was done by Fenty and the board so the failures are his to absorb but, there could have been a bit of saving grace had he bought shares but no saddle the club with benign debt that hangs over the club like the sword of Damocles and turns away potential investors.

MP was promised certain things when he joined the board, a short time later he left the board stating that certain promises weren't kept, who made those promises and what were they.

Squabbling with Mighty Mariner over £18 and all the media guffs, falling out with fans and anybody that challenges him. Snapping a kids flag and making ludicrous statements about female fans and flares, and then not defending our fans when they have been abused.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

What a bizarre comparison. Too bloody right we should be in a better position than those three clubs as we have been throughout pretty much our entire existence. The only reason we played them in the last decade is because we've been at our lowest ebb. What about clubs like Burton, Scunthorpe or Shrewsbury who we have traditionally fared much better than and now we can't get anywhere near them on or off the pitch?

There will always be examples such as those you quote but there are far more that are in a better position than us who used to be our level and lower. There are names in the top division (Bournemouth), The Championship (Barnsley, Hull) but more pertinently, there are local clubs that are now in a far better place than us (Donny, Scunny and even Lincoln) and that's what hurts. I don't see that as being glass half empty - I see that as reality.

Like this question above all others, sums it all up for me,  please can someone make sure it is asked WORD FOR WORD

Not that keen on the new stadium topic though, its been done to death. It will allow Fenty to slide out from under the more crunchy stuff by bullshitting at length using totally meaningless phrases (enablement etc) ad infinitum on the stadium issue and confusing / deceiving everyfucker. Also of course the way he is running the club we won't need a new ground anyway!

Difficult to comprehend given that Hereford are playing four levels below Town in the Pyramid set up, but they are having a great time of it at the moment.

Reborn as a Phoenix club in 2015-16 they have won both league titles at first time of asking and are well placed in the Evostik South Premier Division for a third successive promotion. They are a community based, fans owned club, and their average attendance this season is 2,350 - but that's home and away. Some of the clubs they play away report record attedances when Hereford come to town with a regular away following of four figures. Their highest home gate so far this season is 4,700 against Telford two weeks ago.

Yes, they've a long way to go but I reckon they'll be back in the Football League within five years. It's what happens when a club's fans buy into becoming such a club.

People who have a true interest in the club should go. I am on a holiday which was booked in march so won't be there.
There should be sensible constructive questions. They might get sensible constructive answers.
If it turns out to be a slanging match it will be a massive opportunity missed by all concerned
The media must be controlled and not be allowed to sensationalise situations

The supporters trust should give positive leadership on consolidating sensible questions which hopefully the club directorate will respond in an open manner

Let's hope that all of this is on the back of an entertaining draw at home tomorrow and a vital away win on Saturday

Important we don't let Fenty use his political experience to distract those present from the real issues that currently affect OUR club. Watch out for the long, rambling answers to insignificant, planted questions relating to "Dribble". Time to give the board a drilling about THEIR performance in running GTFC.

I believe for the record town has been relegated twice out the football league previously in the 1960 and was re elected both times back, this period the gates also where around 2k per game .

That's not correct. Town were only re-elected once the 1968-1969 season when they finished second bottom

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968%E2%80%9369_Football_League#Fourth_Division

All the bottom four that year have tasted non-league in the modern era of 2 up 2 down.

Re-election was, of course, the norm. Hartlepool were re-elected by their fellow clubs a record 11 times. So their demise last year was long overdue. Only 5 out of 32 clubs who sought re-election were ever relegated and they were normally serial offenders: Gateshead (1960), Bradford Park Avenue (1970), Barrow (1972), Workington (1977) and Southport (1978 ).

How long do you want to remain in your position and what is your price to leave?

Shouldn't there be a minimum catering standard for the fans? Was the standard checked before handing out the contract and should it be better than it is?

Couldn't you publicly put your controlling interest up for sale as a package and see what happens?

People who have a true interest in the club should go. I amWAS GOING on a holiday which was booked in march AND NOW CANCELLED so won'tWILL be there.

Let's hope that all of this is on the back of an entertaining draw WIN at home tomorrow and a vital away win on Saturday

If that doesn't unwittingly encapsulate the stifling lack of ambition at the club then I don't know what does.

if anyone is going please dont ask old questions and waste everyones time.....trust shares... Mike Parker ...etc .... and keep questions factual...we know someone likes to stick to facts.
Ie if anyone is challenging/questioning what is happening with the new ground then go back and check what has been said/promised timescale wise so you have direct challenges to make and avoid waffly politician style empty responses.

