nasty rumour that we might be missing a rather vital player tonight.

Fingers crossed it's not true

If you’re going to make a new post, at least say who.

I’m going to guess you mean Danny Rose?

Rose the only "vital" player

If any club had a 'vital' player it's us with Danny Rose. No other player currently has such ability/influence. Think about changing your predicted results/scorers tonight - but is it true?

Hardly vital

Only one who is vital too us is Rosey

Looks like we’re back to 4-3-3. Don’t feel great about that but I suppose we’ll see.

Given Rose is missing fully expected Wilson to start but we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out before having a paddy but Eisa wouldn’t be my go to replacement. Hopefully he now scores two worldies 😀

Has to be 4-3-3 with that team. Somewhat surprised at the inclusion of Eisa as a starter but Wilson may have a bit of a knock. Someone has to step up and replace the graft that Danny puts in.

Some saying 433, but could easily see it being 343

Mullarkey Tharme Rodgers
Clifton Holohan Thompson Hume
Gnahoua Obikwu Eisa

Don't see us abandoning the back three that has served us so well to put Mullarkey at full back and Clifton in midfielder again

If it’s 3-4-3 Eisa not tracking back to cover isn’t as important I’d think
Posted by: Abdul19, March 12, 2024, 7:01pm; Reply: 19
Agree about the 3 centre backs. Think it'll be a sort of 5311 with Gnahoua in midfield and Eisa behind Obikwu but I'm no Michael Cox!

Possession is not a relevant statistic when we're set up to counter attack and they're mostly just passing it around in midfield rather than anywhere dangerous.

Shockingly bad penalty. I'd easily have saved that and I was always shite in goal. I'd say Holohan has had a terrible half, but he did put in an excellent cross for the goal. Hopefully he'll be much better in the second half.

Have to say this is one of the most inept/biased refereeing performances I've ever seen and we should be two goals up! Two bookings for challenges which weren't even fouls and they are just dragging us down if we get past them in midfield without a word said. Surely their keeper should have been booked for the foul on Obikwu which led to the penalty as well?

Lots of good footballers in their team but nothing created as yet. We've got a few players who are well off the pace so hopefully they will improve in the second half as well.

Best way to take a pen is to hit it hard into the corner. Even if the keeper guesses right there is still a very good chance it will go in.

But we have been incredibly wasteful in front of goal all season. One goal is not often good enough for a win and we need wins.

Sloppy passing from a town is what could cost us. Credit to Artell in the set up as we’re playing well.

Holohan has been poor in possession, not mentioning the penalty.

I’d be bringing Wilson and Wood on

Wilson is an absolute no brainer. He’s held the ball up brilliantly of late and we’ve got no one doing that.

I’d like to see Wilson up with Obiwku and Arthur

Missing Rose's defending from the front big time. Battling well but there's usually only so long you can be pinned back for

According to half time stats, our accuracy of passing is only just above 50% against 83% for the Dons.

Not good enough at this level  !!

So far this half we have defended not only well but as a solid unit. May it well continue. 6 weeks ago we would have been dead and buried under this sort of pressure.

Forest Green win 2-0 away at Bradford. Big win for them. Still, 5 points ahead of them, 6 points ahead of Colchester who are now in the relegation zone, with Sutton now as good as down.

5 games unbeaten and just 1 (dodgy pen) goal conceded since we capped that awful run with a 5-1 defeat at home to Donny. Some turnaround, that.

Fantastic game. Obikwu needs to come back. Hume, Thompson, Tharme, Rodgers, Clifton and Cartwright had great games. Green seems to be the digger, CDM version of a super sub as he ran his socks off.

Arthur played well, as did Mullarkey without either being spectacular in any regard.

Credit to to the team and Artell, big three points.

Utm.

Elsewhere tonight, John McAtee scores his 11th of the season as Barnsley win 3-2 away at Carlisle. Shocker for Hursty though, with the Shrews down to 10 men after 6 minutes, eventually going down 3-0 at home to Exeter.

Oh, Lincoln beat Garry Monk’s Cambridge 6-0, so be prepared to be bored to tears about that tomorrow.

Couldn’t watch - too stressful. Incredible turnaround since Donny - great effort from DA, the coaches, the players and not forgetting the fans - I’ve only been at Wimbledon where the support was superb, my lad was at Sutton and said the fans were great and to have 5.7k there tonight with next to no away fans is excellent.

Just looking at the form table, Swindon doing badly, only won once in the last six games, 6 points ahead of us but we have two games in hand, they could get sucked in to the mix along with Salford (but think Donny will pull clear)
As a matter of interest, Notts County one place and 3 points ahead of Swindon. Not suggesting they are in serious danger, but they have lost five out of the last six!

It's not beyond the realm  that we are already close to being safe ,FGR have Sutton who they will probably beat but then have that terrible run of 5 or 6 games against the top end teams - they only have 9 games left and I suspect their form might level out somewhat . Sutton are gone .

Colchester could end up with 4 games in hand but 10 points behind .

Salford could get dragged into it I think ,the rest probably have too many points already unless Swindon or Donny lose every game which I doubt .

To reach 45 points :
Sutton - 2.25 PPG - not happening
FGR- 1.3PPG
Col U - 1.2 PPG
Town - 0.7PPG
Salford - 0.6PPG
Swindon - 0.1 PPG

Might be a slightly higher points total but can't see it being much more.

We should survive quite comfortably on paper at least .

There is no way we don't get 7 to 10 points is there from these last 10 ?

No reason why we can’t get to 40 points by the end of the month. Then plenty of easier games in April to take us to safety.

I fancy us for at least a point on Saturday and given Wrexhams away form that is not an impossible game to get something out of either.

I'd personally disagree about this.

Yes, he's committed and, yes, he's done OK defensively, but his control of the ball and passing leaves a lot to be desired and his positioning isn't quite right because he's not a natural defender. Wearne managed to get a couple of decent crosses in tonight because Clifton wasn't in quite the right position. Not saying, say, Smith, would do any better but it's certainly not a natural positionfor him. A decent stopgap, but he's more effective in the wide attacking roles for me.
