Is it just me or have the embedded adverts gone mental on here recently? It’s like reading a story on a local newspaper website, almost unreadable at times.

Also, please don’t recommend an ad-blocker. I’ll be deep in the ground before I bother with an ad-blocker.

I dont mind the site supporting itself through ad revenue but need to do some quality control as its a complete mess now, becoming as unbrowsable as the grimsby telegraph website

I was going to post similar. However I don't seem to get ads on my PC but every post on my phone which I use most of the time has these blasted ads, especially from those scummers Temu.

I don't get ads with Firefox and uBlock origin (open source and highly trusted) which is designed to block trackers, not adverts, but as you say, you're not interested in that sort of stuff, so enjoy the hot cougars in your area.

I’m not sure about that; all I get is ads for divorce lawyers, vibrating dildos and strapping, naked firemen with big hoses.

I haven’t been looking at any of those things.

I'd recommend an ad-blocker....  They block ads.

No, I’m pretty sure I’m keeping her very well satisfied. In fact, I only have to be so much as in the next room for her to reach a very audible climax. I think that’s what you call sexual magnetism.

Must really put her off her online bingo, though.

The true beauty of the Fishy is when threads go off on a tangential journey like this and like Poojah’s Mrs does.

Not having a go at the Fishy of the sites I visit newspapers are the worst. Plus I understand these sites need to make money from advertising but so many sites allow scammers such as Etsy, Wish and Temu on I think sites who allow these sort of scum on should be liable for anyone losing money by visiting these twits.

We’ll, just read through this whole thread and not one ad, and I don’t think I have an ad blocker, technology does confuse me.

I only get ads for funeral plans, meals on wheels, incontinence aids and Viagra at my age.

I am more than happy to turn individual advertisers off. I have done it occasionally before when people have pointed them out and I have looked into it and agreed. I have never even heard of any of the firms you mention but pm me if you have any rogue advertisers and I will consider it. The ad settings and placements haven't changed for many years on this site, all the most intrusive ads are turned off and will remain so. The ads are in fixed positions and I think more regular users learn not to notice them. I use the site often and rarely notice the ads, my eyes slide past them. As it's a forum a typical user journey is much longer than information-based websites, so the ads are intended to be fairly unobtrusive. I think by and large I have got the right balance. My other sites where a typical user journey is much shorter have much more prominent ads than this one.

I think you do a good job and don't have problems with the ads, In fact, I used the information on here several months ago, and no it wasn't the Thai ladies sort of ad.

Would be nice to see ads that were actually of interest. Football related, Grimsby related, ads from the next away game's town, local concerts, gigs, pub deals. Anything but the stuff that is actually advertised. I don't think I've ever clicked on an ad here unless by mistake.

I just scrolled down. I have an ad for sea containers! Possibly because I once looked up stadiums built from sea containers.

Exactly.  On FB I always get some shirt shop in the USA closing down and they write as if I have used them before.  Firstly, I haven't, secondly, the shirts are pretty crappy, and finally, I'd never spend $60 on a shirt especially with those delivery costs. (exception is a town shirt)

Finally, a thread to actually really get into. This week I am mostly seeing...

Barry Hearn's autobiography
Raddison Liverpool
Organic bralette
Lots of ASOS ads for women's dresses
Free spins on betting sites

What you and Barry wear or get up to in Liverpool is entirely your business.