It's one of his brothers, Mark I think, the one who owns Positive Activities, used to be called Get Hooked on Positive Activities, I hear they have plans in for a bigger site. I wonder if it's destined for Peaks Parkway, as GTFC is listed as a partner.

Sonik I believe is Steve, who seems to be the more reasonable of the Fenty clan.

I was going to attend and give the board a roasting, but after a bit of contemplation I have decided not to.  All of these questions should have been answered at the time, the fans stood up for at the time, not a few weeks later when the idiot in charge is feeling a bit of heat. I feel this forum will help legitimise the clubs actions rather than hold them to account. I am boycotting the club completely instead until fenty goes.

I agree with realist all the questions should have been answered ages ago,

If they have not addressed them by now they wont at the forum,

BUT

If they do will somebody should ask why has it taken the fishy to go into meltdown for them to come forward with the answers.

You are right, as well as the 1968/1969 season in Division 4 there was the 1954/55 season in Division 3 North, a fact which had escaped me!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954%E2%80%9355_Football_League#Third_Division_North

the good news is we were Champions the next season, having kept the same manager (there was no social media in those days to demand his sacking!)

That was when my dad first took me to watch the mariners play,

We had just moved back from living in Middlesbrough for 2 years and Town were near the bottom of the league,

Then Allenby Chilton came from Man Utd as player manager and we got promoted in my full season as a supporter.

I thought it would always be like that.

Unreasonable in what way?  I think I'm balanced in my views for all things GTFC. For all the negativity and sometimes down right hurtful comments aimed at mainly John and our family I think are unfair. Yes I'll stick up for what I believe are wrongs. Wouldn't you? Believe me we are all saddened with the current plight on the pitch but we must come together to turn things around.

It was a play on words, you said I was wrong on two accounts, one being your name obviously so as you didn't say what the other account was I saw it as an opportunity just to tease you a little, no malice intended. Like I have said previously I have found you quite reasonable, that's from observations on here and speaking to you a couple of times when we have been travelling away, one time you dispensed several tinnies from the boot of your car, If I remember rightly your dark blue BMW as you may have a new motor now.

Saddened isn't a word I would use, the fear of dropping into the abyss again could be a reality with Captain John seemingly hapless and clueless as to what is wrong and how to fix it, and with his previous form I have lost all confidence that he can do something proactive because he has always been reactive. He lacks that spark to enthuse and breed confidence, and with his mix of, lack of and unwarranted comments has destroyed the massive goodwill this club had prior to the MB sacking. The atmosphere around the club is becoming like it was when Bill Carr was ousted but that was by a syndicate operating behind the scenes, this time it's from the fans which will only get worse unless an olive branch is offered, and it needs really sweet olives on it by the way.

He needs to start making things happen on and off the pitch or step aside and let someone with real drive and determination take over because people are fed up of treading water with a few dips under the waves as we tire. A bit like waiting for a bit of football fortune or a bit like waiting for a goal and win at BP.

Or maybe.

The two new signings going straight into tonight’s line up 🤔🤔
The sort that could very much improve a play off bid. Show serious intent by the club
And could defuse too much aggression at a hastily called fans forum.  ???

Obviously this is pure speculation on my part !!!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I wonder how many "fans" were really hoping for another poor goalless display and another defeat as a means to an end?

Great to get the much needed win but it shouldn't paper over the cracks with what's wrong at the club.

Due to your absolutely blind and ignorant loyalty, what you cannot grasp is that these hard working fans that you're showing a complete lack of class to, have gone through weeks, months and years of being bored, disappointed and thoroughly cheesed off with the product that's been offered up as entertainment, spent hundreds and thousands of pounds and travelled thousands of miles to watch their team and all you want to do is belittle them at any ill-conceived opportunity that comes along..

Well we're all over the moon we've won tonight, so what's your point?

Are you saying I haven't? I've travelled I've supported I've been frustrated. My point is we won this evening and people still can't let up, just for one evening. Breath a sigh of relief and ponder over what a fantastic game of football was on offer. I am not belittling anyone, far from it!

Not me. I want some entertainment, and even if it's Donald Trump in charge i wouldn't care. I sincerely hope that Slade makes me eat my words and a few more performances like tonight will go a long way.

