The fat old guy trundling around the pitch?

Did you actually see Paul Futcher play? I'm insulted on his behalf! Jesus.

Yeah I’m serious. He didn’t put a foot wrong all game . Kept possession and defended well . Just kept it simple . It’s not a hard game you know

It’s not like we gave him too much to worry about for most of the game.

He seemed to lose the plot at the end.

It was just gamesmanship mate . He’s nothing to prove now . I watched him all game and regardless of what anyone thinks apart from Rose and Rogers he was the best player on the pitch today

Apart from when he lost possession in his own box because he was too slow. He’s just an average ageing meathead. To compare him to Futch is just balderdash.

Now you are comparing him to Messi. He’s a big old meathead playing for the second bottom team in the FL. For context, an older Futch was starring in the second tier.

I’m not comparing him to anyone. I was replying to a comment that he gave away possession once in the game . Anyone, even the best can do that

Not even better than Danny Collins, so to compare him to Paul Futcher is just outright disrespectful

That’s exactly what you did. You called his performance “Paul Futcher esk (sic)”

A better comparison would perhaps be Danny Collins. Someone who's playing out the twilight of his career below his natural level, but one where his physical limitations are less exposed.

I thought he looked good for 60 minutes and very composed, as you would expect for someone who's played at a much, much higher level.

Then Wilson got the bit between his teeth and took the mantle of target man, once Rose dropped even deeper. Keogh couldn't handle Wilson until the latter ran himself to exhaustion.

Futch spent half a season in the third tier with us and then the rest of his time in the second. He was more often than not the best player on a field of very, very good players. He regularly made John Aldridge look a complete idiot. Aldridge's record is simply outstanding in the top 2 tiers, in La Liga too. His international record none too shabby as well.

I love Rose and I thought Wilson was excellent in the second half. But Futch would have had both in the watch pocket of his 501's with plenty of room for every other striker in League 2 too.

He was excrement. I'd have liked to have seen him and the knackered Thompson race the length of the pitch, we might still be there now.

This has blown my mind.
I was slightly concerned when the team news was out and Wilson who's played about 30 mins in our last 12 games, yet he had a field day when he did get the ball.

Keogh CV isn't by fluke, he's clearly had a good career, but he was poor today

Is Keogh the one who totally lost it causing the melee in the middle of the pitch? If that was the experienced one I'd hate to be relying on him as a calm head...

Looked overweight and a bit past it to me, even against our lot

Keogh looked all at odds for me..like a player at end of career. Knows what he wants to do but physically can’t do it. He was ripe for someone running at him with the ball. We didn’t test him nearly enough, it was one of those games for us. But I can see FGR conceding more than getting clean sheets put it that way.

Don’t know the extent of his injuries after that car crash but he looked weirdly ‘out of shape’ ..back seemed to be like hunchback, left shoulder didn’t look right.

When he cleared his lines the ball went up the field unlike our scuffed efforts . Basics..The best player on the pitch.

Another remarkable, world-beating performance from bloke who lead his side to zero shots on goal against a team averaging about 4 goals against every week.

All well & good keeping it simple, perhaps he should’ve tried something a bit more complicated like passing forwards rather than sideways?

Some deranged people on here.

Overweight, grey haired defender milking a last payday from his previously excellent career.

Do I blame him? No I don't.

Was he the best player on the pitch? No, he wasn't.

Wilson had a better game, really grew into the hold up role. Keogh? Did ok with the interceptions that he read and got to, not so good with the ones he didn't, Vernham or a confident Eisa down the sides would have given them  real problems.
Amazed at the fuss being made, Danny Rose must wonder why he bothers 😇

When Wilson dispossed him (which unfortunately the former ran out of pitch due to a slip) he berated the keeper and to quote "hit it long, I can't handle him"...and if you didn't notice, that was the last time they risked the short pass to him...
