Macclesfield have only spent 13 seasons of this century in the EFL, ourselves, Barnet and Morecambe have spent 7 seasons outside the EFL. Artell has been a player, coach or manager for 3 of those sides too!

Essentially 5 relegations within that period will do that to you.

True ,"Grips my excrement!" People with laptops with nothing better to do.
A two fingered hand jesture comes to mind first used in Agincourt!!
I get a subtle dig from my lot when i go to BP = "That's a waste of petrol" or " Expensive Fish & Chips!"

They say the table never lies, and that one certainly doesn’t.

We went from being a really well run club punching above it’s weight in the eighties and nineties, to becoming a footballing disaster this century.

Just proves how bad we've been scraping the barrel for the last two decades. Utter shite

It’s a damming stat that highlights the fact that we’ve been one of the worst efl clubs for the last 20 years . I think the fans deserve a huge pat on the back

A perfect example of why data  can be pointless and misleading . Think about it! Teams who have bad goal differences get relegated they drop down a level and there goal difference improves . By restricting this to the top 4 league you are ignoring our performance in the league we dropped down . We have dropped to level 5 twice in the period and if our seven seasons in there were included the picture would be very different.including the top 4 tiers only is an arbitary cut off and it’s no coincidence that 3 of the 5 listed have fallen to tier 5 in the period Barnet like us more then once. The only suprise in this is Crewe which shows that despite there plaudits as a well run club this stat doesn’t support it.

That’s true - we have more home fans at home games and an even bigger increase at away games than 24 years ago…

That's what irks me when we have not kicked on .

The regulars + a few more have stuck with the team through thin more than thick ; I still wonder how many would jump on the bandwagon if we had a season of sustained league success ; unfortunately so far it's only ever been something we can debate rather than reality .

This is what happens when you try and run a football club as if it were a fish factory and reduce all costs to next to nothing, with no investment!

How is it misleading it literally says top four divisions and shows we've been one of the shitiest league clubs in two decades.

Now there might well be a stat that says we're one of the best non-league clubs in the last two decades but honestly who gives two felicitations for that stat. It's like being the plate team winner in a rugby tournament.

I agree with your sentiments. It's really the only thing I go on about with Town nowadays. We had a golden period to really push our club onwards and upwards, and we've managed to regress in some ways. It's just a massive shame as the potential for this club is much higher than the some of neighbours and they've achieved better.

can someone just remind me who was in charge of the club for 80% of this century?

It's 18 years since we last finished with a positive goal difference in League 2!

I dread to think have many times we have recorded a positive goal difference in the last 50 years (excluding non-league)