Fanny fish tail. We are all happy we won and until you came on here gloating ,there wasn't a negative comment. Fans aren't happy at the moment with everything at GTFC and you coming on here stirring the crap isn't helping Mr Fenty or Mr Slade. After your comments the other night about disabled drivers, I am surprised you haven't been thrown off this site,

Last night`s win was great for the team the manager and the long suffering fans but the fans forum the issues should mainly be about Mr Fenty and the future of the Club and where it`s going.

IMO this is spot on.

The playing side is a side issue but as a club we will never push on whilst someone is so closed minded to so many things and believes the fans are idiots

If we win Saturday in my opinion Mr Fenty should still have a lot of questions to answer next week they won`t go away.

Slade will divide opinion I personally am not a fan BUT he should not be sacked based on the points tally he has amassed thus far versus the players he has been able to recruit via his limited budget.
However another one with questions to answer
He can and should be criticised for the style of play he has largely played when clearly the fans and even his players don`t buy into it and yet when they get the ball down they look like they can actually play?
He will probably get some grief over his signings and the size of the squad versus the lack of obvious quality within it

This is a purely personal view but after seemingly days/weeks  of thread after thread on here having a go at the powers that be, if one result defuses things then this site and several major contributors to it would lose significant credibility. The club have made the thing possible and it simply has to be taken seriously in both camps for the process of re-building to start.  Without it the same old stuff will be trotted out every time we embark on a poor run with accusations and counter-accusations.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

I think the ball is in Fenty's court Ian,

Treat the fans with a lot more respect, keep us informed instead of silence, support the fans ie like at Stevenage,

Then he will get a lot of respect back,

Plus he must tell Slade to put a attacking team on the pitch and no more hoofball,

Simples

Quite right the football/results have not been great but it`s the other stuff needs resolving and it`s far too important to be brushed aside.

I actually think the ball is in the fans court. Those that can need to turn up and question the running of the club? Demand answers to the questions that keep cropping up time and time again.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Fishy_fishtails, regarding my post last night. Caught up in the astonishment of a win whilst playing decent football I wrongly accused him of making horrible comments about disabled drivers, It wasn't him. It was Squarkus.I do however stand by my other comments.

Personally speaking, it defuses nothing. I'm a Town fan through thick & thin and will always want the 11 on the pitch to do what they did last night. Further than that, I would not criticise Mr Fenty for all the time & effort he puts in to the club - he is clearly as passionate about GTFC as the rest of us. My biggest issue is the 'them & us' mentality that seems to exist. There's many GTFC fans who would absolutely jump at the opportunity to invest their energy in the club if it were more inclusive. There's many GTFC fans who spend far more than they probably should following the club through thick & thin, travelling huge distances tp Plymouth, Exeter, and yes, Stevenage, and those fans deserve a bit back sometimes. Thankfully, the players did that last night, but a bit more respect from the boardroom wouldn't go amiss!

If it had ended up a 2-2 or 3-3 draw last night,

The fans would have enjoyed the game so much more than a 0-0 stalemate,

The Fishy would have still been positive and fans would want to go to the next home game.

That must tell Slade something I hope.

If anyone from here is going can you please ask about any intention to offer an extension to Dembele's contract. He's currently our single biggest assets and I can't believe his contract is still due to expire at the end of the season (unlike Dixon and Kelly  )

In all serious can we please try and avoid questions about flasks, fish and chips and the upper Young’s roof.

Some serious questions need to be asked about the running of the club.

Hopefully. I’ve got a hospital appointment in Hull late this afternoon but if I’m back in plenty of time then I fully intend on going.

I think certain people at the club have a lot to answer for.

FFS. Slade intercourse off

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I actually think it's positive Slade sharing some of this stuff, as long as it's coupled with improvement via the training ground and on match day .

But this forum has been asking the question why don`t we leave one up front at corners Slade, have we got a game plan, he`s attempting to answer these questions IMO

Surely the fans should be asking the questions, like you would expect at a Fans Forum??

Seems like the club lecturing the fans at present

If the question is asked re 11 back at corners then by all means answer it but this should be fan, not club led IMO

Not rocket science that getting everyone back at corners will reduce how many you concede directly. The reason other teams don't do it is it becomes impossible to get up the pitch and gives possession to the opposition for the next phase of play. It also sends out a message about the mentality of the team. As a defender I love playing against a team who gets everyone back as it gives you a break physically and mentally.

Awesome piece of time wasting.

First point to JF.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Move on and get to the proper issues.

Finally a decent question

From an awesome bloke

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

We need to get this man out of the club. He's a delusional, self-obsessed, paranoid egotist. In no way a fit and proper person to run things.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the forum? Fenty made some good points, and slade put his point across which was a good insight to how knowledgeable he really is.

However that accountant guy is an absolute tool! Moaning because fans don't know his name... clown

Only listened to 15mins and thought what the accounts bloke was saying is fair enough in regards to why he felt we should jlbe for the trophy, I guess I'd have felt the same knowing the financial part (providing he's not in support of b teams into the league) I thought the bullying thing was a  joke though.

We all have our opinions on players, but for a "supporter" to shout out and interrupt the manager and criticise a current player (as someone did on Nathan Clarke, who whether we like him or not, has played at a much higher level than SP), I thought was very disrespectful.

Just home - listened to most due to dodgy signal on way back from Sleaford - but, wow 'Of course we're bigger than Lincoln' - not with you running the club, Mr Fenty. You only rate our chance of the new stadium as 7 out of 10 - wow again - great statement of intent that is.

Fukin bore off

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

He suggests Town fans could 'crowd out' the fans who carry in the odd flare, point them out and let them be dealt with. Yes, if only they could be photographed as evidence, like the female steward was when standing illegally in the mens toilets.
Hopeless.

Clear that Fenty is far too obsessed with social media and this site in particular. The vast majority who don't use social media or shout abuse at matches seem to have their views ignored.

People wanting Fenty and Slade out are the same people that wanted Hurst out. If you don't want to build something go support a Prem team.

Build on what?? What foundations has JF built for this club - absolutely none. He has almost destroyed us, several relegations. urine poor manager appointments and taking the cheap option at times with the playing budget.

Despite everything, the gag from RS about being Dembelle's step dad made me laugh.

Need to move on about the EFL as we have our own issues to discuss.

I remain supportive of Slade but how anyone can say they are happy with the condescending diatribe given out by Fenty and Marley in particular, is a long way beyond me.

The fans are an irritant, they have no idea of the importance of having the fans on their side and if they did, they wouldn't have a clue about how to build bridges for the club and their long term benefit

We might not even have a club if it wasn't for Fenty. Some of the criticism may be true but from the way alot of people speak about him like he is a criminal is over the top.

Really don't know what all the JF out brigade are shouting about. Just get 500 of you to put £2k each in and you can run the club, set the budget, manage the PR, appoint the manager etc.etc. etc.
Just put your money where your mouths are like JF did, and god help you when you make any mistakes.

Probably says all you need to know that the board don't know what having a p1ss is like at BP whether your a lady or gent, it's not like it's anything new it's been like that for years.

Really don't know what all the JF out brigade are shouting about. Just get 500 of you to put £2k each in and you can run the club, set the budget, manage the PR, appoint the manager etc.etc. etc.
Just put your money where your mouths are like JF did, and god help you when you make any mistakes.

You don't know? really?

Personally I would have no interest in running GTFC, just like I wouldn't want to be Prime Minister or the Archbishop of Canterbury, but it doesn't mean to say I can't be critical of the budget or alleged abuse in the Church does it?

If and when mistakes are made I just would like to see some humility, some holding up of hands rather than the constant finger pointing at those who attend week in week out

I was there and I am here. I assure you the Centre Circle was far less boring.

Will probably catch up with it all tomorrow....was there anything useful or insightful or was it similar to previous years ?

Heard Russell giving a quite passionate speech about team selection and how he and Wilko base it on what they see everyday, what they deal with everyday and liking the players to horses in a parade ring. Liked his response much better than most of Hursts dour remarks and while not as humorous as Bignot's i could appreciate what Russell was saying.

John got quite animated over the Checkatrade bullying/social media but was let off the hook.

Russel Slade should be given a pay rise and also put in charge of PR.

And the wheels are coming off for Mr Marley.....................Well done Matt Dean.

Telling the fans to shut up and insinuating the fans are calling him a liar takes us back years in terms of respect for the board.

Fenty needs to get Marley to one side and give him a right kicking for that, very disrespectful to those who queue for a p1ss every second weekend.

I love the way it ends with Matt Dean copping for it.

And that woman who told him that he was a sh1t journo was out of order, no wonder people arn't attracted to the club.

Well just watched 10 minutes and it's a bloody shambles. Why the intercourse is matt dean suddenly get a bashing? This isn't about Matt flipping dean. Idiots on both side of the table from what I could see. Jesus, supporting this club is bloody hard work right now. Tonight was completely unnecessary.

Mr Marley came across as a humourless and sour accountant lacking in grace or Communication and PR skills.  Having said that, that doesn't mean that the detailed run-down he gave of the steps taken to solicit investment in the club weren't of interest, or well set-out.

I actually thought he gave a good answer on this and addressed some of my points about the saleability of the club, the steps taken to bring outside money in, and the crucial issue of GYFR's shareholding.

I'm willing to take him and Philip Day at their word on this issue, and the conclusion that investment is most likely once the stadium issue is resolved, is probably a reasonable one.

I also think that although he didn't handle it particularly brilliantly, some of the barracking from the floor was disgraceful and an embarrassment.

I thought Fenty's John Shuttleworth impression was very good.

Did I hear him say he had had enough of being involved in the club? He said something like he would always be a fan but would be relieved when someone else takes over?

On a night when we'd hoped the PR issue would be addressed they send out grumpy old Marley and take the PR dept back another step.
Not a good night for the board in regards to their unpopular stances on Checkatrade and Stevenage, the fans required an apology for the bullying claim, instead it was just repeated, with no more evidence provided than the first time.

A good night for Slade though, came out of it pretty well with a mixture of insight and humour. Think the unplanned and forced changes helped in the last 2 games more than he'd like to admit but can't actually blame him for avoiding that.

It did very lively from 2130 hours onwards.  Some frank talking (and abuse).  Well worth a listen.

It took the panel an hour, on and off, to answer my email question that Matt Dean raised, about securing new investment and/or new owners. So the USA owners fell by the wayside then?  I did not like their desire for 100% ownership, with no fans involvement.

The fact that John Fenty did not know that men in the UF queue to use the toilets downstairs was a big surprise. Has no one passed this info on to him?   He did agree to see what he could do.

He came out well until the bullshit about Matt Dean destabilising the club. If a piece of inaccurate information in a newspaper is really able to destabilise the club, then I'd say we have issues people.

Pure entertainment at the end! Better than I'm a celebrity!

Well done to all involved, good to get everything out in the open.

Tonight at least showed everyone cares about the club, despite differing opinions.

The irony of Town fans being called bully's... To publicly humiliate and ridicule a man for doing his job like that is absolutely disgusting and the aggresive manor I have seen used by the clubs hierarchy is outrageous . No wonder we struggle to attract further investment with behaviour like that.

Fenty and co had the chance to reunite us all to get behind him and the club,

Well the fans will always be behind the club ,

BUT

Fenty has burnt his bridges by the sound of it.

Fenty and co had the chance to reunite us all to get behind him and the club,

Well the fans will always be behind the club ,

BUT

Fenty has burnt his bridges by the sound of it.

Pete you sometimes say some daft things, most fans are behind the team but some many of whom post on here are not behind the club, did you watch the last half hour of that?

After tonight although I don't agree with how that Marley bloke spoke I have found a new respect for Mr fenty .

The bloke has had a hard time from people and me included and it's time from my point of view anyway to put it to bed and pull together in one direction.

All I can add is that the two "representatives" (well the ones I knew anyway) of The Fishy did us proud with some very well delivered questions and comments. Take a bow 1MickeyLyons and Civvy at Last.

Sat down with a beer now at my mum’s having got back from the meeting.

Immediate thoughts are that nothing will change from the club side as JF and Stephen Marley were not in listening mode. E.g. the point about it not being the rebuttal of MattDean that was the issue but the manner of it. John just kept saying ‘I was right to issue a rebuttal’.

It seemed more of an opportunity for John to get some things off his chest and for Stephen Marley to talk patronisingly to the fans. He could have covered what needed to be said about the search for new investors in a quarter of the time and he made a big song and dance about whether he should tell us about it. I respect the need to keep the parties confidential but why the need to have kept this close to his chest in the first place. He said ‘in the spirit of openness’ through gritted teeth like he was forced into doing us a favour.

Russell Slade was value for money! Talked well and without patronising or lecturing anyone.

As ever it ain’t what you do* it’s the way that you do it.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I got caught up in a car and lorry accident on the M18 coming back from Nottingham tonight, so caught the back end of the forum, anything positive before the bickering started. The bit I saw looked like Fenty crying he was a victim whilst lambasting poor old Pete and another vile sish on the fishy.

Steve Marley looks nothing like his dad Bob, and whilst he was talking birds were falling out the sky, bore off you smug boring fart.

Anyone give me a concise over view please.

I attended and managed to get a question in about Shaun Pearson, but I was surprised with Slade's assessment and use of stats as Cardwell and Clifton came out on top on most of the charts we were shown, and yet they never seem to get a game!.... Fenty got taken to task by a guy I know on the 'bullying' question of the EFL games, and I agree that the accountant Marley came across very smug and patronising.

An hour prior the club moaned about fans bullying fans then promptly ganged up and bullied him. Unreal. Embarrassing."

I'd love to agree with that but watching Fenty grin throughout the Curtis Woodhouse section at the end, seeing his smirk when Matt Dean says he got his info from a valued source...ugh. Unhappy with this board, frustrated at the amateurishness of their media skills and Marley is the Titanic of the PR world of disasters.

An awful ending, Slade lost it at the end, a mistaken Tweet somehow is much bigger than Stevenage and Checkatrade and incurs a red-faced, eye bulging swipe at Dean? You lose trust? I still remember Cardiff Mr Slade, I know trust.

Well all I can say is I thought it was going to be the usual boring shite.

Far from it.......the questions we wanted to be asked where asked and strongly....

and I thought the replies by JF and the panel where very informative and honest.

I'm not a big fan of John Fenty but ..boring boring ...I trust the board to make the right choice over the next owner after hearing that.

Matt Dean put the 'kudos ' of a journalistic scoop above his privileged access to GTFC staff and should be big enough to admit the breach of trust. Hiding behind 'doing my job' is poor. Would like to think that JT would have verified first.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Things I learnt tonight
Bob Marley as got anger issues
Matt dean is gullible
The trust guy is shy
Philip day dealing with the council doesn't fill me with confidence
Wilko doesn't appear to have a opinion
We have to many Steve's in the town
Jon fenty is a snappy dresser and pulled off the casual but hard look for a fifty odd yr old
And lastly and most surprisingly Slade appeared to know his stuff and his teacher credentials shone through
Just a mention to the audience well done for asking some difficult questions

That Steve Marley fellow came across as extremely arrogant and the epitome of why the clubs PR is bad:
complaining that fans should know his name (FFS!),
that he didnt agree with the checkatrade thing but because he thinks the money is right we all should too,
referring to money that was used to buy Bogle as not being from operation promotion and therefore the fans hadnt bought him, when the vast  majority of the clubs income was of course from the fans,
calling a bbc reporter that asked an obvious and straightforward question (that could and should have been so easily batted away) an Idiot,
when asked a question not aimed at him but in reference to the whole board took it upon himself to declare it had been aimed at him and was critiscising him as 'not worthy' of a board seat (the questioner handled this very well and responded well imo - and no it wasnt me lol)
being unnecessarily abrasive and defensive throughout including saying fans thought he was a liar if they didnt accept his version of events re: investment. I actually thought his explanation was fine (albeit too long for some people's taste) and i personally believe him, i just dont think there was any need to 'up the ante' in that way and it was unhelpful

His behaviour and attitude was poor and unprofessional in my opinion, he seemed to be deliberately wanting to antagonise fans/the situation. I am not sure he would be the right person to represent the club in important dealings from what i have seen tonight.

I think Slade came out well, I don’t always agree with his plan, but I genuinely think he has one and he’s certainly thorough and he was quite open (within reason)

At least he seems to have a plan , I honestly believe if Bignot was asked to do the same and explain his plan to the fans we'd have got a load of waffle

Plastic face? Charming.

That was me.

Sorry mate 😂😂

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

That wasn't called for Paul - personally thought you came across as well as you were allowed to. I have a huge problem with how last night appeared to be stage-managed to allow Matt Dean to be hung out to dry at the end (although Jf's non-knowledge of the meeting between Dean & Day was funny!) - all in all, it just goes to show how much of a pickle the club is in in terms of its' relationship between them and us.

When it became a feeding frenzy at the end the only ones with any credit were Bax and Matt Dean, who both tried to politely put their point over but were shouted down or talked over.

I'm not really sure why Wilko was there, nor if he'd wished he'd stayed at home

I had my arm up for 10 mins trying to ask Wilko a question regarding our young players etc which I think would have gone down well and he would have probably enjoyed answering?Sadly my timing was all off and it was just as silly season broke out down the front in the cheap seats.UTM

Well now the dust has (almost) settled what conclusions can be drawn from last night's debacle

1 Slade manged to while away 25 minutes with stats to show what a dynamic modern forward looking manager he is and to illustrate how much running Vernon does (shame he didn't have figures for what percentage of his running was actually with or for the ball)

2 Day seems a nice bloke, cuddly like your Grandad and totally unsuited to taking Fenty's place in any nitty gritty negotiations with NELC, potential 'enablers',Extreme or anyone else.

3 The accountant fella Marley, what a pretentious, patronising tw@t. No such thing as a quick chat with him, take your pjamas and cocoa. Wobbled on and on trying to illustrate what a great bloke he is then showed his real self and lost it when interrupted. Interesting to know an American investor had showed a serious interest in the club. Shame the board decided not to sell as the buyers wanted total control and 100% of the shares. As far as I know nobody actually asked the shareholders what they thought (I didn't get a letter anyway) Seems to me the major shareholder probably made that decision  on his own as lets face it the other board members own sod all shares to speak of.

4 Was not impressed when Fenty's family and imported supporters on the front row kicked off at Matt Dean, Fenty had already had a go and when Slade joined in saying it had affected the players too (good excuse for not scoring goals Russ) I wish Matt Dean had just walked out Credit to him for his composure

5 Fenty himself. As another poster pointed out last night he looked like a tribute to the late Rodney Bewes. He was a little less forceful than Bob Ferris and his plea at the end had me reaching for my hankie. I also took exception to his inference that the security at Stevenage had been brought about by the behaviour of some Town away fans, yet another example of 'it's someone else's fault' A bit like how tatty the ground was when he came in (how that impacts on the current state of the bogs I didn't quite get) and how he can't attract new board members because the social media (us) are so cruel. Didn't tell us why Bignot was sacked, just went on about what a great bloke Hurst was and how reliable Russ is - do we take it Bignot failed in that area?

6 All in all an entertaining two and a half hours but not very enlightening

Incidentally I have just worked out (I must be thick for it to have taken so long) 'you're vile sish mates' should of course have read 'your vile fish(y) mates'. I can forgive him the 'sish' error as after all as we are often reminded he is lysdexic but 'vile' is a bit strong. Also disappointed that Pete and I who contacted Fenty by phone and PM respectively are now barred from ever contacting him again - I will lie awake worrying about that.

Oh I am left remembering the days of gentleman Bill Carr at the helm and the very professional Commercial Manager we once had who went up to a north east club, just can't remember his name. Different atmosphere in those days. So much poison now which will have to lanced before there is any chance of it healing. I just hope that RS and his squad are able to rise above it all and give us something to cheer about on the pitch.

Fenty also said that he wished that the forum had been held 2 weeks ago.  When results were so dull.  He said that this would have drawn all the anger out of the fans and we could all have moved on.

Why does he has the grasp on life and people of a 10 year old?  He shows has no judgement quality for many issues relating to GTFC.

I suspect that after the anger over "Curtisgate" last night, holding the forum before the 2 wins would have resulted in a drunken fracas by the end of the night.  Still, this would have provided further justification for Fenty that our fans deserve to be treated badly at away matches.

"These are the facts".  This was a common theme from the Board.  Well their version of the facts.  Similar to "Getyourfactsright" on here.  An arrogance common to these statements that they know best, and what is best for the likes of us.   At the same time in trying to dispel myths, they add further myths and fudge of their own.

Matt Dean asked my email question about potential future owners and investment with only 15 mins to go of the set 2 hours.   There was insufficient time to fully answer this question, although an hour later we about got there with some new information.

Social media shouldn't be used as an excuse for the unprofessional, out of touch behaviour of those who should know better. If the board can't handle modern media methods, they should contemplate employing someone who can.

Someone said on one of these threads today that the Checkatrade and Stevenage issues were not big deals.
They were.

The Club managed to find the only responses on both counts.  On the Checkatrade they voted for it twice and wrongly criticised the fans for bullying other fans not to attend these games.

On Stevenage they were damned by the silence of their support.  They have also wrongly implied that our fans caused the Stevenage security response with prior bad behaviour at away games.

The Board said nothing last night to correct these damaging slights of loyal fans.

Fenty and Slade want everyone to pull together.  Their comments before and last night do not match up to these aims.

So just to sum up last night, Russ Slade is a tactical genius and knows how to use a computer, the club see no problem with the events at Stevanage as they have never been in touch directly with them, and if we are offered a bag of cash although we don't like the format we will take part in the Chekatrade and maybe have a chat with the grand leader of the EFL sometime in the future but will not inform the fans of the result of said conversation. If I have any of this wrong please feel free to put me write.

Thought this was an anonymous site? Why does it matter if I am a member of the family or not?

His brothers hide behind odd aliases but at least they admit who they are when posting here. You raised it and I asked the question also as all your posts are strongly pro-Fenty it begs the question. it matters if only so we can excuse your odd point of view if you are a relative

I personally don't see the relevance as to who I am, Family member or not, I am entitled to my opinion just as much as anyone on here or otherwise. And because my views are pro-Fenty as you put it doesn't make me a family member, it just means I have different views to you.

No one disputes your entitlement to your opinion but you stated none of the gobby ones at the forum last night were relatives of Fenty - how do you know that and is it because you are a relative seems therefore a reasonable question to pose.

I am thinking of talking to a solicitor  about a case for slander,

The Board could not organise a urine-up in a football ground. The Findus toilets are the same since 1982.

The Main Stand probably unchanged since 1901.

Did anyone else notice that quick aside comment from the Board that a fan did not know the name of a Board member?  I thought at the time said in jest.  After the final 30 mins I am not sure now.

If I have any of this wrong please feel free to put me write right.

Yes a reasonable question but all I am saying is I was there last night and can say hand on heart it wasn't any of his family. I don't get why you are so interested in who is related to who, If I was related would it make an iota of difference?

I refer the dishonourable member to my earlier question.

How can you know they were not related to Fenty? I am sure that even you will see that, if they were, then it throws a very different light on last nights proceedings.

The only way you can state with total confidence is a) if you are a relative or b) you know who the scroatbags were - simple

I know JF and his family and I am not related to any of them but can confirm with up most confidence that none of the abusive fans at the end of the forum where related to JF or any of his family, I do however think they where well out of order with the way they conducted themselves.

I'm torn because on much of the substance (shares situation, efforts to find an investor, tax position, Bogle transfer, numbers around the stadium, honesty about JF's exit strategy) I thought the panel gave some clear answers.

Which brings us back to the style and presentation.  If the club had bought in just a few days' of training in how to handle media questions and handling/neutralising aggressive questioning, the same answers and facts could have been presented in a much better way and not poured petrol onto the fire.

Take Stephen Marley for example.  He made a perfectly reasonable point that he'd spoken to a local HNWI about investing in the club and that this person was put off by the prospect of abuse from fans.  I don't think anyone would dispute that as a plausible anecdote and wouldn't have expected him to divulge who it was.  Matt Dean, as a journalist, did his job and asked Marley, at which point he exploded and started angrily bandying around phrases like "rank stupidity".

Why couldn't Marley have just said with a smile "Ha, nice try Matt and I understand you have to ask me that, as a journalist, but I'm sure you can appreciate I was asked to not divulge this person's identity and I'd like to keep my word to them.  It does mean I'm asking you all to take me at my word on it, but because we're still involved in talking to people in business and football, it's also important that those we approach know they can trust us to act with discretion and keep confidences."

Why not just give that answer like any other professional would do, instead of kicking off like an episode of Jeremy Kyle?

Good post HH. It was good to get the information you mentioned. Some of the ‘what’ of the message has got lost in the ‘how’.

Maybe that’s something Paul Savage (bax) can help with?

Something has to give soon, this will end up in turning people off. Not sure what the solution is but this will spread like the big C, I have a few ideas but doubt people would go for them.

It's called self importance, why would we know who he is if he doesn't engage the fans or do something to get the fans asking hey who's that cool guy that's fun to be around?

That is incredibly sad to hear.  No-one has a monopoly on good ideas and I'm sure lots of people at the club could learn a lot.  Media, digital skills, e-commerce and customer service seem to be the areas that spring to mind.

He seems to think he is !!

His disgraceful behaviour towards Matt Dean at the fans' forum was beyond belief.

Just for the record John, you will always be remembered as the (non) chairman that took us out of the football league, that is your legacy.

One day, hopefully in my lifetime, you will leave the club and the crowds will return - UTM
